If team is divided to defines success, I would make the manager responsible. Manager required to communicate articulately the purpose behind any activity. Following democratic steps can use / practice by managers. 1. Facilitate a discussion with team to understand each team member's perspective on what defines success. 2. Identify common goals, that everyone can work towards. 3. Set clear expectations, what success looks like for the team as a whole. 4. Provide constructive feedback to team members if struggles to meet performance expectations. 5. Encourage collaboration among team members to leverage each other's strengths. 6. Monitor progress & provide ongoing feedback to ensure the team is on track to achieve success.

Team divided over the definition of success is a sure formula for failure. This needs correction not the superficial one but the basics need to worked out again. I would take the entire team for a huddle and give them a download on organizations vision & goals. I will allow the team to brainstorm and arrive at a common understanding on team’s & their own success. This brainstorming will certainly bring an alignment. Goals must never be decided in isolation
