Chris Evans’s journey in the MCU as Captain America was nothing short of epic. He started with a stand-alone film and went on to become one of the franchise’s most pivotal characters, ultimately retiring in Endgame after choosing to live out his days with Peggy in the past. Regardless of what Evans does in the future, Captain America will always be one of his most iconic roles.
Meanwhile, Josh Brolin has also had an extensive career in comic book movies, with Thanos being his most notable role, although far from his only one. Unlike Evans, whose transition into the world of comic books was expected, Brolin, known for his more serious and complex roles, brought an unexpected and valuable presence to the superhero genre.

Chris Evans’s MCU journey as Captain America, who made his film debut in a stand-alone film and went on to become one of the MCU’s most significant characters until retiring in Endgame and choosing to stay with Peggy in the past, was an epic one and whatever Evans does, Captain America will remain with him as one of his most popular roles of all time.
At the same time, Josh Brolin also has a very rich comic book movie career, with Thanos being the most significant comic book role he’s played, although it is not the only one. While Evans’ inclusion in the world of comic books is not surprising, Josh Brolin generally plays more serious and/or complex roles, which is why his presence in this world was both surprising and beneficial for the world of superhero comics.

Let’s talk about a rivalry that you might be ignoring. Josh Brolin vs Chris Evans. It has been more than half a decade since we have witnessed Captain America and The Mad Titan go toe-to-toe against each other, with their last appearances in Marvel’s Avengers Endgame. But for Josh Brolin and Chris Evans, the clash just transmuted into a race. A race to determine who plays the most number of comic book characters on screen.
Ladies and Gentlemen, in the right corner, we have his insane range, from being the optimistic and charming Captain America to the brooding bad boy Lucas Lee in Scott Pilgrim vs. the World, we have none other than Chris Evans, and on the right corner. The Mad Titan, the Man in Black, with a rep so dark that even his Marvel roles feel straight out of DC Universe to the Marvel Jesus himself – Josh Brolin.

There's a huge amount of intrigue surrounding James Gunn's plans for the Dcu and, this week, the decision to potentially cast Avengers: Infinity War star Josh Brolin as Hal Jordan in HBO's Lanterns has raised eyebrows among fans.
The 56-year-old actor isn't exactly who the majority expected to play the iconic Green Lantern Corps member; now, though, scooper Daniel Richtman has shared some rumoured insights into DC Studios' approach to the character.
Apparently, "they're eyeing Josh Brolin because their vision for Hal Jordan is to have him as an older, gruff, no-nonsense mentor to a younger and reckless John Stewart. And as we know, Brolin excels at playing the grumpy type."
That sounds very much in line with what we'd expected and it's clear now that Gunn has some very specific plans for the Dcu's Hal.
Addressing what the filmmaker is going for beyond that character, Richtman says he's...

This week, Lanterns has dominated headlines thanks to the news that Josh Brolin is being eyed to play the Dcu's Hal Jordan. Since then, we've learned that Ewan McGregor, Matthew McConaughey, Chris Pine, and Timothy Olyphant are also in the mix.
Seeing as all but one of those actors are in their 50s, the rumours have divided opinions. After 2011's disappointing Green Lantern movie starring Ryan Reynolds, fans have waited patiently to see Hal again and the prospect of him not being in his "prime" doesn't sit well with everyone.
In this feature, we're looking at the arguments for and against the Dcu's Hal Jordan being an older superhero. There are a few clear benefits to a more experienced version of the former pilot and then also some negatives which have left us concerned about the creative direction this shared world is heading in on Gunn's watch.

Earlier this week, we learned that Avengers: Infinity War and Deadpool 2 star Josh Brolin is being eyed for the role of Hal Jordan in HBO's Lanterns.
While we'd heard DC Studios wants an older actor to play the hero, the expectation had been that Hal would be in his early 40s at most; instead, the Green Lantern Corps member is clearly a veteran and will perhaps become the villainous Parallax sooner rather than later.
Following the news about Brolin, we heard yesterday evening that Ewan McGregor (Harley Quinn: Birds of Prey) and Matthew McConaughey (Deadpool and Wolverine) are also in contention for the role and Nexus Point News has just shared another update.
Apparently, Chris Pine (Wonder Woman 1984) and Timothy Olyphant (The Mandalorian) are also on DC Studios' shortlist for Hal, and while McConaughey is a contender, he's not the frontrunner if Brolin says no.

Following recent reports that Josh Brolin has been offered the role of Hal Jordan in the upcoming Lanterns HBO series, we have word on two other A-list actors who may also be in contention to play the legendary ring-slinging hero.
According to Jeff Sneider, both Ewan McGregor and Matthew McConaughey are on DC Studios' radar, and will be offered the part in the event that Brolin declines.
Sneider also mentions that the series is "modelled after True Detective."
Fans appear to be somewhat divided on Brolin (56) potentially suiting-up as Jordan, primarily due to the Dune star's age. But McGregor and McConaughey are only slightly younger at 53 and 54, respectively, so the show is clearly set to introduce an older take on this character and that's all there is to it.
Emmy Award-winning Lost and Watchmen creator Damon Lindelof is working on the pilot script along with Ozark showrunner Chris Mundy and comic book writer Tom King.

The DC Universe is currently preparing for its relaunch. Under DC Studios' James Gunn and Peter Safran, the movie series will start over, kickstarting a brand new chapter in the history of DC characters on the big screen and the small screen. The franchise officially launches with animated series Creature Commandos whenever it debuts in winter of this year, before Gunn's own-directed Superman brings in the mainstream audiences in July next year.
Gunn and Safran are no strangers to both the superhero and the DC genre. The latter has been involved in a number of DC productions while the former is best known for his critically-acclaimed Guardians of the Galaxy trilogy for Marvel Studios (he also directed DC's The Suicide Squad).

Back when he was on the Deadpool 2 promotion circuit, Josh Brolin would get in on the joke of deriding the unpopular Green Lantern film adaptation from 2011 that starred his co-star, Ryan Reynolds. Now, Brolin may be taking it a step further by inhabiting the role of Hal Jordan himself for the upcoming HBO series Lanterns.

Recent rumors suggest that Josh Brolin may be making a move from the MCU to the Dcu. Known for his roles as Thanos in the first few phases of the MCU and Cable in “Deadpool 2,” Brolin could be transitioning to the rival DC universe.
According to several industry insiders, Brolin is reportedly cast as Hal Jordan in the upcoming “Lanterns” TV show, which will focus on three prominent Green Lanterns: Guy Gardner, Hal Jordan, and John Stewart.
This rumor matches earlier reports suggesting that the showrunners are seeking an older actor to portray Hal Jordan as a mentor-like figure. Although Brolin seems to fit the description of an older, more seasoned Hal Jordan well, fan reactions are mixed.

Dcu has plenty of projects in the works under the watchful eyes of James Gunn and Peter Safran. The projects closest to us are the ‘Creature Commandos’ animated series and ‘Superman’ scheduled for a 2025 release, still plenty of live-action shows focusing on the most notable DC characters are in the works.

After it was recently revealed that Gunn is reportedly trying to rope in Marvel star Josh Brolin to play Hal Jordan, these deep wounds were once again reopened, stirring up fresh emotions. However, fans are not seeing the vision that Gunn is trying to bring to life.

Over a decade since starring in a notorious DC flop, Josh Brolin has been asked to join the cast of Lanterns, it seems.
Because Josh Brolin is pretty uniformly excellent as an actor, his occasional forays into the world of superhero movies have rewarded us with a couple of notable Marvel characters. His taciturn take on Cable worked as a straight man to Ryan Reynolds Deadpool in 2018’s Deadpool 2, while his Thanos would be in any discussion for the greatest comic book villain of all time, no mean feat considering some of performances he’d be judged against.
2010’s Jonah Hex didn’t reach the same level of success as those other characters, with Brolin’s one collaboration with DC not really working out to anybody’s satisfaction. Still, it looks like the actor may have been offered an opportunity to finally create a definitive take on a DC character,...

It might be the Labor Day holiday here in the States, but James Gunn and his rapidly-expanding DC Universe isn't taking a single day off. While the new studio CEO is currently busy guiding his "Superman" reboot to the finish line, Gunn and his DC Studios co-head Peter Safran have also been multitasking as they further flesh out the franchise around their golden goose. One of the more high-profile projects that's being developed comes in the form of a new series titled "Lanterns," initially described as a riff on "True Detective" and one that will center primarily on the (arguably) underserved character of John Stewart. But as befitting its name, there will be various other Green Lanterns fighting for their share of screen time, not least of which will be Hal Jordan. Now, according to a new report, we have a better idea of who might be in consideration to...

We had heard that a "noteworthy name" was being sought to play veteran Green Lantern Hal Jordan in the upcoming Dcu Lanterns series, and a new rumor is claiming that the studio has set its sights on a former MCU actor for the role.
According to Nexus Point News - who have broken some pretty big DC-related scoops over the past few weeks - Josh Brolin has been offered the part, though the site notes that he hasn't actually entered talks and might well decline.
Brolin is no stranger to the Cbm/superhero genre, having played Thanos in the Infinity Saga and Cable in Deadpool 2. He has also technically played a DC character in the much-maligned Jonah Hex movie.
Casting is also underway for a Black actor between 27–35 years old to play John Stewart, the younger Lantern Jordan takes under his wing.

Presumably because movies like Joker and Cruella proved that audiences just love villain origin stories, this week we’re getting Reagan, a brand new biopic about the 40th President of the United States starring Dennis Quaid, Penelope Ann Miller and Jon Voight. Oh, and Creed frontman Scott Stapp as Frank Sinatra, because this movie is clearly some kind of collective fever dream.
But years before Quaid saddled up for the role (literally), we nearly got a movie about Ronald Reagan, also called Reagan, starring Will Ferrell. That may sound kind of odd, but it’s not like he didn’t have years of experience playing terrible presidents.
Back in 2016, it was reported that Ferrell’s production company, Gary Sanchez, had acquired Reagan, a screenplay by Mike Rosolio that appeared on the annual Black List, which collects the year’s best unproduced film scripts. Ferrell was attached to star in the...

Denis Villeneuve is set to host a Dune double-header on a giant Imax screen at the upcoming Toronto Film Festival.
On Sept. 10, the Canadian director will introduce a screening of Dune: Part One at the Scotiabank Theatre and, after an intermission, will follow up a screening of Dune: Part Two with a Q&a session. Villeneuve, a frequent visitor to TIFF, is expected to let his festival audience in on his creative process behind bring Frank Herbert’s epic saga to the big screen.
The original Dune film in 2021 starred Timothée Chalamet, Rebecca Ferguson, Oscar Isaac, Josh Brolin, Stellan Skarsgård, and Zendaya. It's actually quite a feat to have been left out of "Deadpool & Wolverine," which was, as /Film's Chris Evangelista put it, a disappointing cameo-fest. Whether you agree with the "disappointing" part, the "cameo-fest" part cannot be denied. "Deadpool & Wolverine" went further than any Marvel Cinematic Universe film yet (and maybe any film in general) when it came to guest appearances. This movie packed in a host of characters from the erstwhile 20th Century Fox Marvel universe, while also debuting several "What-If"-style heroes in the form of Channing Tatum's Gambit and Henry Cavill's "Cavill-rine."
Beyond that, we got guest appearances from Wesley Snipes' Blade, voice cameos from both Matthew McConaughey and star Ryan Reynolds' wife Blake Lively, and even saw MCU characters such as Chris Hemsworth's Thor and Jon Favreau's Happy Hogan. The sheer amount of cameos in this film really is dizzying. So...

"Deadpool 2" is known for many things. It was the sequel to one of the biggest R-rated hits in cinema history. It also did the classic thing of going bigger than its predecessor, with larger action set pieces and more characters from throughout the Marvel universe -- most notably, the time-traveling mutant Cable, a fan-favorite from the comics who was played by Josh Brolin in the film. But before Brolin landed the part, a certain WWE superstar auditioned for the role.
Randy Orton, aka The Viper, was recently a guest on the WWE talk show "What Do You Wanna Talk About?" During the conversation, the longtime staple of the ring revealed that he auditioned for the role of Cable, which would have been by far his biggest foray into Hollywood to date. As Orton explained in the interview, his journey with the character was a short one:
"I do auditions here and there.

Only a handful of professional wrestlers have successfully made the leap from the squared circle to Hollywood. Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson (Black Adam), Dave Bautista (Guardians of the Galaxy), and John Cena (Peacemaker) remain the most obvious examples, though you may have also seen Randy Orton in a few movies - and TV shows - over the years.
The Viper made his feature debut in 12 Rounds 2: Reloaded and later appeared in The Condemned 2, Countdown, Shooter, and Changeland.
In a sit-down interview with fellow WWE Superstar (and current Undisputed WWE Champion) Cody Rhodes, Orton revealed that he was among those who auditioned for the role of Cable in 2018's Deadpool 2.
"So, I do auditions here and there. I remember I got an audition early on when I finally got some representation in that industry," he explained (via TheRingReport.com). "I think Deadpool 2? Cable. I read for Cable and in my head,...

Ryan Reynolds wasn't going to hold anything back when it came time for Deadpool's arrival in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. A big part of his triumphant MCU debut was packing "Deadpool & Wolverine" with some of the biggest and best cameos yet seen in a Marvel film. The movie is positively brimming with guest appearances, from Channing Tatum's Gambit to Henry Cavill's "Cavillrine" — a cameo that some would argue proves Cavill has been in the wrong superhero universe the whole time.
But aside from these fun "what if" guest spots, "Deadpool & Wolverine" was also concerned with paying tribute to the now-shuttered Fox Marvel Universe. Prior to Disney's takeover of 20th Century Fox, the studio was cranking out X-Men movies left and right, and gave rise to Hugh Jackman's mighty Logan/Wolverine in the process. If Ryan Reynolds was going to bring Jackman out of Wolverine retirement for his big MCU debut,...

Deadpool & Wolverine was recently released and is already breaking box office records, emerging as one of the most profitable MCU films in recent times. A significant factor in its success is the return of Marvel’s legacy characters, including Evans’ Human Torch, Garner’s Elektra, and Snipes’ Blade.
Additionally, Reynolds and Levy made a concerted effort to reunite the crew from previous Deadpool films, further contributing to the movie’s triumph.
Notably, Morena Baccarin, Rob Delaney, Leslie Uggams, Karan Soni, Briana Hildebrand, Shioli Kutsuna, and Stefan Kapičić all reprised their roles, but T.J. Miller’s Weasley was conspicuously absent.
This omission is likely related to Miller’s recent legal issues and allegations of sexual abuse. Miller attempted to downplay his absence by claiming a lack of interest in the movie. Despite their past collaboration, Reynolds and Miller reportedly had a strained relationship, though Reynolds has never commented on it personally.

‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ was recently released, and the movie is so far shattering box office records as one of the most profitable MCU movies in recent times. Much of the movie’s success depended on the fact that Marvel’s legacy characters were brought back such as Evans’ Human Torch, Garner’s Elektra, and Snipes’ Blade.

Hey, did you know "Deadpool & Wolverine" has cameos? Of course you did, because this movie is so stuffed with guest appearances that it is, as /Film's Chris Evangelista put it, a disappointing cameo-fest. Whether you were actually disappointed by the sheer level of cameo-ism on display in the movie will depend on several factors, such as how much of a Marvel fan you are and how seriously you take the film. Viewed as a light-hearted piece of box office entertainment, the constant guest spots can actually make "Deadpool & Wolverine" a grand old time at the movies, especially if you're a fan of the erstwhile 20th Century Fox Marvel films.

"Dune" is an interesting science-fiction world because it is extremely fantastical in many places, like the Spice Guild's mutant navigators, the anti-gravity attack of "Dune: Part Two," everything about the giant worms, and of course, "God Emperor of Dune," a story so bizarre only a cartoon has dared adapt it. And yet, it is also a world that is clearly meant to be based in our universe. In the books, the Atraides trace their line back to ancient Greece, and Paul reads from a book that talks about Earth, or Old Terra, the planet thought to be where humanity originated. Paul even compares himself to Genghis Khan and Hitler at one point.
The line between the fantastical and the grounded is rather thin in "Dune," and in Denis Villeneuve's adaptations we almost got some very specific and contemporary Canadian lingo make its way to Arrakis. As Josh Brolin told Collider,...

Released over a week ago, ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ is now breaking box-office records and paving the way for future MCU projects, particularly with the integration of mutants into the universe.
The film’s marketing campaign promised numerous cameos and variants, and it largely delivered, delighting fans with appearances from Jennifer Garner’s Elektra, Chris Evans’ Human Torch, Wesley Snipes’ Blade, and Channing Tatum’s Gambit. However, one significant absence was Josh Brolin’s Cable.
If you’ve been keeping up with Brolin’s interviews, you’d know he has consistently denied rumors of his appearance in the film over the past few months. Nevertheless, he expressed disappointment about not being included, as he has a strong affection for the role and was eager to be part of it. Brolin spoke about his absence a few months before the movie’s release:

Either Andy Cohen was actually curious about Saturday Night Live celebrity hosts, or he really wanted to get some mileage out of his awful “Show and Sn-Tell” pun. No matter his intention, he decided to play a lightning round with cast member Ego Nwodim this week on Watch What Happens Live. Cohen threw out a host, then asked Nwodim to share “something fascinating” about working with them.
Here’s what she had to say…
Josh Brolin
Brolin took one look at Nwodim and determined she hadn’t seen enough movies. “He was right,” Nwodim admitted. “He sent me a text message with 50 must-watch movies.” Cohen loved Brolin’s gesture, asking Nwodim which of the cinematic suggestions she had seen. “I still haven’t done my homework, but I’ll get there.”

Nwodim was part of SNL’s traditional Tuesday night host dinner when Bad Bunny came to town.

Amazon Studios has officially canceled “Outer Range,” the mind-bending sci-fi Western starring Josh Brolin, after just two seasons. The series, which blended elements of paranormal mystery with rugged rural drama, will not return for a third season on Prime Video, as confirmed by an individual close to the decision.
Created by Brian Watkins and executive produced by a team including Brad Pitt, the show followed Royal Abbott (Brolin), a Wyoming rancher fighting for his land and family after discovering a mysterious dark void on his property. The second season, which premiered on May 16, delved deeper into the Abbott family’s struggles following the disappearance of their granddaughter, raising the stakes and intensifying the enigma surrounding them.

Outer Range, the sci-fi drama series our own Alex Maidy called the weirdest show you’re not watching, has been cancelled after two seasons. With so many TV shows out there, it’s always a shame when a good show slips through the cracks, which feels like what has happened with Outer Range.
The series stars Josh Brolin as Royal Abbott, a rancher fighting for his territory and family at the edge of Wyoming’s wilderness who must grapple with the unknown after discovering an unfathomable mystery on his land in the form of a dark void. The mystery deepens in the second season as Royal and his wife Cecelia struggle to keep their family together in the aftermath of their granddaughter’s sudden disappearance. The stakes have never been higher for the Abbotts, who now face threats on multiple fronts.

Is there anything worse than a show you love being canceled?
Just give a hearty "no" your best rebel yell. We all agree.
Today, Amazon has decided there will be no more Outer Range.
Outer Range is one of the last remaining unique shows on TV.

One by one, the shows that challenge expectations and entertain beyond lame drama are taking their leave, and we don't like it one bit.
Outer Range Season 1 was released episodically, which allowed fans to ponder the mystery, discuss theories, and enjoy the slow reveal of its many layers.
For Outer Range Season 2, Prime Video chose the drop-all-at-once route.
While that's great for binge-watchers, it does nothing for those who love chatting and theorizing about their favorite shows.
It also fails to keep viewers around for the longer term.

Prime Video won’t be headed back to Outer Range.
The Amazon-owned streamer has canceled the series, which featured a blend of Western and sci-fi storytelling, after two seasons. The news comes not quite two months after the show’s second season premiered with a binge release.
Outer Range stars Josh Brolin as a Wyoming rancher who discovers a mysterious black void on his property, while also fighting to keep his land out of the hands of a rival family with whom he has a long-standing feud. Imogen Poots, Lili Taylor, Tamara Podemski, Lewis Pullman, Tom Pelphrey, Noah Reid, Shaun Sipos, Isabel Arraiza, Olive Abercrombie and Will Patton also star.
Outer Range premiered on Prime Video in April 2022 and scored a season two pickup in October of that year. The series also changed showrunners at that time, with Charles Murray taking over for Zev Borow.
