For many years, vocations and skilled trades have been struggling to fill open positions. Recent trends may indicate a little relief in that segment of the labor market with the emergence of the "Toolbelt" generation. Time will tell if these positive trends will continue or plateau. https://lnkd.in/gR8UhRJV

To really get at the heart of an interview, it's important to incorporate success measures into the conversation. Be specific and bring the annual performance review forward. Hiring a Recruiter? "Tell me about a time you reduced time to fill from 45 days to 40 days?" Hiring a Facilities Manager? "Discuss how you would reduced spend on external contractors for maintenance by 5% in this role." Of course follow up with probes, clarifying questions, and work back through their history at previous employers achieving similar goals. https://lnkd.in/gfe2NsgJ
