Aboca Edizioni was created to inspire thought on topics such as health, the common good, sustainability, farming, new business and development models, science, human rights, as well as art and literature. We have published 183 titles in the last year alone. With contributions from scientists, storytellers and great contemporary thinkers, Aboca has picked out some of the best insights to offer a clear vision of the present, the changes taking place and what the future holds. Because engaging in culture is also a form of research. And because culture is another way of taking care of others.

The scent of wood and ancient texts, steeped in knowledge and information on the use of medicinal plants for health. We are inside Aboca's Bibliotheca Antiqua, the very heart of our historical research. Over 3,000 volumes are preserved here. A team of scholars explores their contents and gathers useful information for the development of new products. Traditional knowledge is then put under the lens of modern science and innovation in order to verify and develop these ideas. It is precisely from the information contained in a text dating back to 1650, for example, that our honey-based micro-enemas were developed.

Water is a precious commodity for all of us. It will become even more so in the coming years amid the climate crisis. That is why at Aboca, we have long taken measures to use water supplies more efficiently and responsibly during the production process. Thanks to the investment choices made, if in 2019 4.5 litres of water were needed to generate 1 euro of turnover, in 2022 we are down to 3.9 litres. It is a concrete example of how it is possible to combine economic growth and respect for the environment.   👉 https://lnkd.in/dQyHi-km

Through the coldest months of the year, our crops are transformed, turning colours that are muted and delicate. This is the moment of dormancy and rest, when nature silently prepares to come back into its full splendour. Even in these periods, we work to nurture the fertility of our soil. We do this through techniques like green manure, which involves growing particular species of plants, such as fennel and mustard, that are then mulched and dug into the ground in the spring to nourish the soil. In this way we make the soil more fertile without using fertilisers, in anticipation of the crops to come.

Universities, institutes and research centres, laboratories, hospitals, consulting firms, professionals - For us, doing research also means engaging in collaborations with different organisations. In the last year there have been 60. That's because we believe the only way to truly grow is by being open to dialogue, and doing so with humility.

At Aboca, our passion for investigating the relationship between humans and nature is so great that in 2002 we created a museum space entirely dedicated to this topic:Aboca Museum. Inside the museum there is also a Study Centre, which is active in historical research and in the advancement and promotion of botanical knowledge through exhibitions, conferences, publications and publishing events. Have you ever visited Aboca Museum? It is located in Sansepolcro (Arezzo), Italy.

The bottom line for a company is crucial, but equally important are the reputational goals we achieve.   Which is why the Merco 2022 ranking, which monitors corporate reputation in 15 countries around the world, is an extraordinary accolade for us. Aboca was the top Italian company in terms of reputation in the pharmaceutical sector and among the top 100 companies in Italy.

Building the future while protecting the environment. This principle always inspires the construction of our operating facilities. This was also the case for Aboca's new agricultural centre, which is about to be opened in Gricignano in Sansepolcro (Arezzo). An area of over 43,000 square metres that will provide space for 30 ovens to dry up to 150,000 kilos of fresh herbs. The construction project involved the reclamation of a vast brownfield site. Over 11 thousand cubic metres of an old factory were selectively demolished and the aggregate material was recovered and reused for the new facilities. Because for us, sustainability means substance.
