Today, in partnership with the premier Methodist Health System, Acadia Healthcare proudly celebrated the groundbreaking of our new, joint venture behavioral health hospital in Council Bluffs, Iowa. A state-of-the-art, 96-bed facility, Methodist Jennie Edmundson Hospital will open in 2026 and enable our clinicians to fill a meaningful gap in care for western Iowa and eastern Nebraska residents. It is the 22nd hospital we’ve opened with 21 joint venture partners and continues our commitment to expand access to care for high-acuity and complex needs patients. https://lnkd.in/gAVU32dR

According to The Trevor Project's 2023 U.S. National Survey on the Mental Health of LGBTQ+ Young People, 41% of LGBTQ+ young people considered suicide. We hosted a conversation with Acadia Healthcare Leaders Peter Pennington, LPC, Rachel Legend and Mark Palmenter who reflected on the unique mental health challenges faced by the LGBTQ+ community and shared perspectives on the importance of a culture where everyone can bring their authentic self to work.

As many as 9 in 10 people with substance use disorders do not seek treatment. To close this critical gap, we must address stigma and change perceptions of the disease. At the recent Behavioral Health Business Autism and Addiction Treatment Forum, Acadia’s COO Nasser Khan, MD offered his thoughts on how to change this statistic and highlighted what we are doing to lead the way. Today, National Hire a Veteran Day, we want to highlight Acadia’s own William Reynolds, PA-C (Psychiatry CAQ), who is not only a Veteran, but is doing his part to help drive quality, specialized, effective care for this critical population at Sierra Tucson.
