Matt Lanter's grandfather was a survivor of the USS Indianapolis. In the film, Lanter wears his grandfather's dogtags.

Scenes set on the USS Indianapolis were filmed aboard the USS Alabama, docked in Mobile Bay, Mobile, Alabama. The same battleship was used to film Under Siege (1992).
