Ty Burrell won’t be making a comeback to ABC after all. The network officially passed on the pilot for “Forgive & Forget,” a new comedy from Eugene Garcia-Cross and Robin Shorr in which the “Modern Family” actor was set to EP and star.
The news comes as ABC greenlit the Tim Allen-led comedy series “Shifting Gears” to series, meaning the two shows were likely competing for the same slot in the broadcast network’s lineup. “Shifting Gears” will also go through a showrunner change as Mike Scully and Julie Thacker Scully exited.
The axed multicamera series from 20th Television centered around perennial life of the party Hank (Burrell). “After an unexpected diagnosis, Hank reconnects with his responsible adult son Ben in hopes of making new memories together,” according to a logline provided by ABC when the network ordered the pilot in March.

Having played Leonard since the inception of the sitcom, when it came to bid goodbyes to the sitcom after 12 seasons, Johnny Galecki and the rest of the crew were understandably emotional. This further contributed to the conclusion of The Big Bang Theory, whose final episode fired on all cylinders when it came to its emotional moments.
But apart from the emotional bits in the story, the finale also involved one crucial scene, which Galecki knew was necessary to tie up all loose ends.

These days, it feels like George Clooney is known more for his political opinions than his acting career. Billions earned at the box office? Meh. Billions more raised in advocacy, humanitarian efforts, and charity? Yawn. Two-time People Magazine’s Sexiest Man Alive? Getting closer, but nah. Donald Trump calls you a “rat” on Truth Social? That’s when you know you’ve made it.
Believe it or not, George Clooney used to be famous for something other than his political flip-flops. Well, hold onto your hats because there was actually a time before Clooney’s latest head-scratcher: penning a New York Times op-ed calling Joe Biden unfit for office mere weeks after throwing him the mother of all fundraisers. Yes, you heard that right – he hosted a record-breaking cash bash for Biden, the biggest ever for a Democrat candidate, then declared to the world that the guy shouldn’t run.

After initially turning down Kaley Cuoco’s advances as the wounds from her past break-up were still fresh, Johnny Galecki took the first step to initiate a romantic bond between them. While the two only dated for two years and eventually parted ways in 2009, during their brief period of dating, they considered the idea of tying the knot.
Even though the duo still maintain a close bond as friends, and enjoyed their time together back in the late 2000s, it was primarily the differences between the two that contributed to their break-up.

At the peak of his career, Charlie Sheen, who was once one of the highest-paid television actors, was shown the door by Warner Bros. from Two and a Half Men in 2011. This was a result of the actor’s string of statements referencing drug usage and his criticisms against CBS and the sitcom producer Chuck Lorre.
But the impact of his shocking termination wasn’t only limited to the actor, as it sent shockwaves through Hollywood at the time, and The Big Bang Theory star Johnny Galecki also felt the heat of it.

The great Martin Mull passed away recently, leaving behind a prodigious comedic legacy that included Fernwood 2 Night, Clue and that one scene in Jingle All the Way — not to mention his oddball discography and acclaimed fine art career. Most remembrances of Mull, though, singled out his work in Roseanne, where he played Roseanne Conner’s boss/frenemy Leon.
Less well-known is Mull’s role in another Roseanne-produced project, 1992’s The Jackie Thomas Show, a short-lived sitcom starring Tom Arnold as the unhinged star of a fictional sitcom.
Mull played a network executive who once worked at NBC, where he tried to cancel Cheers before it became a hit. “A bunch of slobs sitting around a bar, who knew?” he asked in the pilot episode.
Created by Arnold and Roseanne, the series featured guest stars that included Roseanne herself, as a crazed fan, and Chris Farley, as Arnold’s younger brother.

Recent documentaries about Albert Brooks and Steve Martin give the comics their rightful flowers for introducing a fresh comic persona to popular culture — the smarmy show-biz performer, polished, unctuous and self-satisfied to the point of absurdity. But Martin Mull, the accomplished musician, painter and comedian who passed away yesterday at the age of 80, deserves to be mentioned in their company.
Fernwood 2 Night, a spin-off of Norman Lear’s Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman, is one of those comedies more influential than beloved — no cable network has been running repeats for years. But catch a few episodes (thanks, Internet Archive!) and you’ll hear its echoes in It’s Garry Shandling’s Show and the mockumentaries of Christopher Guest. Mull starred as Barth Gimble, the obnoxiously hip co-host of a local talk show set in the fictional town of Fernwood, Ohio alongside Fred Willard’s clueless Jerry Hubbard.

Although John Goodman is best remembered for his role as working-class father Dan Conner on TV’s “Roseanne” and “The Conners,” he’s also enjoyed a very successful big screen career as well, working with such directors as the Coen brothers, Steven Spielberg and Robert Zemeckis. Let’s look back at 20 of his greatest films, ranked worst to best.
Surprisingly (and criminally), not one of these roles brought Goodman an Oscar nomination. He did compete at the Golden Globes as Best Supporting Actor for “Barton Fink” (1991), but the academy went for his co-star Michael Lerner instead. Goodman also contended at the Globes four times as Best TV Comedy Actor for “Roseanne”, winning in 1993.
At the Emmys, Goodman earned seven consecutive Best Comedy Actor bids for “Roseanne” (1989-1995) and won for his guest performance on “Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip” (2007). He’s also contended for his TV-movie work: once as...

A poster for Roseanne Season 11 popped up online, and some wonder if it's real.
The story of The Conners, a working middle-class family from Lanford, Illinois, began in 1988 with the ABC premiere of Roseanne. What followed was an intimate look at a close-knit group of people who were, more often than not, just scraping by but handled things with hope and humor.
Roseanne was relaunched in 2018 for a tenth season but reworked after a year into The Conners after lead Roseanne Barr landed herself in hot water while posting on social media. Her character died offscreen, and the series continued.

In a major M&a move, Banijay UK has acquired independent scripted production company Caryn Mandabach Productions Limited (Cmp). Cmp, founded by prolific award-winning producer Caryn Mandabach, produces and owns the BAFTA-winning global hit drama series and brand, Peaky Blinders.
Under the agreement, Cmp’s slate of projects and back catalog transfers to Banijay UK. Moving forward, the group will manage all future series, spin-offs and brand ventures resulting from that IP including the recently announced Peaky Blinders movie, which has been greenlit by Netflix, as Deadline exclusively reported earlier this week. Mandabach remains attached to the film as a producer alongside Steven Knight, Cillian Murphy and Guy Heeley.
Mandabach, whose list of credits is extensive, will pivot to a first-look development and producer agreement with Banijay UK under her newly formed Conduit Productions umbrella.

But what if the conversation is more fun than any article we could write? We’re about to find out.
Carissa: I love this bit from David Cronenberg from an interview with The Hollywood Reporter out of Cannes:
THR: So if you’re not ready to put your filmmaking career to bed, what makes you get up each day with an inkling you may do another movie?
Cronenberg: What makes me wake up is the thought of breakfast, quite frankly. That’s enough to get me out of bed.
Tyler: Love him, love that.

ABC is switching up its schedule in a big way come fall 2024, and it’s bad news for some of our favorite series.
The Rookie, which has been bounced around the schedule in recent years, won’t return for Season 7 until 2025.
An exact timeline for the show’s return has not been determined, but it will have an 18-episode order, which is pretty good when considering the delayed start.
ABC plans to air those 18 episodes uninterrupted. Will Trent, which has been renewed for Season 3, is also getting the same treatment.
The biggest shocker on the fall schedule is the decision to bump Grey’s Anatomy to the 10/9c slot after spinoff Station 19 ends its run.
The news comes following a budget cut for the long-running medical drama, which will reduce the number of series regulars per episode.
