Amazon MGM Studios has entered into a multi-year film partnership with Scott Stuber, the former head of film at Netflix. As part of the pact, the streamer and studio will finance and release movies from Stuber’s new production company under United Artists, a languishing label that once operated under the auspice of MGM. In its heyday, United Artists released movies like “The Pink Panther,” “Rocky” “One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest,” “Network” and the James Bond films. The agreement calls for Stuber and his soon-to-be launched company to produce several films annually. They will be released both theatrically and via Prime Video, Amazon’s streaming service.
Stuber’s new company will be based on Amazon MGM Studios’ Culver City lot. The pact is a first-look one, giving Amazon MGM Studios the initial crack at the projects Stuber develops. In addition, Stuber will be involved in all projects released by the new UA.

Sylvester Stallone was one of the major action heroes of the 80s and 90s alongside Arnold Schwarzenegger. The actor had to fight his way to get noticed in the industry as he was an outsider trying to make a name as an actor. Stallone created two of the most iconic franchises in Hollywood: Rocky and Rambo.

By the 80s, Stallone was already a two-time Oscar-nominated actor for his brilliant work in Rocky. He was eyeing another potential hit with 1982’s First Blood. However, the Rocky star was very unhappy with the original cut of the film so much so that he wanted to burn the negatives. However, his significant input changed everything for the better.

Katrina Kaif makes a guest appearance in this crazily evanescent comedy. But don’t get excited. She is just a poster on the wall, and a dial-a-direct-reference gimmick for Vicky Kaushal who is clearly the star attraction here. Again, don’t get excited, unless you relish the thought of Kaushal doing a Govinda on speed.
Directed by Anand Tiwari (who in the past has done the well-received series Bandish Bandits) the ‘romp’-com has those joyful Karan Johar vibes stamped in every frame. It is idyllic to the eye and serves as fast food, ingested off paper plates, digestible for those who are into sprightly storytelling about badly behaved people who have never been told the difference being demanding and annoying.
So we have Saloni Bagga making the best of her role as a chef who vents her frustrations on her husband Akhil Chaddha (Vicky Kaushal) when things don’t...

The fourth installment in the titular film series, Rocky 4, was such a massive success that it went on to gross the title of the highest-grossing sports film of all time for over two decades. With an incredible overall plotline that was the perfect mix of emotions and actions, Sylvester Stallone immaculately made his return as Balboa after the smash hit success that was Rocky 3.

But while all the elements were ideally incorporated into the 1985 masterpiece, some parts still confused fans. For instance, the talking robot that Stallone’s Balboa gifts to his brother-in-law Paulie on his birthday. However, as unreasonable as including that character may have seemed to fans, the real reason behind Stallone’s choice is actually pretty emotional.

Cap’n Crunch, full name Horatio Magellan Crunch, is an icon. But I think it’s safe to say that he’s known almost exclusively for his contributions to the cereal sphere. Whether that makes him a hero or villain is probably up to how intact the roof of your mouth was after a bowl of his eponymous crunch.
And yet, it turns out that Cap’n Crunch’s origins might have been a warm-up for one of the most lauded sitcoms of all time.
That would be The Mary Tyler Moore Show, a series co-created by a man named Allan Burns. It ran for seven seasons and won the positively gob-smacking total of 29 Emmys, accompanied by a litany of other high-profile praise, like holding the number one spot on Entertainment Weekly’s list of 100 Greatest TV Shows of All Time.

The gaming world is hyped up with The First Descendant. This free-to-play looter shooter title was released on July 2, 2024, on Steam, PlayStation 4 and 5, and Xbox Series X and S. Despite huge anticipation from the beginning, the game has stumbled many times since its launch.
The first reason for this game’s bad start is due to its hugely priced microtransactions, which are way more expensive than their counterparts. Now people complain that the game’s Ui and gameplay are of pretty low standard.

If you think of the greatest martial arts flicks, you first recall Bruce Lee or Jackie Chan’s classic movies, or maybe Uma Thurman’s Kill Bill (2003) and Michelle Yeoh’s Everything Everywhere All at Once (2022) that pay homage to Chinese traditions of combat.
However, there was a movie that elevated the genre to a completely different level, as it managed to balance fighting sequences and an exciting story. Back in the 80s, it obviously rekindled people’s interest in martial arts in mainstream cinematography and now it finally made its way right to Netflix.
The plot of this film revolves around Daniel, an Italian-American teenager who moves to L.A. and becomes the target of school bullies. In particular, he gets in a confrontation with the ex of his love interest, who studies karate at a local dojo.

There's an old saying in Hollywood: never work with children or animals. "A Quiet Place: Day One" star Lupita Nyong'o had her own, more specific rule: never work with cats. "I've been terrified of cats my entire life," the actress admitted in an interview on CBS Mornings. "Terrified. I wouldn't even be in a room with a cat." And even as a cat lover, I can't say that her reasons are entirely wrong: "I just found them suspicious. They're like little lions. If they were any bigger they would eat us."
This created a conflict when Nyong'o read the script for "Day One." The main character, Samira, is in New York City and carting around her pet cat, Frodo, when suddenly Earth is attacked by alien monsters. Frodo is very much one of the stars of the show, but Nyong'o begged director Michael Sarnoski to change Sam's pet to be any other animal.

Steven Spielberg revealed that he wanted to be surprised by the movies he watched and shared having the same anticipation before Rambo‘s release. While Sylvester Stallone’s 1982 film, First Blood, was every bit entertaining for the Jaws director, he was also frightened about the potential message of the action film. Spielberg categorized the film as a ‘this-is-the-way-it-should-have-been’ motion picture.

Interestingly, the author of the book, David Morrell, who created the character was critical of how the character in the movies deviated from his anti-war message in the books. First Blood became so successful that it spawned another four films in the Rambo franchise.

The ‘70s and ‘80s saw the rise of a new chapter of action movies in Hollywood. Aspiring faces such as Tom Cruise, Arnold Schwarzenegger, and Sylvester Stallone brought in a wealth of talent and pulled crowds to the screens with their franchises of Top Gun, The Terminator, and Rocky, respectively.
Among these, the latter star and his tale of the iconic Rocky Balboa came across as a grounded and rise-to-fame storyline that captured the popular imagination.

In September 2021, Olivia Colman bagged her first career Emmy for “The Crown” despite having failed on her Oscar bid for “The Father” five months earlier. This made her the 16th performer to triumph at the Emmys after going home empty-handed at the same year’s Oscars and the fourth to do so during the 21st century. The release of the 2024 Emmy nominations ballots confirmed that nine of the 16 actors who lost at the latest Oscars ceremony are capable of joining Colman on said list.
Gold Derby’s current Emmy odds indicate that the man and woman with the best hopes of following in Colman’s footsteps are Ryan Gosling and Jodie Foster, who just earned their respective third and fifth Academy Award notices for their supporting turns in “Barbie” and “Nyad.” They are now generally expected to share in the experience of being first-time acting Emmy nominees thanks to his...

Actor Carl Weathers is being remembered for his service to The Directors Guild Foundation (Dgf), with the organization renaming their premier annual fundraising event in his honor.
Going forward, the organization’s annual golf tournament will be known as the Directors Guild Foundation Carl Weathers Memorial Golf Tournament.
Weathers starred as Apollo Creed in the first four Rocky films and appeared in Predator, The Mandalorian, Happy Gilmore, Action Jackson, Arrested Development and dozens of other films and TV shows. He died in February at 76.
“Carl Weathers was the embodiment of dedication to the Directors Guild and the Foundation,” said Director and Dgf Chairman Todd Holland. “For over two decades, he devoted himself to serving the DGA, including as an officer of the Foundation since 2012. Rocky creator Sylvester Stallone has penned a memoir called Steps, and it’ll be with us next year. More here:
According to Deadline, Sylvester Stallone has just made a seven figure deal for the rights to Steps, a memoir that is described as “deeply personal” with a narrative shaped by teachable stories from Stallone’s life and career similar to the hybrid memoir/self-help scope of Matthew McConaughey’s 2020 bestseller Greenlights. The book’s title alludes to the iconic running scene outside the Philadelphia Museum of Art from Rocky.
Stallone has been especially introspective lately, with fly on the wall documentary The Family Stallone being a big hit for Paramount+, the streaming service which also hosts crime thriller Tulsa King, in which Stallone plays protagonist Dwight ‘The General’ Manfredi. Thom Zimmey directed the 2023 documentary Sly, which is available to watch on on Netflix.

Exclusive: After what was described to us as a “heated” auction, William Morrow has nabbed the rights to The Steps, a new memoir penned by veteran actor and three-time Oscar nominee Sylvester Stallone.
William Morrow – a HarperCollins imprint – will publish the memoir in the U.S. next year. The book was sold by UTA to Mauro DePreta at William Morrow. All parties declined to discuss financial terms, but sources told us negotiations concluded around a seven-figure sum.
The Steps was one of the hottest titles at this year’s buzzy, Hollywood-powered London Book Fair. Nonfiction heads from all of the publishing industry’s biggest houses chased the project based on the strength of a passage from a sample proposal written by Stallone. We understand that Stallone took less money to team up with DePreta and William Morrow because of their enthusiasm for the project.

The 1984 summer movie season kicked off in May and early June with a flurry of blockbusters. "Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom" opened to a gargantuan $25 million over Memorial Day weekend, and, unconcerned about getting chopped up in the mega-sequel's wake, Paramount scored a $17 million debut the following weekend with "Star Trek III: The Search for Spock." If you're thinking the studios might sit out a weekend while these films dominate the box office, Columbia and Warner Bros opted to throw a couple of haymakers over the June 8 three-day with, respectively, "Ghostbusters" and "Gremlins."
And then, on the fourth weekend of the summer movie season, Hollywood at last took a breather. With kids fresh out of school, the studios sat back and watched the aforementioned titles continue to flourish, while other pricey gambles (e.g. "Streets of Fire" and "Once Upon a Time in America") flopped.

I am not sure why, but it seems films about boxing have been coming in abundance from Japan during the last few years, with titles like “100 Yen Love” and “Blue” being the first that come to mind. It seems that the recipe of either “Million Dollar Baby” or “Rocky”, or both on occasion, still has an impact on the audience, and that is exactly the path “Last Bloom” follows.

Shogo is a struggling young boxer from a poor family, who has also experienced something similar. One night in a bar,...

Revolving around the storyline of a small-time boxer from Philadelphia, the Rocky franchise breasted a new set of fire into Sylvester Stallone and his repute in Hollywood. The ‘70s saw a meteoric rise in action content and the rise of legendary heroes of the likes of Arnold Schwarzenegger, Sean Connery, and Clint Eastwood. Differentiating himself from the rest, the Rocky Balboa star set on quite a different path for his career, one that would have the studio question their faith in him before betting big.

Additionally, the initial reluctance set forth by the production house could have derailed not only Stallone’s career as a revered action hero but also the mass appeal of the franchise.

Can the Rocky franchise ever be complete without ‘Mickey Loves You’? Well, actor Sylvester Stallone reportedly planned on wrapping up the sports drama franchise with Rocky III, wanting to finish up the character’s arc in a trilogy. After the worldwide success of the first film, Stallone hopped on the director’s chair for the sequels and planned a great ending.
Stallone was on the brink of giving up on his dreams when he wrote the screenplay for Rocky and sold it for a chance at starring in the sports drama. What was then a small-budget film became a worldwide phenomenon and the highest-grossing film of 1976. It spawned multiple sequels and a spinoff film centered on Adonis Creed, Apollo Creed’s son.

Sylvester Stallone is credited to have created some of the best action movies of all time. Apart from the Rocky franchise, the actor’s portrayal of the war veteran in the Rambo movies is celebrated for their intense action sequences and emotional depth. Offering a compelling exploration of the effects of wars on individuals, the series is now a cult classic.

Netflix has just added another sports movie to its catalog, and it can easily beat Road House by its wholesomeness. More than that, it tells the true story of rises and falls of one of the world’s legendary boxers, and it definitely adds to it being a must-watch.
It starts by showing a boxer during his championship debut against the back-then heavyweight champion, whom he beats and becomes a worldwide sports star. The subsequent events of his complicated life lead him to rethink the realities he lives in.
Sports lovers can already guess we’re talking about Muhammad Ali, also known as Cassius Clay Jr.
