So when he needs comfort viewing, it’s time to turn to something outside the MCU. Speaking with Mashable, Feige revealed that his comfort viewing choices include Seinfeld, RoboCop, Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan, and the Friday the 13th franchise!
When asked for his go-to comfort watch choices, Feige answered, “During the pandemic, I started watching a lot of Thin Man movies from the ’30s and a lot of Frank Capra films from the ’30s. I sort of had a gap in my cinematic viewing of late ’20s to early ’40s,...

King’s marital life, however, was messy and he was married 8 times before he married Shawn Southwick in 1997. But their relationship also soured in 2019 and they filed for divorce that year. Considering the failed marriages he has had, King asserted in 2020 that he was not a ‘marrying guy’ and the big age gap between them led to the downfall of their marriage.

Right wing media and Donald Trump are struggling to figure out how to attack Vice President Kamala Harris, “The Daily Show” host Jon Stewart noted on Monday night’s episode. And perhaps that’s why they keep going back to their typical racist, sexist tropes.
Stewart, in his first episode since President Joe Biden ended his re-election campaign and Harris became the presumptive Democratic candidate played a series of clips where Republican candidate Donald Trump tried out new attacks — to mixed results.
“She doesn’t like Jewish people,” he said in one clip — to which Stewart noted, “Join the club, we’re getting crushed out there. Right now I’m not even sure how much we like ourselves. It’s not like the old ‘Seinfeld’ days when we riding high. You could get a bagel in Iowa. But of course that attack may ring hollow seeing as Kamala Harris’s...

Netflix is in the spotlight again, after delivering above-expected performance metrics thanks to cracking down on password sharing, introducing a new ad-supported tier, ramping up licensing deals and consistently delivering a high volume of on-demand content to its 270 million global subscribers.
Licensed content is figuring more significantly in Netflix’s strategy. Since November 2023, the number of licensed shows on Netflix has increased by around 6%, making up 35% of the platform’s TV catalog as of June 2024, according to Parrot Analytics’ Content Panorama.
Licensed content isn’t just growing in quantity — its importance to Netflix is also rising. Since last November, the demand share for licensed TV content has increased. At that time, Netflix originals accounted for 55% of the platform’s TV catalog demand, while licensed content made up the remaining 45%. By June 2024, the demand share for Netflix originals had dropped to 51%, with licensed shows climbing to 49%, resulting in an almost even...

This article contains some spoilers for "Deadpool & Wolverine."
Ever since 2000's "X-Men," the appearance of Marvel Comics guru Stan Lee in a cameo role became a prerequisite for every single Marvel movie made after. After playing a slew of characters with rich inner lives such as "Man in Fair," "Old Man at Crossing," "Waterhose Man" and, his greatest role, "Stan Lee," the filmmakers at Marvel Studios started to get a little more sneaky and clever with inserting Stan's visage into each movie.
Turns out that sneaking Lee into increasingly kooky and weird places was good practice, for when Lee passed away at the ripe old age of 95 in November of 2018, Marvel had to try and find a new way of honoring the tradition without resorting to ghoulishness. While a number of Lee cameos were shot before his passing, there were others that were planned for Lee that never allowed...

Netflix’s licensed catalog continues to punch above its weight in terms of demand, and being first to the marketplace has helped it immensely.
It’s Netflix’s world, and we’re all just living in it. Ok, that might be an oversimplification, but not by much. Netflix is the world’s largest streaming platform, and at this point, it isn’t particularly close. The service reported its second-quarter earnings earlier this month, and in that report, it revealed a subscriber total of nearly 278 million customers. A rich content library is key to Netflix’s success, and new data from Parrot Analytics shows how the method Netflix uses to blend originals and licensed titles has helped it slay the streaming competition for so many years.
Key Details: Netflix originals accounted for 25% of all streaming originals in the second quarter of 2024. Titles licensed from broadcast TV channels make up 1% of Netflix’s catalog,...

This article contains major spoilers for "Deadpool & Wolverine," so proceed with caution!
"Deadpool & Wolverine" isn't just the entry point for Wade Wilson into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and it's not just an excuse for Hugh Jackman to collect a paycheck for his return as the beloved mutant from the "X-Men" franchise. You might be surprised to see that the third entry in the "Deadpool" film series is also a love letter to the Marvel movies that came before it from 20th Century Fox.
Not only are there Marvel cameos by a myriad former superheroes, including Jennifer Garner as Elektra, Wesley Snipes as Blade, and Chris Evans as a foul-mouthed Johnny Storm from "Fantastic Four," but Channing Tatum finally gets to live out his dream of playing Gambit, with a look straight out of the X-Men comics of the '90s.

Bee Movie and Seinfeld actor Patrick Warburton firmly believes that both projects “succeeded” for the same reasons — and if you got a question, you ask the 8-ball.
Very soon after Jerry Seinfeld’s highly anticipated feature film screenwriting debut Bee Movie premiered on November 2, 2007, the buzz that surrounded the animated comedy thanks to its massive marketing campaign quickly died down, and the sting of its lukewarm reception began to set in for Universal Pictures. Critics and audiences alike expected a more clever and cohesive movie than what the tandem of the Seinfeld namesake and DreamWorks Animation created, and Bee Movie’s awkward, unfocused and unfunny plot failed to deliver a memorable experience beyond a couple of uncomfortable and unforgettable interspecies date scenes.

Given Seinfeld’s thriving second life on streaming and its popularity among a generation with no memories of the 1990s, it should come as no surprise that the slightly surreal world of history’s greatest sitcom is now completely foreign to new fans. I mean, how is Gen Z supposed to understand that Rudy Giuliani was once a respected public figure?
Unlike the show itself, so many of the references on Seinfeld have since aged out of the zeitgeist to the point that, for a young person watching the show in 2024, Seinfeld might as well take place in an alternate universe. Entire classic plot lines no longer make sense to someone raised in the internet era, such as Kramer’s Moviefone scheme, the Kenny Rogers Roasters sign story and the entire episode “The Merv Griffin Show.” And it’s easy for such youngsters to assume that Larry David and his...

Patton Oswalt is obviously one of the most beloved stand-ups and comedic actors working today. After all, not every performer has the power to shape multibillion dollar science-fiction franchises with random guest spots on network sitcoms.
But there was once a time when Oswalt was still a struggling young actor, forced to take less than glamorous gigs, such as his minor role in the forgettable 1996 Kelsey Grammer-led comedy Down Periscope.
But one of Oswalt’s very earliest roles happened to be in one of the most iconic TV shows of all time: Seinfeld. And he only secured the job thanks to his experiences working in the unrelenting hell that is customer service.
Oswalt appeared in the 1994 Seinfeld episode “The Couch,” a memorable episode to be sure, seeing as it dared to address the abortion debate in America via a pizza-based metaphor.
But Oswalt’s part had nothing to do with all that.

Netflix’s hit Spanish comedy series “Machos Alfa,” “Alpha Males” in English, got the green light for a fourth season in Spain and a fourth international adaptation in Germany, joining other in-production adaptations of the show in France, the Netherlands and Italy.
“Machos Alfa” is the story of four middle-aged friends experiencing midlife crises in parallel as they attempt to adapt to modern sensibilities regarding masculinity. It was created and is written by Alberto and Laura Caballero, Spanish sitcom royalty who both worked on the iconic series “Aquí no hay quien viva” and “La que se avecina.”
The series launched in December 2022 and quickly became one of Spain’s most popular comedy series, where it ranked in Netflix’s top 10 for 13 weeks. Season 2 launched in February of this year, and Season 3 recently wrapped production, although no release date has been announced yet.

John O’Hurley, known for Seinfeld and his television hosting gigs, is involved in a very different project as he helps explore the circumstances surrounding former President Richard Nixon’s resignation.
Writer-director George Bugatti’s documentary feature Watergate’s Secrets and Betrayals is set for release on Aug. 8, which marks the 50th anniversary of Nixon stepping down from office in 1974. Aiming to shed light on the Watergate investigation, the movie includes archival footage, new interviews and dramatized scenes. Central to the film is the research done by Geoff Shepard, who was the deputy counsel for the Watergate defense team and has more recently analyzed the records of the case’s special prosecutor.
O’Hurley appears in the film and serves as the project’s narrator. “Until now, the story of Watergate stood unchallenged, and yet a groundbreaking revelation is beginning to reshape the paradigm,” he says in the trailer that is exclusive to The Hollywood Reporter.

Most of us tend to think of Seinfeld as the “show about nothing,” but it wasn’t really about “nothing.” Sure, some episodes were set entirely within the confines of everyday spaces like parking garages and Chinese restaurants, but others found the gang battling psychotic clowns and befriending Major League Baseball players.
As Seinfeld has previously stated, the actual pitch he and Larry David took to NBC wasn’t for a “show about nothing” but rather, for a show about “how a comedian gets his material.” The “nothing” idea was just something George came up with in the show’s fictional pitch session. He even suggested that some episodes would feature characters reading.
But even that initial pitch seems wildly off-base from where the show ended up. At first, Seinfeld episodes were always bookended by stand-up routines in which Jerry would muse about topics related to the show. This likely...

Despite the fact that Jerry’s bookcase was stocked with Nintendo cartridges (as well as bootleg pornography), the Seinfeld gang rarely seemed very interested in video games. But that all changed in the ninth and final season of the show.
“The Frogger” found George going to extreme lengths to preserve his high score on an old Frogger arcade cabinet, eventually playing a wildly dangerous real-life version of the game as he tries to move the machine across the street.
According to director Andy Ackerman, recreating the game on the Seinfeld set proved to be a big “challenge,” requiring 30 stunt drivers, and forcing Jason Alexander to dive out of the way of a speeding truck. “It was almost an all-day event to put together a one-minute sequence,” Ackerman admitted.

Legendary actress Shelley Duvall has sadly passed away at the age of 75. Movie fans know her best for her stellar work as Wendy Torrance in The Shining, and for playing Olive Oyl in the big-screen version of Popeye — although her work in the Harland Williams vehicle RocketMan has yet to be fully-appreciated.
Anyone who grew up in the ‘80s or ‘90s likely also remembers Duvall as the host and creator of Faerie Tale Theatre, one of the most bizarre, charming and idiosyncratic children’s shows in the history of TV. Each episode presented an hour-long, live-action adaptation of a familiar (or occasionally not-so-familiar) fairy tale, featuring a double-take-inducing cast of Hollywood legends and upstart comic stars.

One of the most memorable SNL “Digital Shorts” found Andy Samberg and Justin Timberlake singing about celebrating Christmas — not to mention Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, and “every single holiday” — by gifting women their junk wrapped up in festive parcels.

The song proved so successful that Samberg and Timberlake revived the characters for the latter’s concert at Madison Square Garden in 2007, performing “Dick in a Box” for a sold-out crowd that included future President Donald Trump and Diddy. In retrospect, it’s pretty wild that the characters crooning about surprising people with their genitals were less creepy than some audience members.
So where did the idea for “Dick in a Box” come from? In a recent episode of The Lonely Island and Seth Meyers Podcast,...

It’s the new Summer of George, and, as was the case during the last one, the New York Yankees aren’t giving George a cent.
To be fair to George Steinbrenner and the rest of the Yankees staff in the mid-1990s, very little of what George Costanza accomplished during his time working for the team on Seinfeld really deserved compensation or consideration. Most of George’s plans for The Pinstripes backfired spectacularly — as was the case with the dreaded cotton uniforms — and, as the Assistant to the Traveling Secretary, he seemed to actually assist his boss, Mr. Wilhelm, much less often than he created new problems for the Traveling Secretary and the rest of the storied franchise.
However, unlike his most famous character, Jason Alexander put in some seriously stellar work during his time on Seinfeld and is accustomed to securing handsome compensation for the effort. So, when...

The episode of "The Simpsons" called "Homer's Enemy" is one of the most memorable — and darkest — episodes of the series. It features a new character named Frank Grimes (Hank Azaria), recently hired at the Springfield Nuclear Power Plant. Grimes is stern, serious, intelligent, and worked his way into a well-paying nuclear power gig after struggling out of childhood poverty. He has an unshakeable work ethic, and a deep concern for safety. Naturally, when he meets a feckless, incompetent boob like Homer Simpson (Dan Castellaneta), Grimes instantly becomes incensed. How can this fool, Grimes felt, have a successful job and a loving family, even when he is obviously incompetent to a life-threatening degree?
Homer's incompetence even gets Grimes in trouble. When Homer almost drinks a glass of sulfuric acid, Grimes slaps it out of his hand, accidentally dissolving part of a nearby wall. Grimes receives a pay cut for destroying the wall.

When you watch a sitcom, you hardly ever expect it to be deep and meaningful. You just watch it to have a few laughs with the one-dimensional characters, who every now and then surprise you by not being a caricature of human nature, but actually being relatable.
The most popular sitcoms are Friends, Seinfeld, Parks and Recs, and we really love them all. But there’s a rather new sitcom that you most certainly missed on AppleTV+, and we couldn't recommend it to you more.
The series we are talking about is Mythic Quest, which premiered on the platform in 2020 and has 3 seasons for now, with season 4 being currently in production. The show centers on a fictional video game studio company which produces a hit game called Mythic Quest.
The main characters of the series are the company's creative director and the game's developer Ian Grimm and his troubled staff.

One of Seinfeld’s very best episodes found the gang ditching New York City and venturing upstate for a weekend at Susan’s father’s cabin. Along the way, they stop over at a nondescript small town to visit a “Bubble Boy” on his birthday — although he turns out to be a vulgar young man (voiced by adult comedian Jon Hayman) who lives behind a plastic divider due to an unspecified medical condition.
The Bubble Boy has to be rushed to the hospital after getting into a physical fight with George over a game of Trivial Pursuit. In response to the history question “Who invaded Spain in the 8th century?,” the Bubble Boy confidently answered “The Moors.” But George claimed that he was wrong, citing the answer on the card, which clearly read “The Moops.”

Michael Richards’ portrayal of Kramer in Seinfeld created one of the most iconic characters in the American sitcom space, right up there with Chandler Bing, Marshall Eriksen, and Captain Raymond Holt. Jerry Seinfeld went on the record to say that no one could have played the character better, except maybe one other actor.
Michael Richards as Cosmos Kramer in Seinfeld || Columbia Pictures
Seinfeld, like old great American sitcoms, created a main cast of memorable characters, and among them, was the the charismatic and sometimes dimwitted Kramer, who benefitted from Michael Richards’ great performance, along with the wit and charm that the actor brought to the character. It is nigh impossible to imagine another actor playing Kramer, but Jerry Seinfeld revealed on The Howard Stern Show who could have done it if not Richards.

Ah, Seinfeld, the NBC show about nothing that became something! Well, there was one episode that nearly had co-creator Larry David biting his nails, worried that his comedic counterpart, Jerry Seinfeld, might not give it the thumbs up. We are talking about the legendary banter that became a cultural touchstone—the eleventh episode of the fourth season, The Contest.
Jerry Seinfeld in Seinfeld | NBC
Praised as a juggling act of wit & daring subject matter, this fan-favorite and critically acclaimed episode stood out and had viewers rolling with laughter. Surprisingly, the concept of this episode, which aired in 1992, was a hot potato, as David kept it under wraps for several seasons before daring to pitch Seinfeld.

Over the weekend, my phone blew up with texts from TV comedy writers who were in the middle of watching the latest season of The Bear. Some were enjoying the new episodes, others were frustrated by them, but not one person said this story of toxic workplaces, addiction and mental illness, and ruinous personal relationships was a barrel of laughs — this despite the fact that FX, Hulu, and Emmy voters everywhere continue to consider it a comedy. As one writer put it, “I like the show a lot, but it...

Jerry Lewis wasn’t exactly the easiest person to please, as evidenced by *gestures to the countless stories of him being a raging infantile d-bag for no reason*. So remaking one of Lewis’ classic movies while he was still alive must have been a little like kicking a nest full of petty, misogynistic hornets.
The Nutty Professor was one of Lewis’ most famous comedies, telling the story of an incel scientist who concocts a serum that turns him into a handsome psychopath. Judging from the original trailer, this basic premise was considered a big twist back in 1963. Lewis even urged audiences to “not reveal the middle of this picture.”
The 1996 Eddie Murphy-starring version of The Nutty Professor originated with producer Brian Grazer. As Grazer recently told a classroom full of children during the “Story Corner” segment of John Mulaney’s Everybody’s in L.A., in order to land the rights to the film,...

When a sitcom runs for a long time, there are inevitably times when a throwaway line from an early episode doesn’t necessarily align with the details unveiled in later seasons. In Seinfeld, for example, Jerry and George both make reference to siblings who are ultimately erased from the show’s continuity. Generally, these kinds of mistakes are forgivable — unless, apparently, you’re a writer for It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.
Like so many other shows, It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia has introduced a number of plot points that future developments contradicted or just flat-out ignored. But over the course of the series’ 17-year run, Rob McElhenney, Glenn Howerton and Charlie Day have gone out of their way to correct them, even going so far as to dedicate entire episodes and story arcs to setting the record straight.

Carrie Courogan titled her new book about Elaine May, the legendary writer, director, and comic, “Miss May Does Not Exist.” But for some, it might feel like May’s feature films don’t necessarily either – particularly “The Heartbreak Kid.” The 1972 comedy – a box office hit upon its release and future Oscar nominee – is out of print on physical media, never cycles through the surfeit of available streaming platforms, and rarely screens at repertory theaters. So it was little surprise to find an enthusiastic crowd inside New York’s Metrograph theater on Wednesday night for a 35mm members-only showing of “The Heartbreak Kid” pegged to the recent release of Courogan’s book. (The print was loaned out by the Academy Film Archive.)

Elaine Benes had a number of truly odd boyfriends throughout the course of Seinfeld — I mean, one of them was literally a psychotic clown with a history of violence — but one of the most memorably eccentric of the bunch was Aaron, the “close talker” played by Judge Reinhold.
While the term “close talker” has subsequently become part of our cultural lexicon, filming this particular scene really weirded out one of the Seinfeld cast members.
During a recent appearance on The Rich Eisen Show, Reinhold discussed his experience shooting the close-talker scenes. Apparently, during rehearsals, he would get incrementally closer to each person he talked to, before finally ending with Jerry Seinfeld. “The crew was laughing in a way that … it seemed like something was going on,” Reinhold explained.
When the lunch break came, he asked some of the crew members: “Why were you guys laughing so hard when I get to Jerry?...

Friends. South Park. Frasier. Family Guy. Some of TV’s longest-running sitcoms premiered in the 1990s, and remain relevant and beloved if not still producing new episodes today. But a decade is a long time, executives try a lot of ideas to fill their schedules, and since broadcast TV programming is kind of a zero-sum game, far more sitcoms premiered than ever found an audience. The question is: which ones deserved better?
A word on methodology here: I took the term “forgotten” very literally. That means I didn’t consider any ‘90s sitcom that’s streaming on a legitimate pay or subscription platform; any ‘90s sitcom that lasted more than one season; and any of which only the pilot is available to watch — illegitimately, since pilots have to jam in so much exposition that judging a show’s quality by that episode alone doesn’t offer an accurate picture of where it aspires to go.

Baffling allusions to the January 6th riots aside, Jerry Seinfeld’s comedy these days is about as edgy as a Nerf body pillow. But back in the ‘90s, Seinfeld wasn’t without its button-pushing moments. In addition to the masturbation contest and the abortion debate/couch-defiling episode, Seinfeld risked stirring controversy with “The Raincoats,” in which Jerry is caught making out with his girlfriend during a screening of Schindler’s List.
Even Jerry Stiller, who, of course, played Frank Costanza, was worried that this storyline went too far. “I almost wanted to say to everybody, ‘You can’t have them necking in the balcony while they’re watching Schindler’s List,’” Stiller once admitted. “I just felt they had gone over the line with that one.”
As you may recall, the same episode guest-starred Judge Reinhold as Elaine’s “close-talker” boyfriend Aaron, who becomes disconcertingly attached to Jerry’s parents Morty and Helen.

It seems as though a lot of Seinfeld fans tend to confuse the show with reality, likely because several of the characters were based on real people and one of them runs a literal “reality” bus tour. But at least when fans approach Jerry Seinfeld or Larry David to express their admiration for the show, they don’t interrupt their private bathroom time.
Unfortunately, that’s not the case for Julia Louis-Dreyfus, all thanks to one episode.
Season Five’s “The Stall” found Kramer prank calling phone sex lines, and George developing a crush on Elaine’s “Mimbo” boyfriend Tony. But it opened with Elaine in a movie theater bathroom, where she discovers that there’s no toilet paper in her stall. Naturally, she asks the woman in the next stall over if she can spare some, but she claims she can’t — not even a square.

Julia Louis-Dreyfus, the Marvel Cinematic Universe's Valentina Allegra de Fontaine, has confirmed that Thunderbolts* "just wrapped last week."
While reshoots are undoubtedly on the horizon, this is welcome news considering it wasn't too long ago when members of the cast openly admitted they had no idea when production would begin. Of course, last year's strikes played a role in that, and Marvel Studios now has just shy of a year to get Thunderbolts* where they want it.
Similar to other recent interviews, Louis-Dreyfus refused to give any plot details away or reveal what the deal is with that asterisk.
The actress did say she, "Loved [the production]," adding: "I got to work with really cool people, who we already know are in the film. Florence Pugh, David Harbour, Lewis Pullman, Sebastian Stan, Wyatt Russell. It was pretty dreamy."
Elsewhere in her conversation with Josh Horowitz, Louis-Dreyfus looked back at being enlisted for this MCU role.

There was a time when most stand-up comedians post Seinfeld and Everybody Loves Raymond dreamt of their own sitcom based on their material.
However, when Chicago stand-up Sebastian Maniscalco arrived in LA in the late 90s, it wasn’t really his m.o.
