Witt Jr. far from favorite among oddsmakers for 2024 Home Run Derby

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - Bobby Witt Jr. is set to become the fifth Kansas City Royal in the franchise’s history to compete in the MLB Home Run Derby when he steps into the batter’s box next Tuesday at Globe Life Field.
And while he’s Kansas City’s favorite participant in this year’s derby, he’s not oddsmakers’ favorite.

The Royals 24-year-old shortstop ranks fifth among the eight participants in the odds to win the long ball slugging contest.

Witt Jr. has 15 home runs with three games to go before the All-Star break.
The 2024 Home Run Derby will be held Monday, July 15, at 7 p.m. CT on ESPN. On Tuesday, Witt Jr. will appear in his first MLB All-Star Game, along with Royals catcher Salvador Perez and pitchers Cole Ragans and Seth Lugo.
