Since 2020, there has been significant effort sector wide to prioritize diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) in nonprofit fundraising. Despite these various initiatives, it remains a challenge for many organizations to translate their stated DEI values into actionable and sustainable fundraising strategies. The bad news: DEI alone won't save us – it will not improve the culture of your organization, diversify your board of directors and donor pipeline, or result in more inclusive communications. But hope is not lost. The good news: DEI is a starting point to disrupt traditional philanthropy by embedding accountability, shifting power, and building community.
