Peacock on Thursday revealed the premiere date for Teacup, its horror series inspired by the New York Times bestselling novel Stinger by Robert McCammon.
A new teaser also was released for the series that drops October 10 on the streamer (watch it above). Starring Scott Speedman and Yvonne Strahovski, Teacup follows a disparate group of people on a ranch who must come together in the face of a mysterious threat. The first season comprises eight 30-minute episodes.
“When I read these scripts, I knew there was going to be a very character-based slow burn,” Speedman told reporters before the series’ Comic-Con panel. “It takes awhile to get going, but then when it does, it just becomes more meaningful and the horror elements kick in.”

The Peacock streaming service has announced that the first two episodes of the James Wan-produced series Teacup, which is an adaptation of the 1988 bestseller Stinger, written by Robert R. Peacock’s forthcoming horror series Teacup revealed its premiere date and frightening first footage — but not too much else — during its panel at San Diego Comic-Con on Thursday.
Executive producers James Wan (Saw, Aquaman) and Ian McCulloch (Yellowstone) and stars Yvonne Strahovski, Scott Speedman and Chaske Spencer took part in the event for the series, and they all remained fairly tight-lipped to avoid giving away too much. Teacup is set to launch with its first two half-hour episodes on Oct. 10, followed by two episodes being released weekly through Halloween.
Hailing from Wan’s banner Atomic Monster, Teacup adapts author Robert McCammon’s book Stinger and centers on a group of individuals in rural Georgia who must put their differences aside to survive a mysterious threat. During the panel, McCulloch explained that the series pared down the sprawling book to make it feel more focused on specific characters.

CBS is headed to the infamous “Area 51” with an upcoming single-camera comedy that’s being produced by James Wan’s company Atomic Monster, Deadline reports this week.
Steven Lilien and Bryan Wynbrandt (“God Friended Me”) are behind the series for CBS.
“Written and executive produced by Lilien, Wynbrandt and Laura Moran, “Area 51″ follows the humans and Aliens that work together at the country’s most mysterious place.”
Deadline notes in their exclusive report this morning, “The half-hour workplace comedy, now in development, is single-camera, indicating that CBS continues to opportunistically take shots in the single-camera comedy space where it has had a lot of success with the recently departed juggernaut Young Sheldon and ongoing hit Ghosts.”
James Wan, Michael Clear and Rob Hackett produce for Atomic Monster.

Exclusive: God Friended Me creators Steven Lilien and Bryan Wynbrandt are returning to CBS, teaming with the former The Neighborhood writer-producer Laura Moran, James Wan’s Atomic Monster and CBS Studios for Area 51.
The half-hour workplace comedy, now in development, is single-camera, indicating that CBS continues to opportunistically take shorts in the single-camera comedy space where it has had a lot of success with the recently departed juggernaut Young Sheldon and ongoing hit Ghosts.
Last year, CBS ordered only multi-camera comedy pilots, and its two new comedy series for next season are both multi-cam, Poppa’s House and the Young Sheldon spinoff Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage.
Multi-camera comedies are cheaper to produce, making them attractive for broadcast networks as budgets get squeezed amid declining linear ratings. For studios, broadcast single-camera comedies are hard to justify financially because of their higher cost and depressed network license fees.

Back in March, we heard that production had wrapped on the Stephen King adaptation The Monkey, which is coming our way from the team of producer / genre regular James Wan and director Osgood Perkins, whose credits include The Blackcoat’s Daughter (a.k.a. February), I Am the Pretty Thing That Lives in the House, Gretel & Hansel, and the upcoming Nicolas Cage horror film Longlegs , which will be reaching theatres on July 12th (you can read our review Here), courtesy of Neon – and they’ll also be be giving The Monkey a theatrical release on February 21, 2025. So we’ll be getting two Osgood Perkins movies from Neon just seven months apart – and while doing the press rounds for Longlegs, Perkins has revealed that he has made The Monkey “deliberately comedic.”
During an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Perkins was asked to confirm that The Monkey is “the funniest movie he’s ever made?...

Stephen King has a knack for coming up with stories that can scare people left, right, and center. His penchant for weaving worlds was something out of the ordinary. No wonder people are filled with awe whenever they hear the name of a King classic. And it seems that they are about to be awestruck again, as it has been confirmed that another movie based on one of his stories is going to be released next year. And it is all set to scare your hearts away.

Back in March, we heard that production had wrapped on the Stephen King adaptation The Monkey, which is coming our way from the team of producer / genre regular James Wan and director Osgood Perkins, whose credits include The Blackcoat’s Daughter (a.k.a. February), I Am the Pretty Thing That Lives in the House, Gretel & Hansel, and the upcoming Nicolas Cage horror film Longlegs. Longlegs will be reaching theatres on July 12th, courtesy of Neon – and today, Neon has announced that they will be giving The Monkey a theatrical release on February 21, 2025. So we’ll be getting two Osgood Perkins movies from Neon just seven months apart.
Perkins wrote the screenplay for The Monkey, working from a King short story. The film will tell the following story: When twin brothers Hal and Bill discover their father’s old monkey toy in the attic, a series of gruesome deaths starts occurring all around them.

James Wan has another horror universe in the making, and while it’s unfortunately not for 2021’s “Malignant,” this offshoot of “M3GAN” may be the next best thing. Deadline reports that Wan’s Atomic Monster banner and Blumhouse will team up again for “SOULM8TE,” a new spinoff to the early 2023 horror hit. It’ll be the third film in the “M3GAN” franchise, after “M3GAN 2.0,” which hits theaters next year on June 27, 2025.

The latest edition to the cinematic universe of 2022’s M3GAN has been announced: SOULM8TE, an erotic sci-fi thriller due in January 2026 via Universal.
Directed by Kate Dolan (You Are Not My Mother), SOULM8TE is being developed by James Wan’s Atomic Monster and Jason Blum’s Blumhouse, and will expand on the world that M3GAN was set in. Plot-wise, it will follow a man who acquires an AI lovebot after the death of his wife, only for it to become a deadly menace.
Speaking about the new movie in a statement, Dolan said, “Fundamentally, I view this film as an exploration of relationships and loneliness. Despite technological advances, there are enduring human truths we cannot escape, and I am looking forward to delving into those depths.”

The M3GAN universe is expanding as Blumhouse is planning a new entry into the franchise with Soulm8te.
M3GAN was one of 2023’s biggest hits. After the trailer went viral, expectations were high for the creepy robot doll movie and the film more than delivered on the promise of campy horror with a side of thoughtful exploration of AI.
We already knew that a M3GAN sequel was on the way, but Blumhosue and Atomic Monster are also working on another film set in the same universe. Titled Soulm8te, the film is set for release in 2026.
Variety reports that the film will follow a man who “acquires an Artificially Intelligent android to cope with the loss of his recently deceased wife.” That seems like a great idea. We hope nothing goes wrong!

Looking for some exciting MCU news to liven up your Friday morning? Look no further! Yes, the MCU — that's the M3GAN Cinematic Universe, of course — is branching out. With M3GAN 2.0 already under construction, Deadline are reporting that Blumhouse and Atomic Monster are hard at work on SOULM8TE, a 90s style erotic thriller spin-off film to be directed by You Are Not My Mother's Kate Dolan.
James Wan, Ingrid Bisu, and Rafael Jordan have devised the story for SOULM8TE, with Dolan rewriting the film's latest draft. Per Deadline's reporting, the plot for this one will follow a man who gets an AI android to help cope with his wife's death, only for the bot to turn deadly. It's an intriguing premise that calls to mind Black Mirror's brilliant Hayley Atwell and Domhnall Gleeson episode 'Be Right Back' (only more murderous). And given the emotional rawness...

James Wan built the Conjuring Universe out of his 2013 film The Conjuring, producing sequels, spin-offs, a Universe-adjacent film (The Curse of La Llorona), and now there’s a TV series in the works. And it looks like he’s interested in doing something similar with the 2022 film M3GAN. While the sequel M3GAN 2.0 is in the works and aiming for a June 27, 2025 theatrical release, Deadline reports that the recently merged companies Atomic Monster (headed up by Wan) and Blumhouse Productions (headed up by Jason Blum) are developing SOULM8TE, “a new movie in the M3GAN universe.” Universal Pictures has already picked out a release date for the film: January 2, 2026.

The "M3GAN" universe is expanding beyond the pint-sized killer bestie for children, and giving something wild as hell for adult viewers who need something a little stronger than a cartwheel and a creepy rendition of David Guetta and Sia's "Titanium" to give them a good scare. As was announced today, Blumhouse Productions and James Wan's Atomic Monster are currently developing "SOULM8TE," a 1990s-style erotic thriller "with a new technological twist." We have been in a drought of good erotic thrillers for years, so this announcement is exciting, overdue, and exactly the type of project Blumhouse needs to get audiences hyped after this lackluster 2024. Here's the film's very intriguing synopsis:
In "SOULM8TE," a man acquires an Artificially Intelligent android to cope with the loss of his recently deceased wife. In an attempt to create a truly sentient partner, he inadvertently turns a harmless lovebot into a deadly soulmate.

Three horror powerhouses are coming together for The Monkey, an adaptation of the Stephen King story produced by James Wan and directed by Osgood Perkins (Longlegs).
Neon will likely release The Monkey sometime in 2025, but what can you expect from Osgood Perkins’ take on the classic King story? For starters, it’s Nothing like Longlegs.
Perkins tells Bloody Disgusting’s Boo Crew Podcast this week, “It’s gonna feel more like Misery or Creepshow or Gremlins or American Werewolf. It couldn’t be Less like Longlegs. Evil Dead Rise director Lee Cronin is getting back to work on a new screenplay for a horror movie he describes as "wickedly entertaining and terrifying." In addition to writing the script, Cronin will direct this new film, which New Line Cinema is currently set to release in theaters on April 17, 2026.
Cronin's untitled project has been snapped up by Jason Blum's Blumhouse and James Wan's Atomic Monster, notable because Blumhouse and Atomic Monster recently finalized their merger, and Cronin's project is the first to receive an official greenlight under their new banner. The director's own production outfit, Doppelgängers, will also be involved. In March 2024, Cronin signed a first-look deal with New Line Cinema under his Doppelgängers banner.
Grossing more than $147 million globally, Evil Dead Rise was a big hit in 2023, and it also garnered significant critical acclaim, hitting a high 84% approval rate on Rotten Tomatoes and earning a Certified Fresh seal.

At the start of 2023, filmmaker M. Night Shyamalan secured a multi-year deal with Warner Bros., and soon after that deal was made, we heard that his first movie for Warner Bros. would be Trap, a “psychological thriller set at a concert”. That project made its way through production toward the end of last year, with lead roles going to Josh Hartnett, fresh off his appearance in Oppenheimer (pictured below), and Shyamalan’s daughter Saleka. The film was aiming for an August 9th release date – but now Warner Bros. has updated their schedule, and in the process they decided to bump Trap up to August 2nd. We’re going to get to see this one a week earlier than expected!
Other release dates newly announced by Warner Bros. (via Deadline) are Untitled Nl/Atomic Monster/Blumhouse Event Film, scheduled for April 17, 2026 (that’s the Lee Cronin movie we heard about last night); Untitled WB Event Film,...

Evil Dead Rise director Lee Cronin is set to write and direct a new movie for Atomic Monster, Blumhouse, and New Line, marking the first collaboration between the merged companies and Warner Bros. Motion Picture Group.
The new Lee Cronin movie has already been given a release date of April 17, 2026, but unfortunately, that’s about all we know at this time as the plot is being kept under wraps. The film is naturally expected to be in the horror genre.
“I am super excited to be gathering up my gang of oddballs from Doppelgängers to join forces with the overlords of horror at Blumhouse and Atomic Monster,” Cronin said in a statement. “Collaborating with Jason, James and the wonderful teams from these two storied and massively successful organizations is what perfect nightmares are made of. Getting to return to New Line Cinema and my wonderful partners over there is the cherry on top.

Take your seats as the show is set to begin earlier than expected for M. Night Shyamalan’s Trap. Deadline reports that the anticipated thriller shifted release dates along with new mysterious projects from Warner Bros. on the way.
M. Night Shyamalan’s new thriller for Warner Bros. – the sixteenth movie in his Oscar-nominated career thus far – is now headed to movie theaters nationwide on August 2, 2024.
That’s a one week bump from its original August 9 release date.
In the upcoming thriller starring Josh Hartnett, “A father and teen daughter attend a pop concert, where they realize they’re at the center of a dark and sinister event.”
As the official trailer for Trap reveals, the pop concert is actually an elaborate trap designed to catch The Butcher, a sadistic serial killer who has been evading authorities.
Saleka Shyamalan stars in the upcoming thriller as fictional pop star Lady Raven.

Fresh off last year’s Evil Dead Rise, director Lee Cronin will next be directing an untitled horror movie for Blumhouse and James Wan’s Atomic Monster, THR reports tonight.
The Hollywood Reporter previews the project in their exclusive report, “Lee Cronin is rising with a new, mysterious project described as a modern take on something ancient.”
New Line Cinema will be releasing this one in theaters April 17, 2026.
“Collaborating with Jason, James and the wonderful teams from these two storied and massively successful organizations is what perfect nightmares are made of,” said Cronin. “Getting to return to New Line Cinema and my wonderful partners over there is the cherry on top.”
Jason Blum said, “[Cronin] has an intriguing, modern take on something quite ancient that I think audiences will love,” while James Wan called the Evil Dead Rise director “a gifted filmmaker in the world of horror whose storytelling has electrified audiences.

Atomic Monster and Blumhouse, the recently-combined genre giants, will produce a new film from “Evil Dead Rise” director Lee Cronin at New Line Cinema.
Cronin will write and direct the top secret project, one that has been suggested will remain in his horror wheelhouse. The Irish filmmaker will also produce the project through his label Doppelgängers.
New Line, a Warner Bros. Motion Picture Group label, has dated the film for an April 2026 release. It marks the studio’s first collaboration with Jason Blum and Atomic Monster head James Wan.
“Lee’s work is always fresh and surprising and he has an intriguing, modern take on something quite ancient that I think audiences will love,” Blum said in a statement. “This also marks an exciting series of firsts for us: Atomic Monster and Blumhouse’s first time working with Lee and our first joint project for Warner Bros. We can’t wait to get started.

Atomic Monster, the production company headed up by genre regular James Wan, is teaming with Amazon Studios to produce a psychological thriller series based on the best-selling novel 56 Days, by Catherine Ryan Howard (pick up a copy Here). Titled Obsession, this adaptation of Howard’s work got an official series order at the end of last year, and last month we learned that Dove Cameron of Schmigadoon! and Descendants and Avan Jogia, who dealt with zombies in both Zombieland: Double Tap and Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City, have been cast in the lead roles. Now they have their first pair of co-stars. Cameron and Jogia are being joined in the cast of Obsession by Karla Souza of How to Get Away with Murder and Dive, and Dorian Missick of The Burial and Shirley.

Oi there, listen up! Amazon Prime Video’s list of new releases for June 2024 includes another season of its biggest, bloodiest hit.
The Boys season 4 premieres its first three episodes on Thursday, June 13. Based on the trailers, The Boys is really leaning into the political side of its social satire with a presidential election underway and Homelander on trial for the small matter of killing a guy last season. The season will continue to air on Thursdays, culminating with the finale on July 18.
Amazon is really leaning into its sports offerings this month as well. Fans will get to watch the New York Yankees, the WNBA, and the Nwsl several times throughout June. That’s in addition to a couple of sports docs: Power of the Dream on June 18 and Federer: Twelve Final Days on June 20.
But if you’re looking for something even more explosive than Homelander and Roger Federer,...

Emmy-nominated actor Theo James isn't slowing down when it comes to taking on new projects, and we couldn't be more elated about this. His most recent project was starring in the Netflix action-comedy series The Gentlemen. Now, he's confirmed to be starring in an upcoming supernatural horror film called The Monkey. More details on this movie are below.
Why does the title of this movie sound familiar, you ask? Well, it's because it's based on the king of horror, aka Stephen King's 1980 horror short story of the same name. It's a film adaptation of this short story with Longlegs director Osgood Perkins signed on as director. He also penned the screenplay.
The story follows twin brothers Hal and Bill, who, after discovering their father's old monkey toy in the attic, begin to witness a series of brutal deaths unfolding around them. The brothers decide to get rid of the...

As far as individual authors go, Stephen King is certainly in the top of the list of authors whose works have been adapted. He is right there with Agatha Christie, Edgar Allan Poe, Arthur Conan Doyle, and other authors whose works have been adapted often and in many forms. But unlike the aforementioned authors, King’s adaptations are usually original, while the other authors have seen their works adapted and remade more than once. In light of that fact, we can confirm that King’s story, “The Monkey,” had been adapted into a film this spring and the movie was presented to buyers at Cannes this year!
Knowing how popular King’s adaptations are, it was a sure thing that someone would buy the movie, and as it happens, Neon managed to nab the distribution rights for the upcoming movie and they have confirmed that a 2025 release date is currently planned.

Three horror powerhouses are coming together for The Monkey, an adaptation of the Stephen King story that’s being produced by James Wan and directed by Osgood Perkins.

You can expect Neon to release The Monkey sometime in 2025.

Deadline’s Most Valuable Blockbuster tournament is back. While studios during Covid wildly embraced the theatrical day-and-date model when cinemas were closed, they soon realized there’s nothing more profitable than a theatrical release and the downstreams that come with it. If anything, theatrical is the advertisement for a movie’s longevity in subsequent home entertainment windows. Exclusive: Following her breakout role as Shin Hati in the hit Star Wars series Ahsoka, Ivanna Sakhno has found her next big role. Sources tell Deadline she has landed a major part in M3GAN 2.0, a sequel to the hit film from Atomic Monster and Blumhouse in association with Divide/Conquer.
She joins a cast that includes Allison Williams and Violet McGraw.
Plot details on M3GAN 2.0 are unknown, but the original film revolves around a life-like AI doll that is programmed to be a child’s greatest companion and a parent’s greatest ally. Designed by brilliant toy-company roboticist Gemma (Williams), M3GAN can listen, watch and learn as she becomes friend and teacher, playmate and protector, for the child she is bonded to. That film would go on to make $180 million worldwide on a $12 million budget, with a sequel quickly going into development.

“If you hear a fire alarm, take it seriously,” the woman at the podium announced. “Proceed calmly, but exit swiftly.
This was a step beyond the standard “put away your cell phones” introduction, but this was no ordinary movie––we were seated to watch an original nitrate print of George Sidney’s rousing 1950 musical Annie Get Your Gun. Thankfully, Netflix––in their three-year, gorgeous renovation of the Egyptian Theatre in Hollywood––retained its ability to screen nitrate, but if Inglourious Basterds taught us anything, it’s that you can trap and kill a hell of a lot of people with ultra-flammable nitrate stock if things go wrong.
It was the most danger I’ve ever been in while watching Howard Keel romance a woman under disreputable circumstances, and he did that often enough. The risk was plenty worthwhile to see the colors of this ostentatious, gaudy, not-a-little-bit-wacky musical really pop...
