Ramon Watkins is an Australian screenwriter and filmmaker, and a participant of the 2021 Impact Australia program, with his half-hour queer dark comedy "Daddies".
He is also a recipient of the 2020 In Dreams Screenwriting Fellowship, awarded to 2 Australian screenwriters annually.
Ramon made his ABC iView directing debut in 2018 with the short documentary Dances, which explores queer experiences through dance and animation, and was inspired by his own use of apps like Grindr. It went on to screen at prestigious festivals internationally (including Outfest 2018), and earned him QueerScreen's Emerging Queer Filmmaker award in February 2019.
A working editor, Ramon made his first foray into long-form editing with the documentary Camino Skies, which earned him a nomination for Best Feature Editing at DocEdge 2019. After a successful theatrical run in Australia and New Zealand, including becoming the No.1 documentary in New Zealand for 2019, it was released on demand in the UK in 2020.
