What do you do if your mobile communication career is hindered by resistance to innovation?

Based on my last ~7 years of leading corporate innovation, I’ll advise to apply first principles lens to the latest trends and technologies in your industry. Just quoting what’s hot to support your argument of change may look shallow and won’t give you many supporters. However, first principle thinking is hard. It requires you to have a beginners’s mindset and look for learning opportunities all the time and to continue to adjust your positioning based on your new knowledge and learnings. Road to innovation starts from you.

I don’t think it is an option to not embrace change. The trick is how to gather the coalition of the like-minded. No one play will help you achieve that. It will be a mix of stakeholder engagement, small proof of concept successes, and most importantly timing. Windows of opportunity are always small in the corporate world and even smaller when innovating. One has to be poised to take advantage when one opens.

Mobile communication is all based on innovation or technologies. Equipment's are getting updated and so are the people to operate them. Failure to accept this transition, will leave us out of the race. Embracing change is indispensable. In order to go with the flow and to keep our value alive, we need to adopt strategy of Learn, Unlearn and Relearn. Failure to do this, will not only be a hinderance in career growth, but it can also be the end of our career. Monitor new trends and technologies across the globe. Study and discuss them. Think of the ways for transformation. Foresee at least next 5 years and make your self updated for that. Be like Plug and Play. :)

Today's professionals need to be able to embrace change, look out for the signs of having their "roots too deep on the ground" and loose perspective. Every career nowadays, challenge us to be constantly in "adaptive mode", maintaining awareness of us and our surroundings, so that we are able to identify when we became too dependent on the way we always did things. The world and our careers are changing in a fast pace, and it forces us to be constantly adapting to different realities, reinventing ourselves recurrently. We need to enhance the ability to change, reinventing the way we do our work, to prevent us from becoming outdated with the reality around us. Because realities are changing, whether we like it or not.

Read books, papers and articles on Mobile related matters. This will ignite the thought process and new innovative ideas will be generated
