Saban, Blakeney, Tuberville make 2025 College Football HOF ballot

IRVING, Texas. (WSFA) - The National Football Foundation and the College Football Hall of Fame announced the names on the 2025 ballot for induction Monday.

The list of 178 players and 43 coaches features many coaches and players from Alabama, Auburn, and Troy. Of the 5.7 million people who have played college football, only 1,093 have the honor of being a member of the College Football Hall of Fame.

List of players/coaches by school
Alabama
  • Nick Saban (Coach)- Saban’s list of accomplishments is sure to make the legendary coach a first-ballot hall of famer. Coach Saban has the most national championships, with seven. He was the first coach in history to win a national title with two different schools (LSU and Alabama). He finished his career sixth all-time in FBS history with 292 wins and led Alabama to 16 consecutive seasons, finishing top ten in the final rankings.
  • Mark Ingram (Running Back)- Ingram was the Tide’s first-ever Heisman Trophy winner, 2009 unanimous First Team All-American, and Offensive MVP in the 2010 BCS National Championship game after rushing for 116 yards and two scores.
  • Chris Samuels (Offensive Tackle)- The 1999 Outland Trophy is on the 2025 ballot. Samuels blocked for Shawn Alexander, who rushed for over 1,300 yards. Samuels also did not allow a single sack during his legendary 1999 season.
Auburn
  • Tommy Tuberville (Coach)- Coach Tuberville led the Tigers to a perfect 13-0 season in 2004, in which he was the National Coach of the Year. He led Auburn to four division titles and two SEC Championship appearances. Tuberville ranks 10th in conference history with 64 regular season wins.
  • Gregg Carr (Linebacker)- Carr was a three-time All-SEC selection and the 1984 SEC Lineman of the Year. He was also a consensus First Team All-American in 1984. Carr was instrumental to the Tiger’s 1983 SEC title and three consecutive bowl wins, twice leading the team in tackles.
  • Takeo Spikes (Linebacker)- The 1998 Peach Bowl MVP and two-year Auburn Defensive MVP ranks in the school’s all-time top 10 with 331 career tackles. Spikes was also a 1997 First Team All-American and two-time All-SEC selection.
Troy
  • Larry Blakeney (Coach)- Blakeney is the all-time winningest coach in Sun Belt Conference history. He was a four-time coach of the year in the conference, leading the Trojans to eight conference titles and seven FCS playoff appearances. Coach Blakeney also led the Trojans to four bowl games, winning in 2006 and 2010 in the New Orleans Bowl.
  • Al Lucas (Linebacker)- A two-time First Team All-American and winner of the 1999 Buck Buchanan Award as the nation’s top defensive player. Lucas was also selected as a two-time First Team All-Southland, helping lead the Trojans to two conference titles and three NCAA playoff appearances.
  • Freddie Thomas (Defensive Back)- Thomas helped lead the Trojans to the 1987 NCAA Division II National Championship as the team captain. He was a two-time First Team All-American selection and a two-time First Team All-Conference pick.

The 2025 Hall of Fame class will be announced in early 2025, and then they will be inducted in Las Vegas on Dec. 9, 2025, at the Bellagio Hotel & Resort. For a complete list of names on the 2025 ballot, click here.
