JACKSONVILLE, Ala. (WBRC) - Jacksonville State University announced Thursday that legendary sports broadcaster Eli Gold will be joining the university’s television baseball broadcast crew for the rest of the 2024 season.

“We are always looking for ways to enhance Jax State athletics in any way and adding someone with Eli Gold’s experience and character will do just that. We already have a hall of famer in Mike Parris in our radio booth, so to add another in Eli to our television booth will afford our fans an unparalleled opportunity to follow Gamecock Baseball,” said JSU Athletics Director Greg Seitz.

Gold is no stranger to the game of baseball as he previously served as the Voice of the Birmingham Barons in the past for four seasons and also called multitude of baseball games for the Alabama Crimson Tide. Along with his baseball broadcasting career, Gold has also called games for the NCAA, NFL, NHL, NASCAR, and many more.

According to JSU, Gold will provide the television broadcast for many of the Gamecocks’ remaining games this season. His first game will be March 19 against Samford in Jacksonville.
