I’m honored now to be the Program Director for the Residency in Aerospace Medicine, where we train the best-of-the-best Flight Surgeons to take on the mantle of leadership in that discipline for the USAF and the USSF. Our residents go through flight training, work with industry experts military and civilian, perform site visits at the FAA and NASA, and pursue operational rotations and electives to learn and hone their knowledge. They go on to ensure that the risks taken through human systems interfaces and the stressors of flight here and beyond orbit are mitigated for the most important DAF asset: its people.
