1. Enforce Multi Factor Authentication in your system. 2. Provide least access to any user. Avoid any sysadmin/database owner access. 3. Encryption at rest. 4. Don't use default port number instead use custom port number and Disabled the SQL Server Browser services. 5. Your organization should use strong Group polcies at the OS level and Any group policiies which would remove any unneccessary local admin accounts. 6. If Databases are at Cloud, SG level and NACL should block most of the ports until we need that. 7. Monitor and Audit Database Activities. 8. Regularly backup the database. 9. Regular Security Assessments 10. There should be a stringent Audit process.
