BAY MINETTE, Ala. (WALA) - A preliminary hearing today for the first person arrested in connection with May’s mass shooting in Stockton was delayed until next week.

Twenty-four-year-old Robert Brown Jr. was booked on charges of murder and attempted murder today.

A motion was also filed today for him to be held under Aniah’s Law. His preliminary hearing and the Aniah’s Law hearing will now take place at 9 a.m. July 18 in Bay Minette. Brown will be held in the Mobile County Metro Jail in the meantime

He was originally arrested in May on a first-degree assault charge for the shooting of one of the victims who survived.

On Thursday, several people, including multiple family members for Brown and the families of at least two of the victims killed in that mass shooting, were ready to view the hearing.

The Stockton mass shooting resulted in three deaths and 19 others being wounded.
