For effective teaching or mentorship trust is the most important factor. A mentor & mentee should be able to know & respect each other for the process to be fruitful. A mentor will not put extra effort if they do not trust in the effort and intention of the mentee. In the same way a mentee will not follow the guidance if they don't trust the knowledge and capability of the mentor.

Respect, integrity, honesty-all cornerstones in my classroom. If a student asks me a question and I don’t know the answer, I tell them “I don’t know so let’s find out together!” And most importantly, I do whatever needs to be done to find the supports my students need-no one gets left behind.

Taking the time to learn about your students and to share in their experiences pays huge dividends with reluctant learners. Oftentimes, the students who slip through the cracks do so because they don't feel like they belong in the classroom. Simply telling them that you want them to be successful in the class helps to break down reluctance and build confidence. It doesn't need to be anything more than consistent positive (authentic) messaging. Give them a reason to care!

Giving students multiple ways to interact with lessons has been beneficial in my classroom. I provide visual aids, guided notes, and videos to aid students. They then have a choice of how they engage.

One innovative practice is to apply the ‘Escape Room’ scenario to teaching sessions. The necessity of teamwork and different skill sets required to solve a diversity of subject-specific puzzles gives everyone a chance to contribute and be part of the success. A fun way to learn!

As avaliações de aprendizagem dos educandos com necessidades educacionais especiais precisam ser adequadas à eles, e não vice versa; não é o aluno que precisa se adequar à escola, mas o contrário. Permanecer com uma escuta ativa com esses alunos, pais e responsáveis é o melhor caminho para conseguirmos adotar maneiras eficazes de avaliação, de preferência contínua em todo o processo de sua aprendizagem no ambiente escolar. Na matemática, o uso de material didático concreto se faz necessário, podendo ser manuseado, sendo imprescindível para os alunos visuais (que aprendem visualizando), enquanto outros aprendem melhor através da manipulação física.

One thing I've found helpful when teaching non-native English speaking/reading students is to use the PowerPoint software with Spanish translations which scroll across the top of the page. When I first began teaching students World Literature and British Literature, I didn't know how to help students that don't understand English. For documents, google translate works great; but when I am teaching or giving information aloud, these students didn't understand at all. A colleague showed me how to use PowerPoint to translate what I said. I set up the slide show to translate in Spanish, and as I spoke in English, the Spanish translation appeared on the classroom tv.

Many of our more talkative students benefit greatly from multiple opportunities to verbally process our content before being asked to demonstrate writing skills using the content. The more that lessons routinely use dialogue, the more confident students will be in trying on new learning in more structured settings. Incentivize positive discourse through modeling, and appointing a moderator for the lesson. Students are way more receptive to following class rules and norms when they are held accountable by each other.

It is very important to promote discussions in class about themes that have to be completely understood among pupils . The discussions with the intervention of a teacher as moderator will allow to better understand and stimulate those who have doubts and are not commonly asking about them.

This past school year I implemented student opportunities for self-reflection. I found that the more I can give them ownership of their learning, the more engaged they become. Many of my tests are standards-based. When an assessment is given, the reflection piece afterward has become a necessary step for informing my future teaching lessons. I handout an assessment reflection survey. Students look at what they answered correctly and incorrectly. With each incorrect answer, I give them the correct answer, and they explain why that one is correct. Students write down the strategies they used and the ones they could use to do better. I usually add thoughtful reflection responses as extra points on the assessment they completed.

Os meios digitais aplicados à educação, utilizados de maneira a ser eficazes para esse público, traz benefícios a curto e longo prazo, como exemplo as tecnologias assistivas como: realidade aumentada, teclados adaptados, software para transcrição de vídeos em Libras, leitores de telas, etc. Esses são apenas alguns exemplos de como as tecnologias digitais podem e devem ser incluídas na educação, gerando adaptação e inclusão dos mais variados públicos que recebemos em nossas escolas.

Some of the things I consider are: - Does the curriculum include achievements and/or contexts of the community in the classroom? - Does the curriculum link concepts across communities, showing origins of ideas, make connections and show how and when concepts have been adapted and why. - importantly, does the language and resource used to deliver the curriculum show that you the educator place value and respect the content - How does the learning space demonstrate value in all the aspects of the curriculum? - who are you taking a lead from? Who are the most appropriate thought leaders in your education space to follow and support? - reflect - revisit - relearn and tackle your own preconceptions even on matters you feel knowledgeable.

I think personalization is one of the most succesful ways of teaching when we have a student with different capabilities. Nevertheless, it is sometimes hard to carry out because we have more than 15 students per class. Thus, in my experience, visual aids and shorter activities had helped me to engage my special learners.
