Jet Pilot (1957)
It would never happen.
This whole story line is preposterous, The very idea that a defecting Soviet pilot would be flying our very latest fighter after just a few days after coming over is ridiculous. It wouldn't happen in a 100 years. In the 50s when this was filmed was the height of the cold war and our military people were paranoid about our military hardware. Aside from security issues it takes years before our own trainees crawl into a jet cockpit and remember this was the 50s.....America did not have female combat pilots till about 30 years later. The Air Force would never just take someones word that they were A qualified pilot. This movie is not hard to watch. Its photographed well. You just have to take the ultra fantasy story line with a grain of salt.
2001: A Space Odyssey (1968)
a spiritual take on this magnificent odyssey
The great monolith turns up at some of the world changing events like the primeval monkees discover using weapons to kill and are on their way to becoming human. A grand event on the evolution time scale.
The monolith then turns up on the moon possibly millions of years later when man has advanced enough for space travel. This also emplies the infinite patience of a greater spirit. The sun hits the monolith and shoots a radio beam to Jupiter. They go to Jupiter and encounter some things beyond the comprehension of mere man. More monoliths, time bending, the embryonic baby floating in space. It all suggests higher power and higher intelligence.
Charlie's Angels (1976)
The launch of jiggle television.
Sadly to this day they all believe they were blazing a trail for strong roles for women on tv. What they were doing was inventing T & A tv. Still a cute show with a large following (more men I'll bet). I love the plots where they were supposedly in some dirty job and they all had perfectly placed dirt or grease smudges....one on each cheek and and one on the forehead.
The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson (1962)
A stellar moment in the history of comedy.
The funniest line in the history of television was on this show. Johnny was interviewing Dolly Parton. They were discussing her healthy bustline. Out of the blue Johnny said "I'd give about a years salary to peek under there".
