Perspectives: Serving the homeless

MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) - This week we hear from one of the organizations that is helping those experiencing homelessness.
According to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, there were an estimated 3,752 experiencing homelessness on a single night in Alabama in 2022. Over several months during the following year, the city of Mobile noticed an influx of homeless people and an associated increase in related of police calls.
Derek Boulware, CEO with Homeless First, Inc. joins us to discuss how his agency addresses the homeless and how the agency is helping change the situations of many of those experiencing homelessness in Mobile and Baldwin counties.
