Ic 814: The Kandahar Hijack is a six-episode limited series, with which noted Indian filmmaker Anubhav Sinha debuts on the Ott platform. The history behind the hijacking of the Indian Airlines flight Ic 814 is already available in the public domain, so a fictional show inspired by these real-life events may become a frivolous attempt if it doesn’t carefully balance factual accuracy with creative freedom. But Sinha, along with his co-writer Trishant Srivastava and Adrian Levy, who takes credit for the story, respects the gravity of the events. They craft a riveting narrative that not only captures our attention but also compels us to engage deeply with the unfolding drama, even as we remain acutely aware of the outcome. It is a tense hijack thriller that refuses to adhere to the tried and tested tropes of high-octane action sequences or principal characters blurting out nationalistic rhetoric or jingoistic dialogues to...

The Kandahar Hijack is often cited as an example of the failure of Indian diplomacy during a crisis. The delayed decision-making, the fear of taking on the onus, and the lack of a clear vision resulted in the loss of an innocent life and a seven-day-long hijack of Indian Airlines Flight 814. Directed by Anubhav Sinha, Ic 814: The Kandahar Hijack dives deep to understand the delayed negotiation and the impact that it had on the passengers.
The series is an adaptation of Flight Into Fear by Captain Devi Sharan and Srinjoy Chowdhury, starring veteran actors Naseeruddin Shah and Pankaj Kapoor as the chiefs of the crisis management group. The series also features Vijay Verma as Captain Sharan, Patralekhaa Paul as flight attendant Indrani, and Dia Mirza as Shalini Chandra, editor of Indian Headlines. "Wild Wild Punjab” is an Indian comedy directed by Simarpreet Singh starring Patralekhaa Paul, Sunny Singh and Varun Sharma.
If you were tickled by the zany antics of “The Hangover” (2009) featuring Bradley Cooper, where friends following a wild night in Vegas have no recollection of their outlandish adventures, “Wild Wild Punjab” is sure to capture your interest. The film, which shares a similar plot to The Hangover, albeit set in India and imbued with the distinct flavor of Bollywood, is a pure comedy designed to entertain – a goal it wholeheartedly achieves thanks to four brilliant performers who each play their parts to comedic perfection. And yes, the film does include fun musical numbers typical of Bollywood.
The storyline of “Wild Wild Punjab” revolves around four friends who embark on an intoxicating journey, which spirals out of control due to their excessive alcohol consumption. One of them ends up married in a strange place.

Eminent filmmaker Ananth Narayan Mahadevan is in post-production on “Phule,” about the pioneers of women’s education in India.
Jyotirao Govindrao Phule and his wife Savitribai were social reformers known for their efforts against India’s endemic caste system. Phule’s first school for girls was founded in Pune, western India, in 1848. In 1873, Jyotirao Phule and his followers began the Satyashodhak Samaj (Truth-seekers’ Society) to campaign for increased rights for the underprivileged. In 1888, the honorific Mahatma (great soul), a term later used to describe Gandhi, was accorded to Phule.
“The two of them are lethal, the husband and wife, because at a time when the girl child was being refused education and just pushed into marriage, Jyotirao chose to actually educate his little wife – she was just 11 at that time, he was 17 when they got married, because it was the time of child marriage,” Mahadevan told Variety.

Although I’m nothing in comparison to Aamir Khan, for me, he’s the school of acting. I get inspired every time I watch him on screen. When people compare me with him, of course I feel happy.
