BCSO deputy in critical condition after experiencing medical emergency, sheriff’s office says

BCSO says CPR was administered to the deputy before they were transported to a nearby hospital

BEXAR COUNTY, Texas – A Bexar County sheriff’s deputy who experienced a medical emergency shortly after initiating a traffic stop is now in critical condition.

The emergency happened just before 2 a.m. on Aug. 17 at the intersection of Stone Oak Parkway and Canyon Golf Road.

Emergency personnel responded to the scene. The sheriff’s office said CPR was administered to the deputy.

The deputy’s pulse returned before he was transported to a nearby hospital in critical condition, BCSO said.

Deputies said the driver involved in the traffic stop did not have any effect on the sergeant’s medical emergency.

The reason for the traffic stop is not yet known. No other injuries were reported.
