Jean-Claude Van Damme has kept a fairly low profile compared to many other 80s action heroes. And that includes such non-genre appearances as voice acting in kids films like Kung Fu Panda 2 and 3, Minions: The Rise of Gru as well as a cameo in the French comedy Haters. However, Darkness of Man sees him return to the Dtv action spotlight
As the film opens, Russel Hatch lies in a puddle of his own blood, bleeding out from several bullet wounds. He tells us in voice-over that, like every story, this began with a woman. And we go back to Miami two years prior when Hatch was an Interpol agent.

It feels just like last month we were complimenting Hulu on its true crime offerings. Well, with its list of new releases for February 2023, Hulu is staying in the true crime lane. Suppose that’ll happen when you push back the release date of a series or two.
February sees the arrival of three notable true crime series on Hulu. Taiwan Crime Stories premieres on Feb. 1 and presents four true tales from Taiwan’s criminal “dark underbelly.” That will be followed by ABC News Studios’ Killing County on Feb. 3. That three-episode series ponders the question “what happens when police kill?” The most interesting true crime offering premieres on Feb. 9. That’s when Stolen Youth: Inside the Cult at Sarah Lawrence College shares its four-episode saga of Larry Ray and the young college students he victimized.
As far as non true crime offerings go, the third and final season of Hulu...

Finally, we learned more about Hannah.
Hannah let slip some of her secrets on NCIS: New Orleans Season 5 Episode 7.
What brought this out of her was a case that dwelled on the relationship between mothers and daughters.
Hannah has been a breath of fresh air on NCIS: New Orleans Season 5.
When Pride has, once again, left his regional office to get directly involved in yet another case, Hannah willingly takes a step back and becomes another member of the team.
But when Pride is off doing his own thing, which never seems to be administrative, she smoothly takes over leadership of his old team with hardly a ripple.

That's not to say there isn't any tension, however. Gregorio, who had been the resident profiler, seemed to bristle when Pride handed Hannah the interrogation of Yasmin. But then, Gregorio bristles a lot.

From the visionary mind of the man that brought us Slink and After School Massacre, comes a new kind of cinematic experience, Absolute Vow, an adaptation from Judges 11, in the Old Testament.
Biblical scholars have called it the strangest story in the Holy cannon, the unsettling tale of Jephthah, who was faced with a very difficult decision; sacrifice his only daughter, or break the vow he made to God Almighty.
The film is Frolic Pictures’ most profound, intricate and complicated production thus far. The bizarre story has been on Masters’ heart for some time, and finally his Bible epic will be made and will give new meaning to the faith-based film, that also has elements of horror, fantasy and sensationalism.

Timbuktu A nominee for Best Foreign Language Oscar last year, Timbuktu is something of an overlooked gem. I'm struggling as to whether I call it a 2014 or 2015 release, but no matter what year you consider it, it's fantastic. Here's the opening paragraph from my review: With Timbuktu, director and co-writer Abderrahmane Sissako has created a film to test our understanding of what words such as "terrorist", "jihadist" and "Islamic extremists" mean as much as what they don't mean, offering a glimpse into a world I could never say I understand or even comprehend. Sissako's level of empathy for his characters is what gives the film its weight, opening your eyes as you just might find your morals tested in ways you couldn't have expected.

Jean-Claude Van Damme continues to explore and embrace his darker side in this modest Asian action thriller, as a kidnap & rescue specialist who falls foul of organ traffickers in the Philippines. Sadly, budgetary constraints and a lack of interesting action beats make Pound Of Flesh as sloppy and indigestible as its title might suggest.Shortly after arriving in Manila, Deacon (Van Damme) comes to the aid of a young woman, Ana (Charlotte Peters), being manhandled by an overbearing suitor, Drake (Darren Shahlavi). But no sooner has he agreed to a "thank you" drink, Deacon wakes up to find himself in a bathtub full of ice, and his kidney missing. As if this wasn't reason to get mad on its own, Deacon was actually in town...
