This cannot be more crucial for an educator, as educators are responsible for the development of the next generation of thought leaders and responsible citizens of the world. The teaching portfolio is comprised of professional teaching experiences, reflections, strategies and data that ultimately culminate in a pedagogical statement. This statement guides the educator's professional approach and lasting impact on their particular field and, or level of education. Portfolios can be used as an "onboarding" tool or support for opportunities when seeking professional promotion.

It is crucial to be inclusive when teaching and to show love and respect for cultures as it is an integral part of humanity. Everyone should embrace and promote their culture in a safe environment. As teachers, we should not be conditioned to just teach students how to pass an exam; we should be able to prepare them to be accepting of others and raise their cultural capital, accept social responsibility and to become critical thinkers which will enable them to learn about others and foster relationships. In the UK, we are sometimes in a predicament as we are forced to share similar views or not able to share things if they do not align with theirs. This does not promote inclusivity and restricts students from gaining professional success.

You may teach all kinds of people and none of them should feel embarrassed, guilty or humiliated by your classes. Remember that setting boundaries and knowing what's right or wrong is absolutely different from judging another person based on opinion (or prejudice).

As a mathematics teacher and a coach for STEM programs, diversity holds a slightly different meaning for me. I have to make sure that girls feel safe in a space that seems to be dominated by male students. It is a conscious effort on my part to that effect. Being a part of STEM activities not only helps girls pursue something that could be of interest to them, but also benefits the boys as they learn to respect the diversity in the classroom. To recognise the diversity that may exist within your classroom, staffroom or school organisation as whole and be intentional in how we greet, talk and physically interact with one another. This is an intentional action and is constantly ongoing. The easiest way to gauge the effectiveness of being intentional in inculcating diversity and inclusion in your pedagogical approach is being consistently reflecting on the level of engagement in your classroom and the type of engagement, for example a loud and emotionally engaging argumentative conversation would not necessarily be a positive experience, even though all parties were involved.

In my experience, diversity and inclusion is something you teach or demonstrate inside and outside of the classroom. Don't forget that any inclusion and diversity speech o statement made in class loses its power and credibility if you cannot support it out of the class with your actions, speeches, approaches to people, etc. That being said, I frequently make very clear at any proper opportunity I have, that every human being, just because of that, has a dignity to be respected and every action should be addressed through nonmaleficence, beneficence, justice and respect. Other ways to communicate inclusion and diversity in classes is to avoid assumptions about someone sexual-orientation or talk about people and not about men or women.

Teaching materials need to be designed to be accessible to all students. Universal design for learning should be considered at the initial stages of any lesson planning as it's much easier to design for inclusion from the beginning than bolt on additional materials. You may need to make additional adjustments depending on your student intake but, if well enough designed, these should not involve huge amounts of extra work. Provide a variety of means of assessment so that all students have equity and can present their understanding to the best of their ability. Show a range of perspectives, encourage student feedback from all students and act upon it with an open mind.

Pay attention to the diversity of scholarship assigned in your syllabi. I think many history teachers do this for the primary sources we assign, but not as much when it comes to secondary sources. By recognising that diversity comes in many shapes and forms, but that textbooks usually don't! So, I've not asked my students to read textbooks for 20+ years and instead curate readings from across the web and from a wide variety of sources. I anticipate that some students will feel provoked, or annoyed, or delighted - with the same items - but that's part of the educational process. We don't have to agree with each other in order to respect each other. But there is no gold standard for D&I: it depends on the context, the students and the teacher.

É diferente uma criança que já sabe ler aumentar a sua velocidade leitora de uma criança que ainda lê apenas sílabas e de repente começa a ler palavras e frases, naturalmente a um ritmo muito menor. A avaliação deve ser justa e deve refletir não só o ponto de chegada mas também o ponto de partida e, acima de tudo, a evolução.

The first thing to do is to ask for a personal review from each student and what everyone wants to take out from this course. This will enable connect everyone to same spot. The use of visual aids, feedbacks and accepting questions at any time, can be helpful. These will facilitate learning across board.

In the context where I teach, I am very distinctly in the minority. Not just in terms of age, profile, but also ethnic background. Most of the students see me as a foreigner, even though I've lived in this place longer than they have. This opens up some interesting conversations about what it means to be local or foreign, to be inclusive or exclusive, to be diverse or not, and also whether diversity matters. In my classes, 98% of students come from just one ethnicity, so there is very little diversity indeed. Its quite hard to discuss diversity when there isn't any and for these students, the lack of diversity is entirely normal. I am the odd one out. The notion of inclusiveness is strange, yet also important and my presence stimulates.

Teaching diversity and inclusion(D/I) is good to have. What I have not seen in some of the businesses and school teaching D/I is about teaching responsibility as well. Hiring just for the sake of D/I mandate can be an accident waiting to happen. A person not qualified to do the job but meets the D/I mandate may result in a code written incorrectly, a project developed with issues, and ,more importantly, a tragic accident. Students should learn about being responsible and be the best they can be in the workforce for the position they are hired in.

Eu me lembro de um aluno que tinha dificuldade para ouvir, então ele costumava a falar muito alto na sala, os alunos não gostavam dele, mas eu era sempre atenta, sempre o colocava em posição de que ele podia fazer o que os outros faziam. Ele me adorava. Ele não podia me ver chegar à escola e começava a contar sobre as coisas que ele gostava. Infelizmente, eu o via sempre sozinho no intervalo das aulas. Acho que seria interessante fazer workshops e colocar os alunos que não têm deficiência a experimentar, por uma, como é ser cego, surdo, não ter uma perna... assim eles entenderiam o que essas crianças sentem, porque por fora parece que é tudo lindo, mas no coração delas deve ter muito sofrimento.
