We recently hosted a poll asking which TV legend should be the next person to receive the 2025 SAG life achievement award. The overwhelming top choice was Emmy and SAG winner Jean Smart. She received 31.84% of support among the 18 candidates we offered for consideration.
When we offered a similar poll last year, double Oscar winner Barbra Streisand was the top choice, and then she was indeed selected for this honor on the Screen Actors Guild Awards. We created a separate poll earlier this month about film legends with Meryl Streep receiving the most support over Glenn Close, Shirley MacLaine and Jessica Lange.
The SAG-AFTRA selection committee will likely be announcing their next recipient in the near future. The 2025 ceremony will be live February 23 streaming on Netflix.

FX made the third season of “The Bear” available in its entirety on Hulu on Wednesday, June 26, 2024, just as it did for Seasons 1 and 2 of the show about a Chicago sandwich spot turned fine-dining establishment. Getting people to scarf down the whole meal in one sitting worked — in the short term.
Nielsen’s streaming data for the week of June 24-30 finally caught up to those of us existing in the present on Thursday. No shade: That’s the TV-ratings currency company’s typical delay in streaming measurement.
Nielsen says “The Bear” was streamed for 1.2 billion viewing minutes over its first five days, and that two-thirds of its audience were between the ages of 18 and 49. That is traditionally the coveted demographic for advertisers — especially for those advertising on linear TV.
The 1.2 billion minutes streamed made “The Bear” the top original streaming program, but it was not #1 overall.

The Bear‘s entire third season was released June 26 on Hulu, and the Emmy-winning FX series quickly shot to No. 1 on Nielsen’s chart of streaming originals for the week of June 24-30 with 1.2 billion viewing minutes.
That was good for No. 3 overall, behind two Netflix-powered acquired titles, Your Honor (1.6B) and Dexter (1.5B).
After Your Honor first hit No. 1 the week of June 3 before being dethroned by Bridgerton with the release of the latter’s Season 3B, the legal thriller starring Bryan Cranston retook the top spot, though its weekly viewing minutes dipped for the first time since the series was released on Netflix on May 31.
Similarly, Dexter, which also is on Paramount+, returned to Netflix on June 19 after a three-and-a-half-year break, fueling the rise in its consumption from 802M minutes the week before.

From the vast world of television shows, we, as in those of us who get way too invested in stories about the people we see on our screens, have watched and re-watched and binged on numerous shows over the years. In trying to escape our realities and to get ourselves involved in the fantasy of these shows and the characters, television has always been a medium people are drawn to.

Bob Odenkirk is set to return to the big screens with the sequel to his surprise hit Nobody from 2021, and fans couldn’t be more excited to have the Better Call Saul star back onscreen. Just like the first film, he will reportedly be reprising his iconic role of the mild-mannered family man cum former secret government assassin — a role he pulled off most impeccably.

Vince Gilligan’s Breaking Bad gained a reputation as a masterpiece. It has several awards and stellar reviews to prove just how good it was during its run and years after. Being regarded for how well-thought-out every single aspect of it was, the series did nothing by mistake, and every decision was calculated. At least, that’s what fans think.

HBO’s House of the Dragon is a series whose first season aired in 2022 and consisted of 10 episodes. The long-awaited second season finally premiered on Sunday, June 16, 2024, and the early critics’ reviews are now further supported by audience scores, which are amazingly good.
The series, as you surely know, is a spin-off series related to Game of Thrones, and it has been welcomed by both fans and critics, making it yet another hit series for the streaming service. But, while the reactions to the premiere – and the second season in general – have been amazing, we have reported that the premiere saw a drop in viewership, but despite that – the fans can rejoice!
Namely, with HBO being a television program as well as a streaming service, it is much easier to gather the viewership ratings for HBO’s shows than it is for Netflix’s or Disney+’s shows, so we have some information.

After running for two seasons on Showtime, Your Honor has become a big winner on Netflix, getting more streaming minutes than any other content on the service in its streaming debut last month. Not only has this drawn new attention to the show, it’s also opened up discussions for a potential third season, though any such decision won’t likely come soon. Unsurprisingly, one of the factors helping drive the show’s popularity is its star, Bryan Cranston. After all, with Breaking Bad still drawing big binge numbers, people are clearly drawn to Cranston and his characters. While he was making Your Honor, a big part of his role — similar to Breaking Bad— was the physical transformation of his character over time; in Your Honor’s second season, the character looked radically different, as the show...

Euphoria season 3 is finally coming, but new seasons of modern TV shows are taking years to make. We take a look at why.
The past couple of weeks has brought a lot of good news for fans of modern, prestige TV. Euphoria season 3 is finally heading into production next January and we’ll be getting the new season of Severance in the same month. Meanwhile, Stranger Things season 5 is now halfway through filming.
This would all be great news, except every one of these shows were last on TV three years ago, in 2022. The wait between seasons has stretched from roughly a year, maybe two, to several. It’ll be 2026 before we see a new season of Euphoria and by then, many of us will have largely forgotten what happened to Rue and her friends since the last time we saw them.
Why has the wait become so long?

It can’t be overstated how iconic Bryan Cranston’s performance as Walter White was, which deservingly earned the Drive star a whopping six Emmy wins. Unfortunately, it meant that his following performances and projects would be inevitably compared to his Breaking Bad counterpart.
As a result, his first major drama series after Bb, Your Honor, had the misfortune of being compared to arguably one of the greatest TV shows of all time. While its first season ended up becoming Cranston’s first-ever rotten show on the Tomatometer, showrunner Peter Moffat’s brilliant pitch ensured the actor was on board for a second season.

From Walter White in Breaking Bad and Michael Desiato in Your Honor, Bryan Cranston seems to be pretty keen when it comes to damaged individuals. But while the former is a landmark in television history, Your Honor, which was Cranston’s return to TV after 7 years, had some big shoes to fill, which unfortunately it didn’t end up doing.
However, as opposed to season 1, which became his first-ever rotten show with a score of 58% on the Tomatometer, the sequel served as a notable improvement. For that, we have one cast member to thank, who went toe-to-toe with the 6-time Emmy winner and overcame one major challenge.

Bryan Cranston’s Walter White and James Gandolfini’s Tony Soprano are the most common names that cross one’s mind when it comes to the most iconic characters to grace the realm of TV. However, most can agree that while these two are some of the well-written characters the medium has to offer, they aren’t exactly the most upstanding persons that one should idolize.
But these characters are often misunderstood by a not-so-small portion of the fandom and similar was also the case with one of Jon Hamm’s most iconic roles.

Streaming accounted for 40.3% of all TV usage in the U.S in June, per a monthly report from Nielsen. That marks not only the highest proportion of streaming viewership ever recorded in the three years Nielsen began tracking, but the best performance for any single category of viewership. Previously, the record belonged to cable, which reached 40.1% of TV usage in June 2021.
Netflix, largely driven by “Bridgerton” in the month of June but with several other high-performing titles, was the most-watched traditional streaming service of the month with 8.4% of all viewership, but YouTube outranked it with 9.9%.
With less than one-third of Netflix’s viewership, Amazon Prime Video trailed with 3.1%, and Hulu was next with 3%. Disney+ and Tubi each made up 2% of viewership and were followed by the Roku channel (1.5%), Max (1.4%), Peacock (1.2%), Paramount+ (1.1%) and Pluto (0.8%). 6% of viewership fell into a miscellaneous streaming category. (Note: Nielsen measures viewership on U.S. television sets.

Jon Hamm played the role of the advertising executive Don Draper in the period drama series Mad Men. The AMC series was known for its style and the tragic story arc of Draper in the seven-season run. The show also won multiple Golden Globes and Primetime Emmy Awards.
While Hamm gained worldwide fame for his role and had his breakthrough, he was reportedly not the first choice for the part and had to go through several auditions. The actor himself was reportedly unsure about whether he would be cast in the role as he had lost out on a role in The West Wing and went through a similar process.

Your Honor, which has been streaming on Paramount+ and Netflix, has found newfound success on top of its already record-breaking run on Showtime, and that leads to the question: Will there be a Season 3? In an interview with Deadline, CBS Studios President David Stapf addressed the question himself, cautioning fans to not get their hopes up – yet. “We love the show, and we’re hoping that it can continue, but it’s a little too soon to know or to tell,” Stapf said. “We would like there to be a Season 3 but we’re a ways away.” The legal thriller starring Bryan Cranston ranked at #1 on Paramount+ and amassed 1.5 billion minutes viewed in its first full week of also being available on Netflix in U.S. For the following week of June 10, Your Honor viewing rose to 1.9 billion minutes viewed, ranking at #2 just behind Bridgerton. “The Boys” was the third-most-streamed title in the U.S. in the week of June 10-16, per Nielsen. While that total accounts for all seasons of the Amazon Prime Video superhero series, much viewership was driven by the release of Season 4. With four days of availability for those first three episodes, the series was watched for 1.2 billion minutes during this viewing window.
The top title of the week, unsurprisingly, was “Bridgerton.” The Shonda Rhimes’ produced Regency-era drama has been making viewership headlines for nearly two months now, since the release of Season 3’s first four episodes on May 16. The season’s final four episodes dropped on June 13, driving the series to hit a massive 3.5 billion minutes watched from June 10 to 16.
After its No. 1 debut the week prior, “Your Honor” was the second-most-streamed title of the week. The Bryan Cranston legal drama, which ran on Showtime from 2020 to 2023, has seen renewed...

If there is one character that should go down in history as one of the best of all time, it would have to be Bryan Cranston’s Walter White in Breaking Bad. We recently learned that Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse star Nicolas Cage will reprise his role in Noir, a Prime Video series telling the story of an ageing and down-on-his-luck private investigator in 1930s New York, who is forced to grapple with his past life as the city's only superhero.
Now, Cage has broken his silence on the project in a recent interview with The New Yorker after being asked about his Hollywood influences.
"Well, I mean, the fantasy would be that I could try to aspire to be something more Golden Age," he started. "You know, something more like James Cagney or Humphrey Bogart. Or Hedy Lamarr or Bette Davis. I wanted to have that kind of aura, you know, like the more enigmatic, you don’t know too much."
"We’ll see what happens if I do this Amazon show [“Spider-Man Noir”], and they put me in black-and-white.
