Blizzard Entertainment is reportedly working on a new Aaa first-person shooter (Fps) with role-playing game (RPG) elements. The studio has been an icon in the industry and made blockbuster franchises such as Diablo, World of Warcraft, and Overwatch.
According to various online sources, the project was hinted at by an executive, who briefly listed the unannounced title on his LinkedIn profile. The studio has historically been known to innovate. And while its recent titles have had hiccups, this project could signal an exciting new chapter for the company.

Acquired in October 2023 by Microsoft after a long legal battle that lasted over a year, Blizzard has an incredible history when it comes to building game franchises and series that leave a mark in the industry.
While it’s possibly best known for the Diablo series, which debuted back in 1997 and had its most recent release in 2023 with Diablo 4, the studio has brought us some popular strategy series like Warcraft and Fps shooters like Overwatch. However, it seems like the studio is preparing for the next chapter in its journey, as it appears to be working on a brand-new IP!
Blizzard Posting Hints Brand-New RPG First Person Shooter Game
Even though Blizzard has given us some memorable franchises, the last couple of years haven’t proven to be the best for the studio. At the start of the year, the company laid off around 1,900 employees and canceled the development of several games.

Greetings travelers! Word has spread far of a distant land and the mysteries it holds within. I speak, of course, of Khaz Algar, the subterranean realm unveiled in Blizzard’s latest World of Warcraft epic, The War Within. As the first chapter in an ambitious new saga, this expansion casts players deep below the surface in search of answers to long-held secrets.
Launched in late 2023 after years of anticipation, The War Within transported avid adventurers from the ethereal dragon isles of the prior outing down into the earth’s depths. There, Blizzard’s development veterans crafted a sprawling underworld dotted with haunting ruins and enchanting vistas at every turn. Early reactions made clear players felt right at home exploring these subterranean passages, battling both familiar foes and strange new threats alike.

It has been a rough few years at the box office, to put it as mildly as one can. The pandemic completely upended the movie business as we know it, with theaters around the world shutting down entirely for months on end. Even after they reopened, the recovery has been much slower than expected. It certainly didn't help that last year's SAG and WGA strikes hugely impacted this year's output from Hollywood as well. It's been one thing after another. Amidst all of this, American studios have had to contend with one big, financially consequential truth: China can no longer be depended on to help goose ticket sales for blockbuster films.
For over a decade before the pandemic hit in 2020, Hollywood studios had been catering to Chinese audiences, even going so far as to self-censor films to help ensure that they could play in the country. At times, that paid off handsomely.

What are video games but a miserable pile of secrets? It’s always expected for developers to throw some extra unlockables in their games, whether they are extra lives, unlimited ammo, stage select, extra characters, or whatever. A lot of times these come out within a couple of months or even days. Magazine sections were dedicated to these babies and there was a whole genre of unofficial guides for this type of thing back in the day.
Still, some developers have hidden their secrets so well that it takes forever for people to discover them. That’s what this list is about. The one ground rule here is that I’m going to try and discuss secrets that are genuinely entertaining to the player. None of this stuff where you can find a hidden picture of a developer’s nephew’s birthday party. Believe me, there are so many of those out there.

When Blizzard announced The War Within expansion for the iconic Mmorpg World of Warcraft, fans were blindsided by a bombshell that wasn’t related to all the new content they’d be experiencing.
The company revealed it would be offering early access to the Dlc for an additional $40, on top of the regular cost. It’s been months since that announcement, but the shock remains. As the expansion’s release date approaches, Blizzard is finally sharing its reasoning behind this decision. Is there any chance it’s reconsidering this controversial move?
World of Warcraft: The War Within Will Continue With Early Access Charge
In a recent interview with IGN, game director Ion Hazzikostas made it clear that Blizzard has no plans to reverse course.
Despite the backlash, it’s going to make hardcore players pay what looks like ‘tax‘ to get into the new content 72 hours earlier than everyone else.

When Kevin Hart started out, he made himself the butt of most of the jokes in his self-deprecating standup routines. Now, he fancies himself as a Hip Hop mogul type, launching businesses left and right and producing a steady stream of TV shows and films. Unfortunately, this flurry of output in recent years hasn't all been that great. Earlier this year, Hart starred in "Lift," which topped the Netflix charts despite being yet another generic streaming flick quickly buried by the tide of "content" spewing forth in the streaming age. Prior to that, Hart tried to bring an air of prestige to his streaming exploits by convincing Wesley Snipes to play his brother in Netflix limited series "True Story." Sadly for the comedian, Snipes proved to be the best thing about the show.

Things have been undeniably bleak for a while in the documentary space, but at the moment, it does feel like the genre is on an upswing. Given how the Sundance Film Festival has long been the primary launchpad for Best Documentary Feature Oscar contenders it was reassuring to see so many of the documentaries that screened there be so well-received by audiences and secure distribution along the way.
In addition to winning the Audience Award for the U.S. Documentary section, “Daughters” won overall Festival Favorite at Sundance this year.

Every film that he has made previously is a fantasy action thriller with nothing but low scores. This one is basically a Warcraft knockoff, even the title is winking at that. After literally years of waiting, the "Borderlands" movie is finally upon us. Directed by Eli Roth (with an assist from "Deadpool" director Tim Miller), the feature film based on the wildly popular series of video games arrives on the big screen next weekend. Not only have fans of the games long been waiting to see these characters brought to life, but Lionsgate has been actively working on this adaptation for several years. It's been plagued with delays, but it's now, at long last, going to get its day in court. Unfortunately, based on the early indicators, from a business perspective, it's not going to be a bumpy ride.
"Borderlands" is currently eyeing an opening weekend domestically in the $13 to $18 million range, per Box Office Theory. The big question mark right now is the film's budget, which has yet to be reported. It is estimated to be in the $100 million range.

The week that includes the July 4 holiday is usually a big one for streaming services — but it’s never been as big as this year.
Nielsen’s streaming content ratings show the week of July 1-7 as the biggest one ever since the measurement firm began regularly tracking streaming several years ago. TV users spent 313 billion minutes on streaming platforms for the week, and for the first time, every entrant in the top 10 overall titles had at least 1 billion minutes of viewing.
The previous biggest week came just seven days earlier, when seven of the overall top 10 crossed the billion-minute mark. Nielsen also says July 7 was the fourth-largest streaming day it has ever tracked, behind Jan. 13 — when Peacock had an exclusive NFL playoff game — and Feb. 17-18, which was both the Presidents Day holiday and had a cold snap keeping much of the country indoors.

In 2006, South Park asked the question, “How do you kill that which has no life?” while series co-creator Trey Parker pulled out his hair thinking that he had just learned how he would kill his show.
Simply by its premise, it’s easy to see why Parker thought that the iconic South Park Season 10 episode “Make Love, Not Warcraft” wouldn’t work. In addition to its profanity and its ruthlessly iconoclastic takes on pop culture, South Park is best known for its simple art style, inspired by the construction paper models that populated the show’s pilot episode. Animating most of a South Park episode within the massively popular Mmorpg World of Warcraft and writing the entire episode based on the assumption that South Park’s audience was as enthralled by both the video game and the nerd culture surrounding it as its writers was a huge risk, but it...

A majority of workers voted to join a union aligned with the Communications Workers of America in a contest that took place between June 24 and July 23, The Hollywood Reporter has learned. The Cwa now reps 1,750-plus game workers at Microsoft.

Over 9 years have passed since Blizzard released the first Overwatch, which at the time became an absolute success, mixing first-person action with the Moba genre. Unfortunately, fans have noticed that over the years, the studio has failed to add new, intriguing content.
Players can’t help but make comparisons with the imminent release of the much-anticipated Marvel Rivals, and everything indicates that the title from the creators of Warcraft may have to make a better effort to improve certain aspects, such as character presentation.

While video games have enjoyed a surprisingly long history of quality spin-offs, the fact is that the vast majority of video game spin-offs could most generously be described as forgotten. For every Mario Kart, Mega Man X, World of Warcraft, or Metroid Prime, you have hundreds of spin-off games that have largely been lost to time.
Yet, some forgotten video game spin-offs are far more interesting than others. Some are quite good and deserve more recognition than they’ll probably ever get. Others seem like they should have been a bigger deal than they ultimately were. Together, each of these games will make you ask some variation of the always fascinating question, “Wait, that game exists?”
The Misadventures of Tron Bonne – Mega Man (1999)
Given that the mainline Mega Man series tends to go dormant for long periods, it’s easy to forget that Mega Man is one of the most prolific franchises in gaming.

Once Human has recently faced scrutiny over its privacy policy. The whole situation began when players misinterpreted the policy, believing that the game demanded personal information such as government-issued IDs.
But a closer look reveals that the data collection practices aren’t as invasive as they first seemed, with requirements primarily driven by local laws. This fan feedback has even gotten the resident game dev and security person on the internet to talk about it.

One of Netflix's tactics to keep audiences engaged is finding forgotten films and presenting them to modern viewers. So often the streamer asks us all the question, "Are you sure you didn't like this when it first came out?," and apparently our collective response is frequently "No, actually, it's kinda good." This happened earlier this year with forgotten action movie "The Bricklayer" and prior to that Netflix breathed new life into Keanu Reeves' 2008 crime-thriller "Street Kings." In the latter's case, it was a worthy resurgence for a decent little effort from director David Ayer that slipped under the radar when it first released. But in the case of, say, "The Snowman," which resurfaced in Netflix in 2023 after a dismal theatrical debut back in 2017, we started to get the idea that Netflix viewers will watch pretty much anything.
Now, the streaming juggernaut is once again offering a forgotten film somewhat of a reprieve.

Even if you’re not a gamer, you can obviously notice that there is a huge trend for adapting video games for movies and TV shows. Fallout, The Last of Us, Tomb Raider, Uncharted and even Five Nights at Freddy’s - they all have their own adaptations now.
The more scale and worldbuilding a game has, the more money filmmakers need to make a decent movie based on it. However, sometimes the price is too high, but the result is not so satisfying, and it’s exactly what happened to the 2016 movie adaptation that has just landed on Netflix.
This fantasy starts by showing that the orc shaman Gul'dan opens a portal to the human realm of Azeroth and organizes his own conquering army to invade it. In order to protect their lands from orcs, people team up, headed by a mighty warrior and a wizard.

Warcraft, the 2016 film adaptation of Blizzard Entertainment’s popular video game franchise, has found renewed interest as it climbs the Netflix charts in the United States. This resurgence comes amidst swirling rumors about a potential sequel, Warcraft 2, possibly heading to the streaming giant.
The original Warcraft film, directed by Duncan Jones, stands as the third highest-grossing video game movie adaptation of all time. Despite mixed critical reception, with a 28% score on Rotten Tomatoes, the film garnered a dedicated fanbase and achieved significant commercial success, grossing over $439 million globally.
Recent fan-made trailers have fueled speculation about a Warcraft sequel. Two trailers, “Warcraft 2: The Lich King” and “Warcraft 2: The Final Chapter,” created by Foxstar Media in September 2023 and June 2024 respectively, have sparked excitement among fans. These high-quality productions blend footage from the original movie with cinematic elements from the World of Warcraft game, presenting a tantalizing vision of what a sequel could look like.

Some supposed online trailers have fans convinced a Warcraft 2 movie is coming to Netflix soon.
The first Warcraft movie—set in Blizzard's beloved World of Warcraft world—was released in 2016. It brought to life this long-awaited conflict between the Alliance and the Horde on the big screen for the first time.
That first film failed to reach the lofty expectations one would expect from a Warcraft film adaptation to hit. It earned a mediocre $439 million at the worldwide box office and missed the mark critically, sitting at 29% on Rotten Tomatoes.
