We are excited to host not one, but two incredible guest speakers at this year’s Luncheon. We will hear from Iris Kraemer, the current Chair of Jewish Federations of North America’s (JFNA) National Women’s Philanthropy, as well as listen to the story of Liz Hirsh Naftali, a leading U.S.-based hostage release advocate, as she shares her heart-wrenching personal connections to the devastating events of October 7th.  

About Liz Hirsh Naftali 

Liz Hirsh Naftali is a Hostage Release Advocate and Humanitarian Ambassador, driven by a deeply personal mission. Motivated by her niece’s murder on October 7th by Hamas terrorists and her great-niece Abigail’s abduction in Gaza that same day, Liz has led efforts for her release and that of 250 other hostages, engaging leaders worldwide. Her advocacy transcended borders, engaging esteemed figures and leaders worldwide. Additionally, she hosts The Capitol Coffee Connection Podcast where she sits down with an array of elected leaders for coffee and conversation about heart and humanity, not politics and policy. The conversations dive deep into the ethos’s of these remarkable individuals who have dedicated their careers to public service; it peels back the layers that reveal the common thread that binds us all together – our shared experiences, stories and dreams for ourselves and the world. About Iris Kraemer 

Iris Kraemer previously served as Southeast Consortium Co-Chair of Partner 2Gether, as well as both Campaign Chair and Board Chair of the Jewish Federation and Foundation of Northeast Florida. She is currently the Governance Committee Chair. Iris has been a member of the National Women’s Philanthropy Board for the past four years and has served as Book and Author series Co-Chair and Class Chair. She also served as Education Chair on the Torah Academy Day School Board in Jacksonville. 
 
Kraemer is a member of JFNA’s Financial Relations Committee and of the Antisemitism and Security Subcommittee of the Domestic Policy and Public Affairs Committee. She is a member of the Jewish Agency for Israel North America (JAFINA) advisory committee. Kraemer is a recipient of the Kipnis-Wilson Friedland Award and the Joe P. Safer Humanitarian Award. Join us at the JCC Denver on Monday, October 7 from 4:30 – 6:00 pm for an October 7 Commemoration as we come together as a community one year after the events on October 7, 2023 in Israel. Bring your families, children, parents, partners, and friends as we sing and create a collaborative art project together. Drinks and snacks will be provided. This program is free and open to all, although registration is required to attend. We hope you can participate as we continue to support one another during this turbulent time.

October 7, 2024, will mark one year since Hamas launched its attacks on Israel, murdering more than 1,200 people, kidnapping more than 250 others, and unleashing alarming rates of antisemitism, and changing our lives forever.

What hasn’t changed is our Jewish community’s undeniable strength and resilience.

This October 7, join JEWISHcolorado and many partner organizations for an afternoon of age-appropriate family activities at the Staenberg-Loup JCC, and an evening, community-wide gathering to mark this moment at Temple Emanuel, to be inspired, and look toward a brighter future together. Dr. Noam Weissman is the Executive Vice President of OpenDor Media (Unpacked), which since 2009 has been a pioneer in the production of engaging, informative, and inspiring Jewish-and-Israel-related educational media to address the challenges young Jews face today. Noam spearheads the educational vision and content creation at OpenDor Media. He leads a team of producers and educators for the Unpacked brand, which reaches millions of young Jews and non-Jews yearly through articles, videos, and social media. Noam is also the host of Unpacking Israeli History, which consistently trends as the #1 Jewish podcast across the globe and leads the Unpacked for Educators division, which is used by over 10,000 educators across the globe, and recently launched a new platform for independent schools to teach about Israel and antisemitism, called ConnectED.
