Things that have worked for me (acknowledged by my team): - We don't know what we don't know, so everyone should be enabled to put their thoughts on the table. Embracing diversity means you (and the team) listen without a bias. JUST HEAR THEM OUT! - It also ensures everyone is learning something new (people are introduced to a world they knew little to nothing about or had lot of misconceptions about) and are growing as an individual (professionally or personally). - One of the things that amplifies the effects of embracing diversity is - unbiased listening. This means, that team focuses very keenly on the point the team-mate is trying to make and understand that the idea needs to be challenged not the person proposing it.

Fail Forward is the best approach initally as it should help with removing the fear of failure within an enterprise wide context. Rewarding creativity is also important. You can not have Open dialogue, when individuals mock others, "Haha, your last idea was an absolute failure!". Also Continuous Learning occurs with Fail Forward, as with each failure, you learn why it was a failure and can now make better informed decisions about what next to try.

To spark innovation and creativity in your team, create an open environment where everyone feels safe sharing ideas and encourage regular brainstorming sessions. Invest in training and mentorship, and promote cross-functional collaboration for fresh perspectives. Set clear goals, give your team the freedom to make decisions, and use technology to streamline processes. Recognize and celebrate creativity, learning from successes and failures. Provide a flexible work environment to keep the team energized. Lead by example, stay curious, and always look for ways to improve. These steps will foster a dynamic and innovative team culture.

Here's what I have seen working first hand: - Don't speak when others are speaking. - Watch like a Hawk and appreciate the tiniest of the things that is going right. Appreciate their contribution (of any kind)! - If contribution is not aligned with the end goal, politely request for an alternative. - This usually makes the person feel incharge of the solution. - People usually own up the problem and drive the solution and solve all hurdles along the way. No supervision required! - Protect your team - Their success it theirs. Their failures are yours! - Letting people know that there is a room for them to fail and learn from unlocks more risk taking. These, I have noticed makes people bring their best self to work.

I think one of the most important is : Grant them freedom in their work, and ensure they receive support in case something goes wrong.

Open communication is the way. But often in "status report" style of communication, team members may conciously or otherwise lean towards presenting dressed-up information. This may hide or downplay uncomfortable truths. A leader will then miss those early warning signals. A safe space is essential for openness and will contribute to early, small / low-cost / effective course corrections.

Leaders should first ask for team members' ideas and input, listen patiently while they share them, acknowledge what has been then collectively discuss any next steps based on feedback or ideas. The key is to practice all four steps, consistently and without fail, which is rare. An open dialogue between management and staff involves an open and honest exchange of ideas and information between management and employees. This type of dialogue allows management to hear directly from employees about their concerns, ideas, and suggestions.

My team has educated me that the following worked for us - - Give them a problem (or a part of problem) that is ~40% in the known territory (for them) and rest is for them to figure. - Point them to potential resources (initial thoughts) and send them their way. - Appreciate any progress they make and specifically call out what you were amazed by. Knowing that they are helping make progress inspite of them not fully knowing (when they started off) makes people learn new things (even if they never intended to study that subject/field on their own) outside of their comfort zone. They grow and develop new super powers. People should feel they can tackle the problem. They usually take care of the hurdles that follow. Enable them, trust them!

Muchas veces me ha pasado que en la medida que pasa el tiempo y voy aprendiendo nuevas herramientas y/o tecnologías veo como pude haber hecho mejor las cosas en proyectos pasados o lo que ocurre cuando vemos código creado cuando estabamos iniciando nuestra carrera versus el creado cuando llevamos varios cicatricez en el cuerpo. Por lo anterior, creo que es fundamental el mantenerse actualizado en las nuevas tendencias, para poder entregar las mejores soluciones a nuestros clientes aprovechando al máximo las opciones que están disponible y poder otorgarles ventajas en sus respectivos mercados.

O mestre de hoje um dia já foi aprendiz - e o aprendiz um dia se tornará mestre. E o bom mestre sempre dirá: continuo aprendendo todo dia!

I suggest my team to upskill the emerging technologies like Gen AI / Data Engineering etc.. because the technology keeps evolving in every decade hence we have to update our self with new technologies. Once started to upskill parallelly do the lab exercise in order to get hands on experience in the same technology.

Continuous learning is the process of constantly acquiring new knowledge, skills, and insights throughout one's life. It involves actively seeking out opportunities to learn and grow, whether through formal education, training programs, workshops, or self-study.

Letting people know that failing is allowed takes the burden off of them, enabling them to try things they would have otherwise not tried due to the fear of failure. Blameless postmortems are my favourite. Point at the problem never the person! The attitude should be - Fail fast succeed sooner. Try all the experiments soon and learn from whatever the outcome is. Repeat what worked and modify what didn't...

I think, without a doubt... From 3 years of experience with hardware and software, one strong learning is that hardware and software doesn't bite us. Try as much as you can. Even if something is working, try looking it from different perspectives. Not sure why people call things as failure. I assume there is a task that I need to complete which may take multiple iterations. Just by having a methodological approach for iterations will ultimately complete that goal.

"Fail forward" is my favorite. Of course this assumes that a team is willing to try a path (or at least a step) which has some level of risk. A recent project involved making rapid updates to a hardware device register from userspace (yes!) while running on Linux. A suitable library provided some "abstractions" (read "comfort") but the timing failed, due to 1) Linux non-determinism itself (which we could contain to some extent) and later 2) the delays in percolating through API layers to get to the actual write to the peripheral register. How to speed that up with anything simple and incremental? Then I remembered the magical device "/dev/mem" -- just open, grab a pointer to the correct offset and write away! Lesson: Failure teaches!

Tenho mais de 20 anos escrevendo artigos especializados sobre o que gosto, e cada novo artigo é um desafio. Muitas linhas acabam "fracassando" e ficando pra trás, mas elas são muito importantes no processo. Sem elas, o texto resultante não seria o meu melhor!

En mi experiencia cuando podemos experimentar de manera segura, sin miedo a equivocarnos, proponemos soluciones más atretivas e intrepidas, innovamos mucho más, que cuando no contamos con ese entorno solemos jugar a lo seguro. Dicho lo anterior no debemos caer en ser descuidados, no podemos obviar temas de seguridad o irespetar ciertos estándares o lineamientos por el solo hecho de hacerlo.

Yo no lo restringiría solo a la creatividad, soy un convencido de que quienes trabajan bien deben ser recompensados y valorados por ello. En esa línea, el reconocimiento debe estar contemplado como un hito relevante dentro de la planificación del año y darle la seriedad que se merece. Tampoco es bueno celebrar todo, he visto equipos que lo hacen y se corre el riesgo de quitarle valor al reconocimiento mismo, se imaginan en las olimpiadas que a todos les den medallas de oro? no tendría sentido.

Nobody has a monopoly on creativity, and least so a leader him/herself. Recognizing creative efforts in all helps to get the energy flowing back and forth and raises the level of the whole team. In my experience those never-ending "why don't we do it by.." questions are a good sign that things are working well for creativity in a team. While a leader needs to synthesize, balance and filter creative ideas, acknowledging the small and the big bits is essential to keep the energy flowing.

My perception in a team each and every achievement done by the team just keep encourage them by providing certification, coupons and other stuff. Meantime you can share your upcoming goals in future for sure it would give lot of confidence to the resources.

As per my experience-Empowering teams members, motivating them to share ideas and thoughts, fostering collaboration amongst team members and lead by examples are some of the very important strategies to create a conducive environment where innovation and creativity thrive, ultimately leading to improved team performance and impactful outcomes.

All of the provided points are great already. Here are a two things that we do in our team: * Weekly/Montly Crazy Idea Hour: We discuss over some crazy ideas and why or why not they can be implemented. We then divide it into small Proof of Concepts and tey to solve sub set of the problem. Sometimes reducing a complex problem to some other domains also helps. There are a lot of thinking/ideation frameworks that can also help in finding the innovative solutions to the problems. * A lot of hit and trial, A lot of experiments: We try to create and iterate over 100 pots instead of creating 1 perfect pot.
