The Afghan American Foundation (AAF) is a non-profit, non-partisan institution representing and advancing the interests of Afghan-American communities focused on civic, cultural, economic, and policy issues amongst the American public, policymakers and opinion shapers. This mission is pursued through sustained engagement in the following areas: Fostering strong civic and political participation of Afghan-American communities in the democratic process; supporting advocacy initiatives directed towards policymakers at the local, state, and federal levels; Supporting objective research, reporting, and analysis on issues of interest to Afghan-American communities; Creating bridge-building platforms and avenues of collaboration for Afghan-American organizations and their counterparts in Afghanistan; Strengthening the United States-Afghanistan bilateral relationship through cultural, social, and economic engagements

Our community continues to grow in its influence and impact. We’re pleased to share that AAF Board Chair Joseph M. Azam was recently appointed by the President of the American Bar Association as a Commissioner on the ABA’s influential Immigration Commission. The Commission works to coordinate and strengthen the ABA’s response to legal developments impacting immigrants and newcomers. It also plays a powerful role in providing guidance and conducting impactful advocacy on today’s most pressing immigration issues. We also congratulate Afghan-American immigration lawyer Spojmie Nasiri for her appointment on the Commission this year.
