Chicago Fire fans will see a new face at Firehouse 51 in the fall.
Battalion Chief Wallace Boden said his goodbyes during the Season 12 finale, opening the door for some fresh stories.
Boden felt he needed to take a higher position in the Chicago Fire Department to help the city, and that’s exactly what he did.
Actor Eamonn Walker takes a step back from being a series regular to play a character who appears sporadically.
Boden’s character treatment on Chicago Fire is similar to Matthew Casey (played by Jesse Spencer), who is off doing his own thing, but stories can intertwine later.
Chicago Fire fans will miss seeing Boden at Firehouse 51 every week, and change is hard. But that’s what happens on shows that last this long on television.

We all have that friend — or we are that friend — who’s always being treated like a doormat. For Tony Hale, who’s famous for playing lovably codependent characters in comedies like Veep and Arrested Development, his role in The Decameronis an opportunity to take that neediness to new heights (and lows).
“The word for me was desperation,” Hale tells Tudum, summing up the best description for his character Sirisco. When The Decameron opens in 1348, the pestilence has hit Italy hard, and a group of wealthy nobles and their servants run off to a rural getaway for an escape … and to party. Catering to the guests’ every whim, while hiding that his master actually died of the bubonic plague before their arrival, is Hale’s Sirisco.

The actor best known for “Veep” and “Arrested Development” is a household name for comedy fans, even if he enjoys a degree of anonymity in his day-to-day.
“People are just really nice,” he told IndieWire, along with an anecdote of the previous night when a restaurant hostess shared her appreciation of his work. “But then — my wife is from Alabama — I go to Alabama and no one’s watching or has watched ‘Veep’ or ‘Arrested.’ So it’s not that kind of really high fame.”
It’s the kind of fame that prompts people to shout “Buster!” at him in the street, or character-specific things like “You’ve got two hands” — the kind of fame that comes from being on two heavily-memed shows, at least one of which was all over social media...

The always booked and busy Dermot Mulroney (“My Best Friend’s Wedding”) has joined the cast of NBC’s “Chicago Fire,” the network announced on Thursday. Mulroney will portray Chief Dom Pascal during the upcoming 13th season of the popular drama series.
Although storyline details were not released at press time, Deadline reports through sources that the character is described as an active member of the Chicago Fire Department who previously spent the last decade as a fire chief in Miami, Florida. Now, as the new leader of 51 following the exit of Battalion Chief Wallace Boden (Eamonn Walker), the generally cheerful Pascal, who works well under pressure and whose leadership style differs from Boden’s, finds himself not only dealing with a new job but the realities of being estranged from his wife.

Dermot Mulroney has joined “Chicago Fire” Season 13 as the station’s newest fire chief.
Mulroney, who recently starred in Sydney Sweeney and Glen Powell’s “Anyone but You,” will play Chief Dom Pascal in the NBC procedural’s upcoming season. He takes the baton after Eamonn Walker, who played Battalion Chief Wallace Boden since the show’s start, exited as a series regular after 12 seasons.
The decision for Walker’s exit, which was announced in May, came from the actor, an individual with knowledge told TheWrap. Walker’s character won’t be killed off, and is expected to make appearances in upcoming episodes of “Chicago Fire.” The character had been on a leave of absence for part of Season 12, and returned for the Season 12 finale.
In addition to starring in “Chicago Fire,” Walker’s Battalion Chief also appeared on spin-off series “Chicago Med” and “Chicago P.D.”

Dermot Mulroney has been cast in NBC’s Chicago Fire as Chief Dom Pascal for the upcoming thirteenth season.
As Deadline revealed exclusively in June, the hit Wolf Entertainment firefighter drama was adding a new series regular character to lead 51 following the exit of Eamonn Walker — who had played Battalion Chief Wallace Boden for 12 seasons — as a series regular at the end of Season 12.
No official details about Mulroney’s characters have been revealed. According to sources, Dom Pascal began his career with the Cfd but spent the last decade as a chief in Sunny Miami. Described as a cheerful person who works well under pressure, and whose leadership style differs from Boden’s, Pascal is estranged from his wife.
Before Boden was promoted to Deputy Commissioner of the Chicago Fire Department, he had chosen Christopher Herrmann (David Eigenberg) as his successor.

Have you ever wondered what “Love Island” would be like if it were set in the 1300s? Netflix’s new dark-comedy series “The Decameron” will answer all of your questions.
The series, created by Kathleen Jordan and executive produced by “Orange Is the New Black” and “Weeds” alum Jenji Kohan, is loosely based on Italian Author Giovanni Boccacio’s short story collection from the mid-14th century. The plot begins after “The Black Death strikes hard in the Italian countryside in 1348, and a handful of nobles retreat to a grand villa with their servants. But what starts as a wine-soaked sex romp descends into a race for survival in this soapy dark comedy,” according to the official description.
Keep reading to find out what stars are traveling back in time to the 1340s in our complete “The Decameron” cast and character guide. The show is now streaming on Netflix.

After the dark comedy Come to Daddy, New Zealand director Ant Timpson travels back to his home country with lead actor Elijah Wood for Bookworm, an adventure designed for all ages. In his introduction at the opening of Montreal’s Fantasia Film Festival, Timpson cited 1970s family movies as an inspiration and admitted he wanted nothing more than to make a good, entertaining time for audiences. That aim is apparent in every moment of Bookworm, whose odd-couple pairing of an estranged father and his precocious daughter on a camping trip gone wrong feels engineered to be a broad crowd-pleaser. But Timpson, along with co-writer Toby Harvard, prefer to take the easy way for achieving their goals, the film leaning into dated comedy and a relentless charm offensive that makes its efforts too strained to fully embrace.

Created by Kathleen Jordan, and executive produced by Jenji Kohan, this absurdist Netflix comedy series is very loosely inspired by the 14-century story collection titled The Decameron.
The Decameron examines the all-too-timely theme of class struggles in the season of a pandemic. In the year 1348, the Black Death strikes hard in the city of Florence, and a handful of nobles retreat with their servants to a grand villa to wait out the plague with a lavish holiday. But as social rules wear thin, a scramble for survival ensues, brought to life by a cast of characters both cunning and outrageous.
HeyUGuys spoke to creator Kathleen Jordan and cast members Tony Hale, Tanya Reynolds (Sex Education), Zosia Mamet (Girls), Jessica Plummer, and Saoirse-Monica Jackson about their experience working on such an innovative comedy.
The 8-episode series hits the streamer on July 25th.

“Joe and Anthony Russo will return.”
The Hollywood Reporter reports that Marvel is now in talks to bring Joe and Anthony Russo back as directors of Avengers 5 and 6. The Russos helmed some of the franchise’s biggest hits, including Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame. The Hollywood Reporter notes that the discussions are still in early phases, but they seem to be on their way.
Given the success of those films, and the difficulty that MCU head Kevin Fiege has had finding someone to helm the next Avengers movies, having gone through Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings‘s Destin Daniel Cretton and Shawn Levy of Deadpool & Wolverine, the Russos’ return seems like a no brainer. After all, they’re a very safe pair of hands when it comes to these sorts of massive, franchise-defining blockbusters. However, there is also risk here. Feige might do well to...

In the last couple decades, it's been as safe to assume that big-budget blockbusters arrive almost every week as it is to assume that many of the people directing those films aren't very big names. The days of directors like Steven Spielberg or Tony Scott or Michael Bay regularly directing blockbusters have mostly gone by the wayside. More often than not, studios have passed their big-deal intellectual property titles to filmmakers who aren't household names, perhaps hoping that they'll hew to the company line instead of injecting their own personal flair into the proceedings.
This week marks the arrival of one such film, the Universal Pictures/Warner Bros. Pictures film "Twisters," which serves as a long-awaited sequel (kind of) to the 1996 blockbuster "Twister." It also serves as the first film for director Lee Isaac Chung since his Oscar-winning 2020 indie family drama "Minari." Chung's past feature work doesn't suggest he'd...

It’s no secret that the Netflix-era of Arrested Development isn’t quite as well-regarded as the first three seasons. The climactic scene of the final episode literally finds the Bluth family stumbling upon Lucille II’s grinning corpse, immediately followed by Buster’s murder confession. In retrospect, it’s kind of surprising that Ad viewers didn’t freak out and demand a do-over season, à la Game of Thrones fans.

Joe and Anthony Russo are assembling a team — once again.
The Russo Bros. are in early talks to return to Marvel Studios to direct not just one, but the next two Avengers movies, sources tell The Hollywood Reporter.
The hiring ends a months-long, high-stakes search by the studio for filmmakers to oversee the fifth and sixth Avengers movies. Multiple names were in contention, including Deadpool & Wolverine director Shawn Levy, who was offered the gig. Sources say the talks are in the early stages.
The move also marks a homecoming for the Russos, who jumped from the world of TV comedy on shows like Arrested Development and Community to blockbuster movies a decade ago, with Captain America: The Winter Soldier (2014). In total, they directed four of Marvel’s biggest and best regarded movies, going on to helm Captain America: Civil War (2016), Avengers: Infinity War (2018) and Avengers: Endgame (2019). Few sitcom characters have become more firmly entrenched in pop culture than Steve Carell’s Michael Scott on the American version of “The Office.” But modern television history could have been altered forever had the casting process broken slightly differently. After the likes of Phillip Seymour Hoffman and Paul Giamatti turned down the role, producers also considered casting Bob Odenkirk as Michael Scott. But the “Better Call Saul” star, who later went on to appear in an episode of the show, is at peace with how it all played out.
In a recent appearance on the “Office Ladies” podcast, hosted by “The Office” stars Jenna Fischer and Angela Kinsey (via The Hollywood Reporter), Odenkirk reflected on losing the iconic role. Rather than be bitter, he explained why Carell was a better fit than him to play the famously bumbling boss.

The X-Files Season 11 was a terrible misfire from Fox. The network has had trouble in creating a decent TV show of late. Fox is notoriously known for their cancelation of fan-favorite shows and instead greenlighting average to bad shows. As the network looks to rebuild its legacy, one show’s revival could be the saving grace for Fox in the television industry.

Kiefer Sutherland’s 24 ran for 9 seasons on the network followed by a short-lived spin-off series, 24: Legacy. Sutherland earlier shared the possibility of bringing back counter-terrorist federal agent Jack Bauer in a revival of the show. Fox could currently benefit from bringing back a critically acclaimed show like 24.

Next time someone from the Federal Bureau of Investigation wants Henry Winkler to shake their hand, they should sit on it instead.
For all the Winkler fans who know him best as the nebbish-y character actor on critically acclaimed shows like Arrested Development and Barry, it may be hard to believe that Gene Cousineau was once the coolest cat in sitcoms. Winkler’s performance as the slick, motorcycle-riding, leather-jacket-wearing Arthur “Fonzi” Fonzarelli on the ABC sitcom Happy Days was, and still is, one of the most iconic roles in all of TV comedy as Winkler encapsulated everything cool to mid-1970s America. And at a time when J. Edgar Hoover’s body was barely cold and his soul burningly warm, the G-men of the FBI didn’t have quite the affection and admiration of America’s youth that a pre-shark-jump Fonzi enjoyed.
As such, when a handful of die-hard Happy Days...

One of the funniest storylines in all three seasons of Arrested Development was when Tobias Fünke attempted to join the Blue Man Group, after encountering the mute performance artists while searching for a “support group for depressed men.” And really, is there any funnier line in the entire show than “I’m afraid I just blue myself”?

The man behind (or inside of) Tobias, David Cross, once revealed that donning the blue makeup for these scenes was “a huge pain in the ass” — although this revelation was slightly overshadowed by his story about doing cocaine at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner, which came up in the same interview. “It took a long time to get completely made up, and then you couldn’t touch anything,” Cross told Playboy. “The paint is fairly greasy, and if you touched anything at all, even just a finger to your nose, it’d...

Crafting the perfect TV family can be tricky. Most thrive off dysfunction — everything from “Arrested Development” to its genre-bent counterpart “Succession” — while many focus instead on found family among friends, coworkers, or community. At least one on-air drama is about the perils of inbreeding and bad communication between loved ones, so we wouldn’t exactly call it a family show.
In classic sitcoms starting with “Leave it to Beaver,” there was the idea of the model family (passed down so overtly as to inspire a “Boy Meets World” episode literally called “Model Family” that explicitly sites the Cleavers). From “Family Ties” to “Full House” to “Sister Sister,” the nuclear family was the beating heart of a TV show, with a kind of wholesome chemistry and dynamic that sometimes feels lost now.
But like every TV genre, the family comedy is alive, thriving, and evolving — perhaps nowhere as brilliantly as Apple’s “Trying,...

Recent documentaries about Albert Brooks and Steve Martin give the comics their rightful flowers for introducing a fresh comic persona to popular culture — the smarmy show-biz performer, polished, unctuous and self-satisfied to the point of absurdity. But Martin Mull, the accomplished musician, painter and comedian who passed away yesterday at the age of 80, deserves to be mentioned in their company.
Fernwood 2 Night, a spin-off of Norman Lear’s Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman, is one of those comedies more influential than beloved — no cable network has been running repeats for years. But catch a few episodes (thanks, Internet Archive!) and you’ll hear its echoes in It’s Garry Shandling’s Show and the mockumentaries of Christopher Guest. Mull starred as Barth Gimble, the obnoxiously hip co-host of a local talk show set in the fictional town of Fernwood, Ohio alongside Fred Willard’s clueless Jerry Hubbard.

Actor Carl Weathers is being remembered for his service to The Directors Guild Foundation (Dgf), with the organization renaming their premier annual fundraising event in his honor.
Going forward, the organization’s annual golf tournament will be known as the Directors Guild Foundation Carl Weathers Memorial Golf Tournament.
Weathers starred as Apollo Creed in the first four Rocky films and appeared in Predator, The Mandalorian, Happy Gilmore, Action Jackson, Arrested Development and dozens of other films and TV shows. He died in February at 76.
“Carl Weathers was the embodiment of dedication to the Directors Guild and the Foundation,” said Director and Dgf Chairman Todd Holland. “For over two decades, he devoted himself to serving the DGA, including as an officer of the Foundation since 2012. Relishing the opportunity to give back, connect with peers, and enjoy quality time with friends and colleagues on the green, Carl Weathers eagerly anticipated the Directors...
