Galgar uma posição deste porte, exige uma combinação de vários fatores, tais como experiência profissional que inclui ter experiências em diversas áreas de negócios, networking, habilidades de liderança como comunicação e ser capaz de tomar decisões, aprender a aceitar desafios, resiliência e adaptabilidade, entre outros. Analysing and work more strategically with own network it crucial in my option for progressing to a more high impact roles. Look at your Operational, Personal and Strategic network, and identify key people that you can help/support and which can advocate on your behalf. This is oss a give and take, which should become a part of day-to-day work

You should get recognized for your special skills in team building, problem solving, and providing leadership support to team members. One of the greatest skill that you will need to learn on the way up to becoming an area Director, is to be able to harmonize the vertical and horizontal forces in the area of your work. The vertical forces originate at the HQ as those of strategic intents, quality culture, standardization of processes, business Performance and the likes. The horizontal forces are the area based resources that are responsible for execution. The area manager shall be able to alingn these forces

Do your research and personalise any contact wherever possible. If the organisation is a sport teams, then comment on recent performance, if they are a finance house, then make a comment about the current market in their sector. In other words, be human and make your interaction pleasurable and memorable, but without going over the top! 😉

In my experience and sector, it is important to diversify experience in roles that do provide leadership opportunities, even if of lower spectrum (or wider as it may be) first, in the field. The perspectives gained are key. Then leveraging this experience, looking at the synergy in knowledge and skills with or relevance to the Director 'of Area' role targeted, inform relevant others of your interest and ambition. The above together with a Leadership course or coach (or Mentor) will be very helpful in the journey towards success, aided by a bit of luck -- being the right person at the right place & right time.
