Interesting news! Chick-Fil-A is launching a streaming service and will pay up to $400,000 per half hour for unscripted stories! "We hear that this includes a family-friendly gameshow from Glassman Media, the company behind NBC’s The Wall, and Michael Sugar’s Sugar23, which is behind series such as Netflix’s 13 Reasons Why. Deadline understands this show has been handed a ten-episode order. Budgets on the unscripted side are believed to be in the range of $400,000 per half-hour. 04/12/24: Reel Sisters Celebrates Women in Hip Hop & AV @50 Issue Come out to the Riverside Theater (91 Claremont Avenue @ 121 St.) on Friday, April 12 for an evening of readings and episode screening of Ladies First: A Story of Women in Hip Hop, a Netflix docuseries honoring the powerful women of hip hop music and culture. CR Capers, founder of Harlem Film House & the Hip Hop Film Festival, will lead a discussion with Crystal Whaley, co-executive producer of episode 4 of Ladies First, DJ Franchella, Liza Jessie Peterson, director/writer of Black Love Manifesto, and Evangeline Lawson, photographer and front cover artists of African Voices’ Hip Hop @50th Issue. Special thanks to David Bayne and his family for being one of the first AV Family Members to kick off our membership campaign very early on in December 2023 (before we formally announced our campaign). A plaque dedicated to his mom in honor of his family's first donation hangs in our gallery reminding us of the power of community to realize dreams collectively. We just moved into our new space in Clinton Hill in 2019 and had few resources to install a floor to cover up the ugly cement floor. David and his family responded and donated the attractive floor that adds warmth to our pop up gallery space. Faith and community have given us permission to persevere for 32 years.
