Oshi no Ko: Egosurfing (2023)
Heartbreaking, enraging and real
Wow this completely blew the manga away, when I read this part in the manga it was tough, depressing and it also made me very angry because of how unfair this situation was for Akane, but this episode... they made such a fantastic job in showing the pain and struggles that Akane was dealing with to the point it felt a bit too real.
But that is ok, because it is a real problem!
One of Aka's objectives with this story is to show the dark side of the show business, he did it first with AI, then with the manga live adaptation but this... might be the best example in the story so far. Also because it is based on a real tragedy.
I am just glad that there are authors like Aka Akasaka who are willing to show these very real problems and don't shy on showing just how unfair and dark the show business and the internet can be.
10/10 Best episode so far!
Shigatsu wa kimi no uso (2014)
Is ok
I mean, I have been watching this show every April for the past five years, I also learnt how to play the piano, it also gave a new perspective in life and made me understand that even in the most hopeless and depressing circumstances there is always something good, something that we can do with our life.
It made me understand that we can overcome even our biggest traumas, our biggest regrets and that is never to late to make things right and truly start living our life. Kousei and Kaori had to go through so much suffering and in Kousei's case, regret, guilt and grief but both still were able to find meaning in their life.
So yeah, I guess it is an ok show.
Better Call Saul (2015)
Better Call Saul redefines the term prequel!
Been able to produce a great prequel is very hard, been to produce a great prequel to The Greatest TV Show of All Time should be considered impossible. But Peter Gould, Vince Gilligan and the rest of the Better Call Saul crew didn't just produce a great prequel to Breaking Bad, they created another masterpiece, so good in fact a lot of people argue that it is better than Breaking Bad.
Better Call Saul is a show about not only one lawyer but a couple of characters that struggle with the choices they made and with the fact that most of them are in a bad choice road.
We got Jimmy Mcguill who struggles with his "colorful" side wish latter would be known as Saul Goodman. Kim Wexler also struggles with her decisions, Mike who already made a bunch of terrible life choices before we met him and us trying not to make any more mistakes. You could say that Nacho Vargas also faces the same choices and consequences.
The most impressive thing about Better Call Saul it's way to generate tension and suspense even if we know a lot of it's characters make it to Breaking Bad. Also, the addition of Kim, Nacho, Lalo, Chuck and Howard, 5 of the best characters in the whole BB/BCS universal.
At the end of the day, Better Call Saul will gone down as the prime example of how to make a prequel and as one of the greatest tv shows of all time.
Better Call Saul: Waterworks (2022)
The most depressing episode in the series
Watching Kim's new mundane and boring life was honestly the most depressing thing on the entire show, a empty woman trying desperately to forget her past but not truly living at all.
When she finally confessed her crimes to Howard's wife, it looked like she was finally able to feel the guilt that she had been keeping all these years, which is what Saul hasn't been able to do.
Gene has become the most despicable version of Jimmy, a soulless monster who is trying to enjoy his current life by hurting everybody around him. And also running away from his past, the past that Kim finally decided to confront.
That last scene with Marion, I really thought that Gene was going to kill Marion, fortunately she is still alive and Gene is now on the run, probably for the last time.
Kaguya-sama wa kokurasetai ~ Tensai tachi no ren'ai zunô sen ~: Dual Confessions, Part 2/The Shuchiin Afterparty (2022)
Dual confession!
When fans talk about their favorite character it is always either Kaguya or Chika or Ishigami and we always forget the one character that actually make every other character member of the student council even better. The one that helped Ishigami at his lowest point, the one that help Miko overcome her fears, the one that torments Chika with his incompetence(ok this might not be a benefit) and now in this episode he is able to make Kaguya take off her mask so she can finally be honest about her feeling. The GOAT of this show has always been Miyuki Shirogane!
What an incredible episode, for a show that loves to troll and meme all the cliches of the romance genre they just gave us the best ULTRA ROMANTIC love confession of all time, Aka Akasaka is a genius!
One Piece: Wan pîsu: The Pirate King is Born: Arriving at the Last Island! (2021)
A Laugh Tale
After this episode I have no doubts in my mind that Roger was the greatest Pirate that has ever lived, not because he found the One Piece or because of his strength but because of the kind of man that he was. He was and will ever be (until Luffy surpasses him) the greatest Pirate of all time.
But...
What is One Piece? An endless and priceless treasure? The True about the Ancient Weapons? The Void Century? Yes, it is all of that but much more. What could be greater that all of that? Well Roger understood it as soon as he saw it and all he could do was laughed.... laughed so hard that tears were pouring out of his eyes. Maybe the most important part about the One Piece is not the power that it has or the answers that it provides but what it represents and that is a Laugh! A Tale of Laughter! The most incredible and funny story that you could possible imagine. The greatest adventure of all time! And that is not only the One Piece treasure but also the show called One Piece. This right here is the heart and soul of One Piece.
We might not know exactly what the One Piece is but now we know that the One Piece represents the Greatest and Funniest Story ever told. And after all isn't this what this show is all about? Not above the mysteries or who the strongest pirates are not even about all the major conflicts of the story. One Piece is an Endless Adventure full of Laughs. And maybe if that Happinesses is what the One Piece truly is wouldn't it make it the Greatest Treasure of all Time?
Kaguya-sama wa kokurasetai ~ Tensai tachi no ren'ai zunô sen ~: Yu Ishigami Closes His Eyes, Part 3/Miyuki Shirogane and Yu Ishigami/Kyoko Otomo Doesn't Realize (2020)
And thus, Yu Ishigami finally opened his eyes...
For a show that is supposed to be comedy, they just produced a masterpiece in drama and character development. Ishigami is LEGENDARY in this episode. This was the anime episode of the year, it won't get any better than this.
Better Call Saul: Magic Man (2020)
Great way to start the new season!
Fantastic episode to start the season. Lalo has been built in the last season a the new enemy that Gus and Mike need to take down and after this episode, we know that Gus considers him a huge threat for his future business. We also see, as I expected, that Mike and Gus are not in good terms anymore, it seems that is gonna take a bit more for Mike to truly "break bad". As for Saul and Kim, wow, I feel so bad for Kim, she's now looking like "season 5 Skyler" just that this time we got an actual sympathetic female character. Also, Jimmy has complete embrace his Saul persona and he is really good at this. However, the highlight of this episode for me was that insane post-Breaking Bad opening segment, wow it was so intense, you could feel the pressure keep building and building. I was almost sure that he wasn't going to get caught and then that cap driver came in and it all went south really quickly.I am not sure what Saul is going to do, but since that one will be the last post-Breaking Bad scene I predict that things will not go the way Saul wants.
Vinland Saga: End of the Prologue (2019)
I hope you guys enjoyed the Prologue!
Yes, that is correct, this was just the Prologue, this was just the beginning of Thorfinn's journey to become a true warrior, but even just the Prologue was absolutely fantastic! This by far one of the best ending to a season in anime history!
After this, everything has changed, Thorfinn has just lost his only reason to live, his journey for revenge has ended in a failure.
Just like Askeladd asked him, I also have to ask: "What will you do now with your life Thorfinn?" But of course, he has no idea, he turned his back to his father's ideals and let revenge to overtake his life, but now he doesn't even have that, now he just a dumb kid without a purpose in his life. He forgot that "a true warrior needs no weapon".
I also have to give my respects to Askeladd for not given up on his objectives even if it was at the cost of him own life, for me he was the MVP of this story until this point and his death was handled with perfection.
El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie (2019)
Just what I expected
To be honest, I was fine with the ending that Jesse had in "Felina", but this movie was definitely nice. There were some interesting flashbacks that help us understand just how awful was Jesse's experience as Uncle Jack's slave, those scenes were sad and terrifying, I felt so bad for Jesse. Apart from those scenes, there were some flashbacks that tie into the main theme of the movie, Jesse's future, Jesse's Camino.
The direction and cinematography was exactly what we would expect of a Breaking Bad Movie, just excellent.
This was just a farewell for Jesse Pinkman, we can finally stop the speculation about what was his destiny. As the character that suffered the most in Breaking Bad, I think he had a very good ending. I know he is still been traumatized by his old memories, but he is finally free. Free of the business, free of Uncle Jack and his crew and free of Heisenberg.
Dark (2017)
Time might seem to be a linear concept but is actually a convoluted mess
Dark is phenomenal time travel story but also a great drama and philosophical show. If I could describe the two main conflicts in Dark it would be:The war against time and fate, and the battle against the evil within the main characters. The first conflict was the main theme in season 1 and is represented even better in season 2, the second conflict is the main theme of season 2. Without giving any spoilers, I will say a couple of things abut this two conflicts. In Dark, the past can be influenced by the future and because of this, we can clearly see some time paradoxes or "never ending cycles" in the show, events that have no clear beginning or ending, were the rules of cause and effect cannot explain really what is going on. Remember the old saying of "what came first, the chicken or the egg?", well that old saying is perfectly represented in this show. I am still not sure if the characters are truly slaves to time or fate, season 3 will probably answer that, but for the moment I can safely say that this show has some of the best examples of time paradoxes in all of fiction.
Now, went it comes to the second conflict, the second season of Dark revealed many events that makes us question what some of the characters truly are, what they want and the role that they might play latter on. In a way, the characters are also fighting the darkness within themselves, a darkness that is not only a inner concept, but an actual physical thing that could harm other people or eventually turn any character into the very same thing that they are trying to stop. Like Nietzsche once said, "if you look at the abyss, the abyss stares back at you". Some of the characters already looked at the abyss and there might be nothing they can do to stop the abyss from staring back at them.
Season 1 was a great introduction to this world and way of storytelling, season 2 was a masterpiece that gave great deep to the development of almost every character. If season 3 keeps the pace or even manage to surpass season 2, this could become one of the few masterpieces in tv history.
Thank you Netflix and thank you germans for this incredible show.
Breaking Bad: Ozymandias (2013)
Power doesn't last forever and when it end's nothing is left
All the great Empires in human history fell apart, all the great mafia leaders and drug lords were killed or capture, even the universe and the stars that seems to last an eternity also have an ending. Everything that has a beginning also has an ending and just like the old Ozymandias poem stated, even if the great Pharaoh Ozymandias once said : "My name is Ozymandias King of Kings, look on my works ye mighty and despair!" But at the end...:"Nothing beside remains". Only an empty desert, the remains of the reign of an old and foul king that thought that his power would last forever.
Heisenberg might have proudly demand :"Say my name" or said "I am the danger" at some point in his life, but now... all that power is gone. Nothing remains, he didn't only lose the power he gain, he lost every single thing he had in his life and all that was left was an old man with terminal lung cancer, crying in the desert. This were the consequences of his actions, the actions of man whose ego and pride made him think that he could be the king, the head of an empire, the consequences of the actions of a smart man who at the same time was too foolish to understand his own limitations.
This not only the greatest Breaking Bad episode or the greatest episode of a drama series. This is the greatest achievement in the history of all tv series.
Gekijouban Fate/Stay Night: Heaven's Feel - II. Lost Butterfly (2019)
Ufotable's best work to date
This movie has something that Unlimited Blade Works unfortunately lacked which is to be a complete adaptation of the original material (not saying that UBW series was bad, it was still great but it could have been so much better). With Heaven's Feel, it seems like Ufotable finally learnt it's lesson, and the result, was an absolutely breathtaking movie...
In both Heaven's Feel movies we have seen the best adaptation of the Emiya Shirou character, a man who takes the extreme decision to throw away the ideals that had ruled his entire life and all for the woman he loves, but of course, in typical Emiya fashion this is not just a decision driven by just pure love, Shirou's past trauma is still inside him and what happened is that he simply remplaces his ideal of "becoming a superhero" with the objective of "protecting Sakura no matter what". Still, his old ideals have not completely leave him and I love how the movie shows us his inner conflict. That was brilliant.
This movie also gives us a perfect adaptation of the Matou Sakura character and her brutal descent into madness, which is the 100% logical result after all pain and suffering she had to endure. There are two specific scenes in this movie that are not only brilliant in the representation of Sakura's downfall but also are simple terrifying, it make my blood cold realizing just how twisted she has become.
Also, if you think Ufotable's animation and art work couldn't get any better, well... that fight...THAT FREAKING FIGHT between Saber and Berserk.... oh man... is going to take years for any other anime studio to be able to top this, only Ufotable itself will be able to top that scene in the last movie.
The soundtrack by Yuki Kajiura, as always, was fantastic.
Overall, before Lost Butterfly, Kara no Kyoukai part 5 was the best work of Ufotable. But Lost Butterfly has overthrown it, and is now (at least until the next movie comes out) the best work by this anime studio.
Breaking Bad (2008)
The greatest story ever told
Why I am writing the 1532th review for Breaking Bad? Everything that had to be said about this show has already been said. Well, simple because, no matter how much time passes, how many times I rewatch it, I simple cannot stop been blow away by this story, a story about transformation.
Vince Gilligan said that he was going to take Mr.Chips and turn it into Scarface, however, I don't think even him could have realize how magnificent this journey about transformation would be. How many epic, shocking and heartbreaking moment it would have. How many compelling character we would watch interact.
Walter White has simple the greatest character arc of all time, there is no question about it, I can't find a more compelling story than watching a man slowly go from your simple every day school teacher to the greatest villain in tv history.
The transformation is not only present in Walter White but in also the first characters we see in this show that all go through a journey of change, from Jesse to Skyler to Hank and Mary. And of course, we also have some characters that never change but that with their actions, they contributed to the transformation of Walter White, Gus Fring and Mike been two of the best antagonist ever.
The acting is flawless, the direction is brilliant, the story... could be the greatest story ever told.
Steins;Gate (2011)
"No one knows what the future holds, that's why it's potential is infinite"
Steins;Gate is the masterpiece of drama and sci-fi anime alike, it is also the greatest time travel series/movie of all time. Yes, I am been serious here, you can bring any other tv series or movie about time travel and Steins;Gate will always win. I have never watched a better written, or better directed time travel story ever, with so many memorable character and moments. With such a brilliantly created time travel system and rules, and by the way, unlike other series, Steins;Gate actually respects the rules of it's own time travel system 100% of the time which makes the writing even more impressive.
One aspect of this anime that I always found fascinating is that it incorporates many references to some of the most famous time travel stories of all time but also some references to early internet culture (like 4chan and internet memes) and it manages to somehow make it all work within the story.
The characters in Steins;Gate are very unique, so unique in fact that most people will feel very confused once they start watching this anime, specially because of the unique and weird personality of it's protagonist Okabe Rintarou... sorry, I mean the Mad Scientist Hououin Kyouma! Let's also not forget the genius Makise "Cristina" Kurise (one of the best female characters ever), the "super hacker" Daru, the adorable but also air headed Mayuri and the "Part-time Warrior" Suzuha.
When it comes to flaws with this anime, there are many people that have expressed their discomfort with the first 11 episodes of Steins;Gate. I for one have enjoyed every single episode from the first one to the last one and I think that is has to do with the fact that once you finish this series, you realize that everything that happened in those first 11 episodes were relevant for the story and are actually really damm good episodes.
With almost nine years after it's release, Steins;Gate is still considered one of the greatest animes of all time. One of the very few masterpieces of the current anime era.
Steins;Gate: Dogma in Ergosphere (2011)
Well...welcome to Steins;Gate!
From this episode, Steins;Gate status goes from great to legendary. Not saying that the first 11 episodes were bad, cause that is simple not true but I agree that for most people this is where the series truly begins. For those who just finished watching this episode and have come here in shock, well, I only have one more thing to say... enjoy the ride!
Shingeki no Kyojin: Hero (2019)
"You were the bravest one of all of us"
As a manga reader I have been waiting for this episode for a long damm time and Studio Wit didn't disappoint. The title of the episodes was very fitting for the events that took place. We have the hero Levi who has the burden to carry the dreams of all the Survey Corp members that die to give him the chance defeat the Beast Titan and what a "fight" it was.... Levi is truly the greatest soldier alive. Eren and Mikasa are also heroes because they are the ones who have the duty to finish off both the Armored and Colossal Titan. But the real heroes in this war, the ones that truly deserve that title are both Erwin and Armin. Both of them were forced to sacrifice their dreams for humanity, and both of them were the ones that came up with the plans that are giving the victory of this war to humanity but at the same, they both knew that for those plans to succeed they both need to sacrifice their live. We still don't know if both of them are dead but that still doesn't chance the fact they both were the heroes of this episode.
This is was simple the very best of Attack on Titan.
Game of Thrones (2011)
Fantastic beginning, bad ending
Is such a shame that a show that has 4 of the best seasons in tv history and that has arguably the most memorable moment in tv history (the Red Wedding) and the best battle scene in tv history (S6 episode 9) now also has the worst series finale of all time.
Game of Thrones will still be consider one of the most important show ever created. A show that once kept viewers on the edge of their sets, that created so many memorable moments, a show that for a time was making justice to it's source material, a show that at the end of the day betrayed it's own spirit to try to subvert the expectations of it's audience.
As a fan of the show that has just watched the final episode I might want to give this show a lower rating because of how much D&D destroyed this show with it's last season, but I can't just forget the incredible first four seasons of this show. So overall, this GOT gets a 7. My rating of each season is the following:
Season 1 - 9.5/10
Season 2 - 9.5/10
Season 3 - 10/10
Season 4 - 10/10
Season 5 - 7/10 (Hardhome saved this season)
Season 6 - 8/10 (Episodes 9 and 10 saved this season)
Season 7 - 5/10
Season 8 - 3/10
Game of Thrones: The Iron Throne (2019)
Congratulations! Hope you are happy D&D
Well is official, Game of Thrones bets Dexter and becomes the show with the worst series finale of all time!
Game of Thrones: The Bells (2019)
Worst decision ever
We had 7 seasons that built Dany to be the next great ruler of Westeros, the one to "break the wheel", the "breaker of chains", it made all the sense in the world that she would become a ruler that would actually care about the people, but instead they decided to turn her into a mad queen in the last season.... From a storytelling standpoint this makes no sense. Also, last episode the scorpions easily kill one of the dragons but this time Drogon destroy all scorpions and doesn't get hit once? Talk about plot armor!
Yakusoku no Neverland (2019)
Great anime adaptation of a great manga
What happens when you mix the epic games of wits, strategies and dialogue from Death Note with the world building, violence and mystery of both Attack on Titan and Made in Abyss and then you add a bit of your own creativity to it? Well you get The Promised Neverland. Now, I am not trying to say this show is a copy of the other three I previously mention, is just that this show takes all these elements and mix them to create a very original and brilliant show.
Because this show has so many twists (even the main plot is a plotwist itself) I will focus very little on the plot. This show is about a bunch of kids living in an orphanage, they have live there for their entire life, knowing nothing about the rest of the world and the only adult they have ever seen is the woman that takes care of them which they call Mom. The story focus one the three older kids in the orphanage called Emma, Ray and Norman who after discovering the true about their home are forced to take action. I gotta say that this three kids are one of the best team of characters I have ever seen in any anime. All three kid are incredible smart but Emma is the one who's definitely less intelligent than there other two but what she lacks in intelligence she has in heart, guts and determination. Ray is the more objective but also the most manipulative and cunning of the three while also been extremely smart. Norman could be consider the smartest of all the kids but he also cares deeply for all the children, especially for Emma and Ray. There are also some other kids who are very solid characters but the main three kids have a way better character development. Speaking of great characters, both Mom and another character introduce latter called Sister Krone are also really damm good. Is because of the variety of characters that sometimes we can watch some genius plans like in Death Note, other times we get mystery and world building and other times we gruesome and nightmare fuel scenes like in Attack on Titan or Made in Abyss.
The art and animation in this show is beautiful, not the best in the industry but is still pretty damm solid. The soundtrack is absolutely incredible because is perfect for every different type of scenes that we can watch in this show.
Overall, this show was amazing, it did cut some parts of the manga (the inner thoughts and monologues of the characters been one of those things) which still leave the manga as the superior version of the story but I believe this anime was still a very successful adaptation.
I can't wait for 2020 to watch season 2!
Update: DON'T watch season 2, it awful, watch season one and then read the manga.
The Haunting of Hill House: Steven Sees a Ghost (2018)
The story is interesting and has potential but the horror is not that good
This episode does a good job in setting up the story, characters and themes of the show. The story story and characters seem interesting and it will be the main reason why I will continue watching. However, the horror is not good. This episodes contain a couple of screamers and some of the more tense scenes are those where we are waiting for the screamer to appear (which is a very mediocre horror cliche). There were two scenes that had some good horror ( the one with the father running in the house and the one with the sister in the house), but apart from those, the horror was not good at all.
The show still has some potential, so I will continue watching.
Hannibal: Mizumono (2014)
The episode that inmortalizes Hannibal Lecter as one of the best characters in tv history
So I had doubts about watching this show, but I was very interested in watching this episode. So I started watching and I liked it from episode one. Both season 1 and 2 were incredible even before watching Mizumono, but when I finished watching I was just in shock. Then only tv episode that has shocked me more is Ozymandias from Breaking Bad( which is the greatest tv episode I have ever seen). Mizumono takes every aspect that makes this show work and elevates it to the extreme. The build up to the final confrontation is fantastic. The direction is incredible. The symbolism is simple the best from all episodes I have seen so far. The gore is so extreme that is disgusting and scary but it works because of the nature of the events that take place in this episode and the nature of the character of Hannibal Lecter. There were so many shocking scenes that I literally felt like I was just one more of the preys that Hannibal was hunting. The last 15 minutes are some of the best moments in tv history.
Silent of the Lambs might always be considered the best movie about Hannibal Lecter and it is still the best for me, but Mizumono is a very VERY close second. If the character of Hannibal Lecter was already inmortal because of Silent of the Lambs, then Mizumono just reaffirm just how terrific this character is. Simple brilliant.
Better Call Saul: Winner (2018)
This is how you end a season!
This was an absolutely brilliant season finale. From the opening scene to the final scene of Jimmy we see just how much he has change. The descent into darkness is now complete, Jimmy Mcguill has truly die this episode, only Saul Goodman is left. I think that last shoot of Kim is almost the same as the last shoot of Skyler at the end of season 4 of Breaking Bad, Kim has finally realize that she has made a terrible mistake by helping Jimm.... sorry I mean by helping Saul become a lawyer again. Now things will only get worse for Kim, I really hope she finds a way to escape from this situation, because something more than just her career could be ruin.
Also, can I just say that the death scene of Werner was one of the most heartbreaking scenes in all of BCS/BB?
The directing of that scene was so well done, and the acting of Banks' was just out of this world, I was rooting so much for him to succeed in persuading Gus into letting Werner live but at the end it was all for nothing.
Lalo also proved this episode that he is one ruthless and smart man, I am sure that in the next season he will cause a lot of trouble for Gus and he is more than a great opponent for Mike.
Overall, this was one of the most hearbreaking episodes of this show, and is setting up all of the characters for an explosive and tragic season 5.
Steins;Gate 0 (2018)
Not as great as the Original Steins;Gate, but is still brilliant
Steins;Gate was one of the best anime ever produced, his unique take on time travel and it's memorable characters gave me one of the best experiences I ever had watching a show. On the other hand, Steins;Gate 0 end up been another brilliant series but for different reasons. I first gotta talk about the character development in this show which was incredible. Okabe Rintarou which was a very loud, over the top but unique character in the original series is now a very depressed person who is suffering for the decisions that he made. His Hououin Kyouma personality is gone, so our dear mad scientist is now a sad scientist. I am sure many people will dislike this new version of Okabe but you need to understand that this was the most logical result. After everything that happened, it wouldn't make any sense to have our over the top mad scientist throught this entire show. Steins Gate 0 takes the Okabe Rintarou character and manages to give it more deep and make him even more relatable to the point that it makes the ending of the original Steins Gate even better because now we know why Okabe was able to make all the decisions that he made to reach the Steins Gate worldline.
However, Okabe is not the only character that gets more deep, one of the strongest points of Steins Gate 0 is that it takes some characters that didn't get enough screen time in the first series and give them some proper character development, Mayuri and Daru are able to shine more in this show, especially Mayuri who I think gets the best character development out of all characters in this show(yes even better than Okabe). We also get some new characters like Maho, Kagari and Amadeus that get some proper development too.
When it comes to the narrative of this show, this is a very character driven anime, the time travel is still very important but the character development was definitely the most important aspect of this anime. The anime still deliver in giving us some very epic scenes involving time travel it also deliver in giving us those heartbreaking scenes that make the original show so emotional. Steins Gate 0 might be a different take of the Steins Gate story but still has some elements that made the first anime so great.
However this series does have some issues, and it has to do with the direction. The original Steins Gate was very well directed, most of the episodes of Steins Gate 0 are very well directed too , but there were some episode that had some problems, espeacially during action scenes (those who watched episode 18 know what I am referring to). Now, those action scenes weren't the most important scenes of this anime because this is more a sci-fi drama than a action/shounen anime, and the most important scenes of this anime had a great direction, so it didn't affect my enjoyment of the show that much.
The animation and art wasn't that special, just like the original show. The soundtrack was as great as the original show, the opening "Fatima" was great but still couldn't top the iconic opening of the original Steins Gate.
Overall, this anime was not able to top the first show but it was still able to deliver another incredible story with fantastic character development.
