Fish and Wildlife
Forest and grassland ecosystem health is directly tied to the fish and wildlife that make these areas home. These organisms pollinate, distribute seeds, and cycle nutrients, while also maintaining the balance of pests, predator, and prey. Fish and wildlife are also a vitally important part of deep ecological, cultural, recreational, and economic ties to people who live in and visit the region.
Scientists from the Northern Research Station study fish and wildlife to gain a better understanding of biodiversity within forests and grasslands. This science helps managers control impact disturbances, make sound land management decisions, and minimize human impacts on them while helping protect, enhance, and restore fish and wildlife habitat.
