Ryan Gosling dominates the romance genre when it comes to films. He has starred in several rom-com and heavy drama movies, but one truly stands out from the bunch: the Oscar-winning title La La Land with Emma Stone.

It brought so many tears to the eyes, but if anyone wants a heavier, more realistic drama then fans should check out another Gosling film with Michelle Williams: Blue Valentine (2010). This one truly tugs at the heartstrings.

Pride month is over, but just because it is no longer June doesn’t mean we shouldn’t stop celebrating love and telling queer stories. In fact, we should always celebrate love and tell queer stories. So, here is a list of 62 films with canon main Lgbtqia+ characters and couples. Call Me by Your Name Original Title: Call Me by Your Name Year: 2017 Director(s): Luca Guadagnino Writer(s): James Ivory, André Aciman Country: Italy, France, United States, Brazil Language: English, Italian, French, German, Hebrew Genre: Drama, Romance Motion Picture Rating (MPA): R The rather sensitive Elio (Timothée Chalamet), the only son of the American family of Italian and French Perlman ancestry, is facing another lazy summer at his parents' home in the beautiful, languid Italian countryside. Every summer, Mr. Pearlman (Michael Stuhlbarg) hosts an academic to help with his research. This year’s student, Oliver (Armie Hammer), comes to bring change.

When it comes to the golden age of horror films—hell, the golden age of films in general, I will die on the hill arguing that it is the late 1990s into the early 2000s. Sure, you might have incredibly valid reasons to argue against that, but this was a time of peak cinema when it comes to my personal media consumption. I consider it a source of pride that my strongest trivia category, were I to encounter it, would easily be Teen Movies of the late ‘90s into the early ‘00s. You see, I was at the perfect age for those movies to make an impact—a nerdy preteen with no siblings who was often glued to the TV. While everyone can easily recall gems like 10 Things I Hate About You, She’s All That, Bring it On, and Mean Girls, there are an equally large amount of teen...

Scarlet Johansson, one of the highest-paid actresses in the world, has a style that I have long admired. While embarking on the promotional trail for her new film, Fly Me to the Moon, Johansson looked every bit the leading lady. Her gorgeous outfit selections, which wonderfully complemented her ageless, feminine beauty, demonstrated her penchant for timeless, classic silhouettes.
While she may not be fully adopting the method dressing trend—which has evolved over the past year into the official dress code for high-profile media tours—her clothing choices are as classic as the conspiracy theory that serves as the basis for her new film.

When it comes to the buddy-cop chemistry between Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman, it’s not just their chemistry—it’s a full-fledged electric storm that keeps on giving! They say there are no more original ideas in Hollywood, but filmmakers Clint Bentley and Greg Kwedar want to give something new a try. At least as far as independent film financing is concerned.
The duo have directed, written and produced two films — Sing Sing, out this weekend via A24, and 2021’s Jockey — using a model that sees everyone who works on the film, from the PAs to the director to the star at the top of the call sheet, paid the same wage. Additionally, everyone involved in the production above and below the line received equity. Now, they are starting a company, Ethos, with the goal of using their model to help other independent filmmakers do the same.

Given that she usually wears plain, classic clothing, you would not think of Michelle Williams as someone who enjoys fashion. I usually see her at red carpet premieres and film awards, so I was surprised to find she recently traveled to Paris Fashion Week.
Although Pfw is the perfect fashion event for showcasing inventiveness and experimenting with styles, Williams preserved the sophistication associated with the city by embracing feminine, quiet luxury—from her dresses to her heels.

I find it interesting that Williams’ preference for classic styles with clean lines and straightforward silhouettes resonates well with the romanticism and geometric architectural designs in the Paris-based Saudi fashion house collections. It makes perfect sense that...

Sadie Sink, who never disappoints with her style choices, joined Michelle Williams at the Ashi Studio and Chanel fashion presentations during Paris Fashion Week Haute Couture Fall/Winter 2024–2025.
As one might expect from one of today’s fashion icons, the 22-year-old actress ate and left no crumbs as she demonstrated her feminine sense of style, which typically combines elegance with youthful sensibility.
From her trendy two-piece pink ensemble to her elegant white A-line dress, let’s look at Sadie Sink’s outfits from Paris Fashion Week.

Exclusive: Chloe East (The Fabelmans) is set for a key recurring role opposite Ray Romano and Lisa Kudrow in Netflix‘s upcoming comedy series No Good Deed, from creator Liz Feldman (Dead to Me).

“The Great Lillian Hall” reunites three “American Horror Story” actresses to deliver a tour de force in TV movies. Jessica Lange, Kathy Bates, and Lily Rabe all star in this HBO TV Movie, directed by Michael Cristofer, that follows the careers of fictional Broadway actress Lillian Hall.
It’s Lange who plays Lillian and the veteran actress has turned in another masterclass in acting. She has always been a commanding screen presence and that doesn’t change here as she depicts a legendary actress as a triumph on stage but a nervous wreck in rehearsals while she battles with early dementia. It’s always a treat watching icons play icons (Lange did this again in “Feud: Bette and Joan”) and while Lillian is fictional, the impact is no less felt. Critics agree, this could be Lange’s greatest performance yet.

Jennifer Aniston was showered with compliments as she featured in a selfie with makeup artist Angela Levin on Instagram. In a photo reposted to a fan account last month, the 55-year-old sitcom star showed off her Bff vibes in a sunkissed snap, one checking boxes for seeing the two together and for Jen peeping hints of her bikini body. Enjoying a sunny outdoor moment as she snuggled up to celeb-adored makeup queen Angela, the Friends star stunned as she continues to defy her age, although the photo does date back to 2022. Fans went wild over the snap, and for one user, Jennifer was looking "simply stunning."

Sony’s Spider-Man Universe hasn’t had a great start this year, with ‘Madame Web’ being a disappointing flop. However, there’s hope with two big releases lined up: ‘Kraven the Hunter’ and the last movie in the ‘Venom’ series.
Yes, you heard it right, ‘Venom: The Last Dance’ marks the end of the ‘Venom’ franchise in the Sony Spider-Man Universe. There’s speculation that the character might crossover into the MCU in the future, but that’s just hearsay for now. Given the mystery surrounding the movie, let’s summarize what we know so far about its plot, cast, release date, and other details.
The movie’s plot is kept secret
Typically, comic adaptations are rife with leaks and insider information, but the ‘Venom’ franchise has been surprisingly tight-lipped. As a result, we have no official or unofficial hints about the movie’s plot.

Sony’s Spider-Man Universe is not off to a good start this year, as the cinematic universe opened 2024 with a majestic flop ‘Madame Web.’ Luckily there are ample opportunities to turn this around since there are two notable releases awaiting us this year, ‘Kraven the Hunter,’ and the final installment of the ‘Venom’ franchise.
Yes, you’ve read that correctly, ‘Venom: The Last Dance’ is the final ‘Venom’ movie in the Ssu, with some speculations pointing in the direction that the character could be included in the MCU going forward, but as I’ve said those are just rumors. Due to the general mystery of the movie we decided to summarize everything we know about it so far, everything from plot, cast, release date & other tidbits.

Illustration by Stephanie Monohan.Kirsten Dunst has played a pageant contestant not once, but twice: famously, in the cult classic Drop Dead Gorgeous (1999), then, in a self-reflexive turn in Showtime’s short-lived satire of predatory capitalism, On Becoming a God in Central Florida (2019). In the latter, Dunst plays Krystal Stubbs, a pageant queen turned widow turned cunning representative of the Founders American Merchandise corporation. In one scene, she instructs a goth teen on a stratagem of competition: “Dazzle by any means necessary. If you want better lightin’ than the other girls, give yourself better lightin’ than the other girls.”Dunst has built a career around this principle. Having started as a child star, she has supported superhero franchises, starred in teen movies and art films alike, and worked in both film and television. In each project, she follows Krystal’s advice, juggling each character’s interiority with bigger-picture concerns. She...

With Andy Serkis stepping behind the camera, expectations were high for Venom: Let There Be Carnage. The movie ended up being a big improvement over its predecessor, but a PG-13 rating neutered Cletus Kasady and held the movie back to a large degree.
A post-credits scene teasing Venom's meeting with Spider-Man increased fan interest, only for Spider-Man: No Way Home's own stinger to send Eddie Brock back where he came from without ever meeting Peter Parker.
Venom: The Last Dance is up next and that movie will reportedly be Tom Hardy's final appearance as Eddie. Kelly Marcel, who wrote Venom and Venom: Let There Be Carnage, now writes and directs...whether that's a good or bad thing remains to be seen.
We'll soon get a first look at the threequel, though, because the BBFC (British Board of Film Classification) has just classified a 2-minute, 27-second trailer which...

Beyoncé‘s solo success was once difficult for her former Destiny’s Child bandmate Kelly Rowland to watch. The singer felt she was in Beyoncé’s shadow, which took a toll on their friendship. But years later, Rowland gained enough clarity to share her feelings on the situation through a song.

Rowland has been very open about her insecurities regarding Beyoncé’s post-Destiny’s Child success. Beyoncé thrived after breaking away from the group, having sold over 200 million records worldwide on her own. Even back in their Destiny’s Child days, Rowland felt she was playing second fiddle to the artist. That feeling only intensified after the group’s separation.

Hollywood heartthrob Glen Powell and Puerto Rican actress Adria Arjona recently collaborated on their first movie together: A comedy-action masterpiece titled Hit Man. And, unarguably enough, the duo share some undeniable chemistry onscreen that has fans swooning in commendation. In fact, even the intimate scenes they shot together look as though they were real.

But that’s hardly the case when you get to know the behind-the-scenes fiasco, especially for those particular intimate scenes. Why? Well, because what these two fan-favorite actors had to go through just to shoot those scenes must have been nothing short of hell, considering how they were in “so much pain;” learning about which would change your thoughts on those scenes being sexy at all.

It was recently confirmed that Venom: The Last Dance will be the final movie in Sony's hit franchise. That could be because Tom Hardy is ready to move on or a result of Marvel Studios having its own plans for the Symbiote.
Either way, after the runaway success of 2018's Venom and Venom: Let There Be Carnage's respectable performance in the post-pandemic 2021, Sony is no doubt hoping this trilogy ends on a high (and profitable) note.
While the movie remains shrouded in secrecy, a newly surfaced plot leak for Venom: The Last Dance has been gaining traction on social media this evening.
In that, it's said Venom sets out to kill a 10-year-old Peter Parker in an effort to avoid suffering the same fate as many of his Multiversal Variants: death at the hands of Spider-Man (which would tie into the post-credits scenes of both the Venom sequel...

Universal Pictures has set a May 15, 2026 wide release date for an as yet untitled event film to be directed by Steven Spielberg and written by David Koepp, based on Spielberg’s story.
No further details about the project were provided, though it has been reported that Spielberg and Koepp have been developing a film about UFOs.
As the 2026 calendar currently stands, the Spielberg project is the only wide release set for May 15.
Koepp previously wrote scripts for Spielberg films including 1993 blockbuster Jurassic Park, 1997’s The Lost World: Jurassic Park, 2005’s War Of The Worlds and 2008’s Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.

Network executives once came to the upfronts on a mission to get advertisers excited about a handful of new series coming in the fall. This year, TV’s big players took a T-shirt cannon approach.
Every one of the major presentations during the May 13-15 sprint in midtown Manhattan — NBCUniversal, Fox, Disney, Amazon, Warner Bros. Discovery and Netflix — emphasized the breadth of the company’s content offerings. Call it the everything-everywhere-all-at-once strategy for the streaming age.
As always, common themes emerged across the week. “Connections” was the buzziest of buzzwords used by executives pitching their hearts out from the stage. Without question, the song of Upfronts ’24, the one heard at most if not all events, was Beyoncé’s “Texas Hold ’Em.”
After sorting through the firehose of shows and spin, here are a few trends that stood out this year.
1) Star-Power Surge
Last year, the writers strike kept boldface names from appearing at the upfronts.

Throughout his decades-long career, Steven Spielberg has worked on a variety of movies and has shared many different stories from sci-fi, thrillers, and adventure to comedies and drama. While the actor has shared that every film represents him in a way, there is one that stands out for its profound connection to the filmmaker’s own life and his love for cinema, The Fabelmans.

Released in 2022, the film follows Sammy Fabelman, a character based on Spielberg, as he navigates through family dynamics, friendships, and his passion for filmmaking. Spielberg has shared that working on the movie was deeply cathartic, likening it to a costly but invaluable form of therapy.

Steven Spielberg‘s feature The Fabelmans was welcomed with critical praise when it first hit theaters. The movie was inspired by Spielberg’s own childhood, and his love for cinema at a young age. Initially, however, Spielberg wondered if the movie would’ve only amounted to a therapy session.

Spielberg has made a variety of movies over the course of his career. And despite how different one film might be from the other, the filmmaker confided they all represented him.
“Every one of my movies is a personal movie,” Spielberg told CBS in a 2022 interview. “I don’t make films that I don’t consider to have something of myself left behind in them.”
But The Fabelmans wasn’t just personal for Spielberg. It was the director’s autobiography reflecting on his discovery of film, and how that shaped his childhood.

Ang Lee is regarded as one of the most distinguished filmmakers in the Hollywood industry. Having 9 Academy Award nominations and three wins, he already has a fair share of wins and perhaps even more to come. With such understanding and dedication to his movies, the filmmaker has been fighting against any norm thrown at him for as long as he can remember.

Despite holding so many wins in his pocket, regardless of it being an Oscar, a Golden Globe, or anything else, one loss is like a thorn in his back that forever hurts him. He has made many movies throughout his career but one stood out like no other. Starring Heath Ledger, Jake Gyllenhaal, Michelle Williams, and Anne Hathaway, Brokeback Mountain became the one that slipped away.

Shooting has wrapped on Venom: The Last Dance and with a little over five months before it arrives in theaters, we're hoping an official first look is somewhere on the horizon.
Sony Pictures could do with a win after delivering flops like Morbius and Madame Web, but only time will tell whether the Venom threequel can give them one. After all, most fans aren't expecting much from Kraven the Hunter, a movie recently pushed back to December 13.
Now, a first look at the stunt team's crew gift has been revealed and it may reveal Venom: The Last Dance's big bad.
As you can see in the X post below, green is being used for the "3" in the movie's logo, while three green slashes can also be seen across the Symbiote's unmistakable face.
Looking at the comics, we have to believe this is meant as a reference to Lasher.

Opulent to outrageous, elegant to excessive, Monday night’s Met Gala red carpet was equal parts star-studded and visually stunning. Then again, with Zendaya, Jennifer Lopez, Bad Bunny and Chris Hemsworth as the evening’s co-chairs, how could it not?
Fold in scores of other stars — were there ever this many at a Met Gala? — including Nicole Kidman, Alexandra Daddario, Barry Keoghan, Ariana Grande, Cynthia Erivo, Elizabeth Debicki, Janelle Monáe, Jeremy Strong, Michelle Williams and Serena Williams, and the 2024 Met Gala ranked as among the most thrilling and stylish in recent memory.
This year’s dress code, “The Garden of Time,” took its cue from the 1962 short story of the same name by J.G. Ballard, which dovetails nicely with the latest Metropolitan Museum of Art Costume Institute exhibition, Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion, which opens to the public on Friday, May 10. Simon Curtis’ upcoming comedy Encore, about a group of veteran actors whose passion for their profession is reignited through a retirement home production, has gathered a quartet of Academy Award, Golden Globe and Emmy winning stars for the ensemble cast.
The feature reunites eight-time Academy Award-nominee and three-time Emmy Award-winner Glenn Close and Academy Award-winner Jeremy Irons 34 years after their critically acclaimed hit, Reversal of Fortune.
Three-time Emmy-winner Henry Winkler and Golden Globe and Emmy Award-winner Don Johnson have also signed for the feature.
Close and Irons play former Broadway icons Marie and Nigel, who are new residents of a retirement home, where they discover a community of forgotten talents.
Motivated to revive Nigel’s passion for theatre and embrace this new chapter in their life, Marie decides to stage a production with the residents, pulling everyone out of their past and into their present.

More than 30 years after Reversal of Fortune, Jeremy Irons and Glenn Close are ready for their Encore.
The pair, who faced off as Claus and Sunny von Bülow in the 1990 Oscar-winning thriller are set to reteam in the upcoming best-agers comedy, from British director Simon Curtis (My Week with Marilyn, Downton Abbey: A New Era).
Close and Irons, who also co-starred in Mike Nichols’ award-winning Broadway play The Real Thing, both winning Tony Awards for their performances, last shared the screen in 1993’s The House of Spirits. In Encore, they will play two former Broadway icons, Marie and Nigel, who become residents of a retirement home. Once there, they discover a community of forgotten talents and Marie decides to put on a show, hoping to revive Nigel’s passion for theatre and help him embrace this new chapter in their lives.
Henry Winkler (Barry, Arrested Development) and Don Johnson (Knives Out) are attached to co-star.

The musical adaptation of Death Becomes Her just began performances in Chicago and we have first look photos from the first preview!
The beloved 1992 movie, starring Meryl Streep and Goldie Hawn, is being turned into a stage musical with plans for a Broadway run in the near future.
Broadway favorites Megan Hilty and Jennifer Simard are leading the Chicago production as Madeline Ashton and Helen Sharp alongside Christopher Sieber as Ernest Menville and Michelle Williams as Viola Van Horn.
Madeline Ashton is the most beautiful actress (just ask her) ever to grace the stage and screen. Helen Sharp is the long-suffering author (just ask her) who lives in her shadow. They have always been the best of frenemies…until Madeline steals Helen’s fiancé away. As Helen plots revenge and Madeline clings to her rapidly fading star, their world is suddenly turned upside down by Viola Van Horn, a mysterious...

Beyoncé Knowles-Carter is an artist who needs no introduction. The multi-millionaire singer has wowed her audience with her music since she started in the industry with Destiny’s Child. After some additions and replacements, the girl group ended up with Beyonce alongside Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams in 1990.

But a decade and a half later, the singers decided to go their own way, and Beyonce ended up being a sensation in the music world with her solo career. She is not only a singer but has also tried her hands at acting, like Dreamgirls (2006) and The Lion King (2019). The latter is spawning a prequel movie with Beyonce returning to voice the character of Nala opposite Donald Glover’s Simba. But the new movie is once again, hinting at some nepotism debates to start soon.

Alien artist Hr Giger was involved in a number of film projects in the 1980s and 90s. We talk to filmmaker William Malone about some amazing films that never happened.
Given just how genre-defining 1979’s Alien was, it’s perhaps surprising that Hr Giger, the Swiss artist who designed the title monster, wasn’t involved in more films. His creations appeared in the likes of Poltergeist II: The Other Side (1986), Species (1995), plus a little-seen German indie comedy horror called Killer Condoms (1996), but none were as high-profile or influential as Alien.
In the wake of that genre-defining space horror, other artists and designers tinkered with Giger’s unforgettable xenomorph in its sequels. Giger wasn’t involved in the making of Aliens, Alien Resurrection or subsequent prequels or spin-offs, and his work for Alien 3 was barely used. Instead, Giger had the curious habit of coming up with concepts and artwork for...

Martin Scorsese and Leonardo DiCaprio’s collaboration has always turned out to be a spectacular deal as both personalities bring out their best charm on the projects. While the former makes sure to come up with a unique narrative for audiences to get hooked on, the latter showcases his skills, which is one reason why he’s reigning in fans’ hearts.

In 2014, Gayle Rankin made her Broadway debut in Sam Mendes’ revival of Cabaret, playing the supporting role of Fraulein Kost. Now, exactly a decade later, Rankin is playing the lead role of Sally Bowles opposite Eddie Redmayne in a new Broadway production that opened April 21.
“I feel like a completely different person,” says Rankin, as she sits in her dressing room in a red dressing gown, with her blond hair clipped back. “It’s so rare that you get to see your life marked by something so actual, by a piece of work. And what a piece of work to be able to gauge where you are as a human being.”
In recent years, the Scottish actress — who grew up south of Glasgow — rose to prominence with a series of film and TV roles, including The Greatest Showman and HBO’s Perry Mason, and most notably as Sheila the She-Wolf...

Sissy Spacek is heading back to the small screen, this time playing mother to Michelle Williams in the upcoming FX limited series Dying for Sex, our sister site Deadline reports.
Based on the podcast of the same name, Dying for Sex follows Molly (Williams), a woman who leaves her husband of 15 years and begins to explore her sexuality after being diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer. Molly is supported on her journey by her best friend (Jenny Slate), who remains by her side through it all. Spacek’s character Gail “has a complicated history with her daughter.”

Naomi Watts, a proud mom of a trans daughter, attended the Dior Pre-Fall show in New York City on Monday with her youngest child, Kai, as her plus one.
The stylish mother-child duo, dressed in white outfits, graced the front row among a star-studded list of attendees, joining the likes of Karlie Kloss, Rachel Zegler, Michelle Williams, Anya Taylor-Joy, Alexandra Shipp, and Charlize Theron, who brought along her 7-year-old daughter August.
I was amazed at how strikingly similar Naomi and Kai appeared as they arrived on the red carpet for the photocall before the runway show. Naomi Watts held hands with her youngest child, who turned 15 in December, as they posed for photos, demonstrating their close relationship.

Welcome to Emmy Experts Typing, a weekly column in which Gold Derby editors and Experts Joyce Eng and Christopher Rosen discuss the Emmy race — via Slack, of course. This week, we revisit the packed limited series race, which has seen three new contenders premiere in the last three weeks.
Christopher Rosen: Hello, Joyce! We’ve circled back to what is arguably the most competitive Emmys category this year: limited series. It feels like as good a time as any to return to my favorite race – particularly with “Shōgun” and Anna Sawai dominating the discourse, as well as the premiere of our dark horse favorite “Under the Bridge.” We talked about both shows this week with our voices, and I must say, it feels heartening — dare I type, Siri pay “Vindicated” – to have been so right about “Shōgun.” We both loved that show way back in February and the response has been off the charts.

For those like myself, who adore witnessing Anya Taylor-Joy grace the scene in enchanting gowns adorned with flowing fabrics and soft pastel hues, it’s time to prepare for a shift.
She’s undergoing a style metamorphosis, embracing a fusion of ethereal textures and an all-black aesthetic.
Anya Taylor-Joy captivates with sartorial duality, first in a sophisticated Christian Dior black midi dress with sheer details and opera gloves at the Dior Pre-Fall show, then exuding edgy allure in a studded Ludovic de Saint Sernin mini dress alongside Chris Hemsworth at CinemaCon 2024 (Credit: Instarimages)
Lately, Anya has been gravitating towards a darker palette, likely influenced by her role in her upcoming movie, Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga, which will hit theaters on May 24.
In this film, she embodies the titular character Imperator Furiosa, a member of a motorcycle horde and a younger iteration of the role Charlize Theron portrayed in 2015’s Mad Max: Fury Road.
She’s undergoing a style metamorphosis, embracing a fusion of ethereal textures and an all-black aesthetic.
