There’s an old saying in data science to the effect that there are no perfect (error free) models, just useful ones. It’s a mistake to see data science as a deterministic enterprise whereby following a recipe produces a repeatable dish. Data science is not physics nor is it chemistry, despite its principles being used in both physical sciences. Data science is a highly probablistic effort that would be better understood as such if it had originated in the biological sciences versus the physical ones. Net / net — DS is a method of learning. Err, you learn. Get it “right,” and all you discover is what you left out. Again, it’s all useful.

Mistakes are something that turn you perfect. As a newbie to data science, I even made a mistake during my project . It's not necessary that everything has to be perfect at one strike. Take help , seek opinions from you friends , mentors and other higher people when you are learning. Even a mistake is made , acknowledgement them . Make a mistake but never repeat them . That's how we must be learning. In simple way , when your mom denies you on doing something yet you do it she may hit you so you won't do it again as you know the consequences. Same way understand why it's a MISTAKE.

Be transparent about the failure to the team. Identify if it's a skill gap or at what stage the failure should have been identified. Measure the impact on the previous result and implement changes that could better it. Share all this to the team while you keep documenting it to have a review pipeline for such an approach in the future. Be open to have an iterative version of this document to enrich it with learnings and best measures.
