KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - Kansas City Royals second baseman Michael Massey will make his return to the field defensively Thursday night in the Royals’ final game of a 10-game homestand.

Massey went on the injured list in May with lower back tightness and returned to the Kansas City lineup as a designated hitter in his past seven games with the Royals.

The Royals said Massey would ease his way back into playing defensively when he returned from the injured list on June 24.

At the plate, Masse has gone 4-for-22 since returning from the injured list. On Thursday night against the Tampa Bay Rays, he’ll head back to second base defensively with Maikel Garcia getting a day off and Nick Loftin playing third base.

Kansas City is currently in the American League’s final spot for a Wild Card.
