Founded in 1887, the Washington Chapter of the American Institute of Architects serves the Nation's Capital, functioning as both the "local" and "state" component of the AIA for the District of Columbia. The Chapter was intimately involved in the design and planning of Washington, and continues to play an active role in city development today. AIA|DC is housed in the District Architecture Center (DAC), in the heart of DC’s bustling Penn Quarter District. DAC is where architecture meets the city. If you enjoy architecture, DAC is the place for you. DAC houses the Washington Chapter of the American Institute of Architects and the Washington Architectural Foundation.

Help us get the Good Samaritan Law on the books! Encourage your councilmember to call for a hearing.
We've been asking AIA|DC members you live in DC to send emails to Brooke Pinto to encourage her committee to get a hearing set for The Good Samaritan Law B25-0423. So far I have seen 15 emails cross my desk. Hoping for even more! When disasters occur, architects and engineers can play a critical role in ensuring the public safety and well-being of the affected communities. However, the lack of Good Samaritan Laws in the DC exposes these qualified professionals to potential civil liability, discouraging their ability to offer services during such critical times. DC is one of very few states that does not have a Good Samaritan Law. This legislation will provide necessary legal protections, encouraging more professionals to volunteer their expertise in emergencies.
Summer Camp is in full swing!

Want to design, build, AND raise awareness for hunger? Learn more at today's virtual CANstruction kickoff meeting, 12-1PM. Register at the link in bio. CANstruction is a nationwide program that aims to raise awareness about hunger. In DC, CANstruction is organized by the Washington Architectural Foundation as a creative design-build competition that benefits the Capital Area Food Bank through donations of canned goods. Teams from architecture and design firms from Washington, DC use their skills to build sculptures out of cans of food which are displayed for a week in the Great Hall of the National Building Museum. The nutritious shelf-stable food is donated to the CAFB for distribution to those in need after the event. This program is generously sponsored by BluEdge, Capital Area Food Bank, DC Commission on the Arts & Humanities, Giant, National Building Museum, TW Perry, and Washington Architectural Foundation.
