When I evaluate a candidate for an internship, the portfolio is the last think I look at, they all look more or less the same as shaped by the way education conditions them. I am way more interested about, understanding the motivations, aspirations and openness towards learning! This industry is brutal and the first thing you have to learn is dealing with having (what you think is your best project yet) shredded to pieces … to overcome that, is the first lesson you have to learn to grow, and not many people out of unit are very open to that!

Your portfolio should tell a story. Don’t Worry about trends etc… Be yourself and use your own creativity. Don’t try to impress everyone, it never works!

Engage in discussions, share your work, and express your interest in remote internships. Personalize your outreach messages to show genuine interest and avoid generic requests. A referral or recommendation from a connection can significantly boost your chances of securing an internship.
