Fresh off a recent turn in “The Hunger Games” universe at the end of last year and a cameo in Yorgos Lanthimos’ “Kinds of Kindness” earlier this summer, Hunter Schafer is quickly returning back to the silver screen with “Luz” filmmaker Tilman Singer’s “Cuckoo.” The film centers on 17-year-old Gretchen (Schafer), who is forced to leave her American home to live with her father in a resort in the German Alps with his new wife and family, before things very quickly spin out of control into a surreal horror nightmare.
Three months after the Season 2 finale of “Euphoria” aired, Schafer flew to Germany to star in her very first feature film. “Looking back on the experience overall, the biggest difference is that I started ‘Euphoria’ in 2019 and it’s still going now. And then with something like ‘Cuckoo,’ with this experience, it lives solely in those three months [of production], at...

It may have taken decades to get cameras rolling on this movie, but The Long Walk is moving at a brisk pace now. Based on Stephen King’s 1979 novel of the same name, which he published under the name Richard Bachman, production recently began on the film with Francis Lawrence (The Hunger Games) directing and Lionsgate on board as the studio. Now, we have word that two more actors have joined the already sizable ensemble cast in the form of Star Wars icon Mark Hamill and Judy Greer. Fango reports that Hamill and Greer are boarding the film, though their...

Mark Hamill and Judy Greer are the latest actors to join Francis Lawrence’s The Long Walk. More on the upcoming film adaptation below.
A film adaptation of Stephen King’s The Long Walk has been in the making since the 80s, but filmmakers such as George A. Romero, Frank Darabont and André Øvredal tried and failed to get the film made. Thankfully, it looks like it’s finally happening.
We reported in June that Lionsgate had set the cast for the film, which is to be directed by Francis Lawrence. David Jonsson and Cooper Hoffman are leading a cast that also includes Garrett Wareing, Tut Nyout, Charlie Plummer, Ben Wang, Jordan Gonzalez, Joshua Odjick, and Roman Griffin Davis.
Deadline now reports that Judy Greer and Mark Hamill have also joined the project. All the role details are currently kept secret, but as filming has just begun we expect to...

Producer Roy Lee revealed on Thursday that Netflix is still in development on a Bioshock movie and the project should move forward with The Hunger Games franchise’s Francis Lawrence directing, even if the pic winds up being a bit smaller in scope than originally envisioned.
Speaking at Collider’s Producers on Producers panel, also featuring Akiva Goldsman and Lorenzo di Bonaventura, Lee noted that the project entered development at Netflix at a time when the streamer was under a different film regime. This was the era of film chief Scott Stuber, who announced his departure from Netflix in January, with Dan Lin eventually coming in to take over his role, shifting the streamer away from producing an abundance of huge tentpole projects, in favor of more modestly budgeted efforts.
“The new regime has lowered the budgets,” said Lee. “So we’re doing a much smaller version… It’s going...

The Grammys’ visual media field honors the best in music made for film, television and other formats. This year’s contenders range from blockbuster soundtracks to more under-the-radar but important material from critically beloved artists.
For Best Song for Visual Media, the race is full of plausible winners. Olivia Rodrigo could take home another Grammy this year here for “Can’t Catch Me Now,” the lead single from the “Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes” soundtrack. There’s precedent for Rodrigo, as Taylor Swift previously won here for a song from the same franchise, “Safe and Sound” from the original “Hunger Games”; both, however, were snubbed by the Oscars.
Speaking of Oscars, one Academy Award-nominated song that could be a contender here is “It Never Went Away” performed and co-written by Grammy favorite Jon Batiste for his documentary “American Symphony.” Batiste doesn’t always win at these awards,...

Several new cast members were just announced, one of which Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin and Summer School fans will recognize! Jordan Gonzalez, who plays Ash in the Max series, is one of seven new additions to the movie's cast.
Apart from Gonzalez, Deadline report that the movie will also star Philip Seymour Hoffman's son Cooper Hoffman (Licorice Pizza), David Jonsson (Industry), Garrett Wareing (Ransom Canyon), Tut Nyuot (The Witcher: Blood Origin), Charlie Plummer (Looking for Alaska), Ben Wang (Mean Girls), Joshua Odjick (The Swarm), and Roman Griffin Davis (Jojo Rabbit), though everyone's roles currently remain under wraps. Fans of dragons (and love triangles), your new TV obsession just got closer to reality. On July 21, Amazon announced that “Anne with an E” creator Moira Walley-Beckett would serve as the showrunner of its upcoming “Fourth Wing” TV adaptation.
The TV adaptation of the book world‘s biggest hit of the last few years is sure to be expensive — with a magical universe full of plenty of dragons to create. But this isn’t exactly a “Game of Thrones” ripoff, though everyone involved would of course love those fans to check it out.
“Fourth Wing” is the first book in Rebecca Yarros’ “Empyrean” series, of which two of a planned five installments have been released so far. The first dropped in May 2023, and the second, “Iron Flame,” in November 2023. The adaptation rights to “Fourth Wing” were snapped up by Michael B. Jordan’s Outlier Society, which is behind the planned Prime Video series.

Lady Gaga‘s “Bad Romance” inspired one of the best and trippiest music videos of all time. The director of the clip explained that it’s about people who are “kind of vampires.” Interestingly, “Bad Romance” didn’t manage to reach No. 1 in the United States — but it did inspire a Meryl Streep cover.
Lady Gaga’s ‘Bad Romance’ is about women being auctioned off
Francis Lawrence is a movie director responsible for popcorn flicks like I Am Legend and every Hunger Games movie except for the first one. Perhaps his most significant work is the music video for “Bad Romance.” While everyone can agree the clip is visually stunning, its plotline can be difficult to understand upon first viewing. During a 2010 interview with CBS News, Lawrence gave us his interpretation of “Bad Romance.”

When the Twilight saga hit theaters with its first film in 2008, the whole world had already been carried away by the story and especially the characters. The vampire Edward Cullen, in particular, was one of the biggest crushes at the time, and not just among fans, but even among celebrities. Jennifer Lawrence was one of them.

Edgar Wright is officially making The Running Man, a new version of Stephen King’s novel last adapted in 1987. Here’s how it could differ from that earlier one:
Most readers would likely agree that The Running Man isn’t the best of Arnold Schwarzenegger’s cycle of action movie vehicles from the 1980s and early 1990s, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t memorable. If you’ve seen it, you can probably quote a line or two (“Sub-Zero… now plain zero!”), or remember Richard Dawson’s captivatingly oily turn as game show host, Jack Killian.
You might recall the almost musical note that one of the villains, Buzzsaw (Gus Rethwisch), manages to hit when a chainsaw’s applied to his nether regions. Or even remember the bafflement of seeing rockers Mick Fleetwood and Dweezil Zappa show up.
Directed by Paul Michael Glaser and written by Steven E de Souza,...

Jennifer Lawrence Once Took A Jab At Lindsay Lohan. (Photo Credit – Instagram)
In 2015, Jennifer Lawrence took a shot at Lindsay Lohan, prompting the Parent Trap actress’ family to hit back. Jennifer Lawrence stopped by The Late Show with Stephen Colbert In 2015, where she took a jab at Lindsay Lohan.
At the time, Lawrence quipped, “I get like Lindsay Lohan–grade exhaustion but without any drugs or alcohol. I’m always in bed early. I’m still tired.”
Lindsay Lohan didn’t take too kindly to the remark, nor did her family, who, united by Jennifer Lawrence’s choice words, went after her online and in the media. Before Lohan responded to Lawrence’s seemingly callous quip, her sister Aliana Lohan fired back by tweeting: “I never breathe life into negativity, but I stand by my family. Disappointed in Jennifer Lawrence. You lost a fan.”

Star Trek has fed our creative imaginations for the past 60 years in an endless litany of exploratory stories stretching out into strange new worlds across the intergalactic universe. And while that in itself is an entertaining prospect, the realities of the world outside often clash with the illusions of these imagined stories.

In 2017, Jennifer Lawrence took over the hosting duties on Jimmy Kimmel Live! for one episode. The show brought someone Lawrence had been a huge fan of for a long time—Kim Kardashian. Lawrence had a fun time chatting with Kardashian, where they discussed her ex-boyfriends, cheating, and which Kardashian probably lost their virginity first, among other things.

Have any of you noticed a dash of fairy-tale enchantment embedded in the vast narrative of Ryan Condal & George R. R. Martin’s House of the Dragon? Well, prior to its majestic debut, the series was frequently likened to the Roy family saga Succession, which itself is a modern dance of power and betrayal. However, believe it or not, House of the Dragon seems to share its dragon fire not just with its famous predecessor, Game of Thrones, but also with the animated world of Shrek.

Consider this: the regal green gown of Queen Alicent Hightower that mirrors Princess Fiona’s iconic attire and the similarity between the demise of two kings, albeit one croaking quite literally as a frog. All this is laid bare in a comparison video (via Instagram) that could tickle the ribs of both kingdoms near and far.

The first trailer for Hellboy: The Crooked Man received a mixed response from fans of Big Red and something tells us this new look at Jack Kesy as the title character won't change many minds.
While this approach to the iconic hero is in line with the comics, it feels a little low-budget. David Harbour's take went much heavier on prosthetics and didn't look much better, to be fair. However, the original big screen iteration dreamed up by Guillermo del Toro and Ron Perlman remains beloved.
It would be wrong not to give Hellboy: The Crooked Man a fair shot, of course, and it will be interesting to see whether it exceeds expectations later this year (it's mid-July and we still don't have a confirmed release date).
Last October, we learned that Ketchup Entertainment acquired the reboot; for those of you who may not be aware, they're the studio...

As Illumination/Universal’s Despicable Me 4 continues global rollout, and with its Friday numbers included, the latest from Gru and the gang has helped propel the Despicable Me/Minions franchise across the $5B mark (to $5.025B through Friday) at the worldwide box office. This makes it the first animated franchise ever to reach the milestone. It was already the biggest animated franchise of all time wordwide.

The Hunger Games franchise is iconic in more ways than one. Upon the first film’s release in 2012, it started a wave of young-adult fantasy in mainstream media, causing other films and works to be rapidly put out to keep up with audience demand. It only went up from there, with the second film being iconic in every way. Since The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, the franchise has taken somewhat of a dip, but a recent announcement has caused more anticipation for what it will bring.
After the release of The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes, it was announced that both Suzanne Collins and Francis Lawrence would be working on a book and a movie called Sunrise on the Reaping. Set in the past, the moment fans heard that the book and movie would follow the story of young Haymitch and how he won his games, they have been waiting for more updates.

Jack Quaid has become one of the scene stealers in Amazon’s The Boys. The Scream star has worked his way up to becoming one of the most interesting actors among the current crop of actors. Despite fans loving his performance in the projects mentioned above and many others, some have criticized him for being a privileged nepo baby.

In Hollywood, actors will try their level best to showcase maximum authenticity on screen. From dangerous fight scenes to rather awkward love scenes, celebrities have never shied away from bringing their A-game. However, sometimes these scenes might take a different turn altogether.

Jack Quaid is widely recognized for his portrayal of Hugh “Hughie” Campbell in The Boys, as well as for his notable voice roles such as Brad Boimler in Star Trek: Lower Decks and Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, Clark Kent / Superman in My Adventures with Superman, and Earth-65 Peter Parker / Lizard in Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse.
Despite his established career, Quaid is also the son of renowned actors Dennis Quaid and Meg Ryan. This familial connection has led some fans to label him a “nepo baby,” short for “nepotism baby,” which refers to individuals who achieve success in careers similar to those of their already prominent parents.
Recently, Maya Hawke, daughter of Ethan Hawke and Uma Thurman, acknowledged how her parents assisted her in securing her initial roles. Similarly, in a recent discussion, Jack Quaid expressed his acceptance of the “nepo baby” label but emphasized that he believes it has no bearing on his talent.

Calling all Baytriots! Bro King and director Michael Bay may finally be turning his gaze from the big screen to the small screen. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Bay is in talks to direct "an acerbic fantasy series" entitled "Barbaric" for Netflix, which is based on the Vault Comics series of the same name.
"Barbaric" is due to star Sam Claflin (from "The Hunger Games" and most recently "Daisy Jones and the Six") and Patrick Stewart (Professor X and Captain Picard himself), with Sheldon Turner of "X-Men: First Class" and "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning" acting as writer and executive producer of the series.
That last credit, of course, is how Turner met Bay in the latter's capacity as producer and founder of the Platinum Dunes production company, which began in 2003 with the company's remake of the original "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre." Sam Claflin is set to star and executive produce and Patrick Stewart is attached to star in the project, from A+E Studios and Sheldon Turner and Jennifer Klein’s studio-based 100% Productions.
Written by Turner, with Michael Bay in talks to direct, Barbaric is described as Deadpool meets Game of Thrones for the way it mashes gonzo violence and humor, sources said. Why do we bestow upon Hollywood’s finest the name of ‘stars’? Consider this for a moment; it is not mere hyperbole: these big screen icons exude an aura that can carry charismatic waves across an entire room, drawing us into their gravitational pull. And thus, it won’t be wrong to say that Austin Butler, the Golden Globe-touting charmer, incarnates this star-quality phenomenon.
For instance, last month, he mesmerized and gave Sarah Harris, host of The Project, a rosy-cheeked tizzy. He worked his magic with the finesse of a maestro, making laser-focused eye contact and using a voice that seemed to channel Elvis Presley himself—all without revealing too much about his game.

A masterclass in magnetism, Butler’s smoldering charm was not only palpable to the enamored interviewer but also to the legion of fans who found themselves orbiting his star power in the comments.

It remains to be seen if Neil Marshall will ever get the chance to direct the Dog Soldiers sequel or the Predator movie he wants to make – but he’s not just waiting around to be given those opportunities. His latest film is the action thriller Duchess, which Saban Films will be giving a digital and VOD release on August 9th… and with that date just one month away, a trailer for the film has arrived online. You can check it out in the embed above.
Marshall wrote the Duchess screenplay with Charlotte Kirk, who also stars as the title character, a tough, working-class, petty criminal who morphs into an anti-heroine to be reckoned with in a murky underworld, in the treacherous world of diamond smuggling. Opening with a quote from Carl Sagan, “For small creatures such as we, the vastness is made bearable only through love” Last Night on Earth then shows us a brief glimpse of a couple and their young son camping. The man seems troubled, the woman so obviously upset that the boy asks his father about it. “She’s just tired” he replies unconvincingly.
Nearby, Holly and Ryan are staying in a trailer. They seem happy, although there are hints to the contrary scattered through their conversations and actions. A flashback to a party only heightens the feeling.
Writer/director Marcos Efron teases the viewer, making it clear that something is very wrong with the world we are seeing, but not giving any clues as to what that is. And if you actually did...

Here at FandomWire, we review the Hulu and FX series The Bear Season 3. The article does not contain spoilers.
I said it once, but it uh bears repeating: FX’s The Bear remains an American classic despite a season that will disappoint many. Creator Christopher Storer has developed a show like no other on television, producing anxiety-inducing stress and tension that can pivot on a dime and lead directly to jaw-dropping breaking points.
And yes, the hardships and challenges faced by this group of damaged souls took a turn in a season that lacked focus. While I can practically guarantee many will be left disappointed after a sophomore effort that will go down as one of the best in television history, Storer’s latest chapter with Carmy and friends is frenetically brilliant.
