Networking With a Charitable Purpose

Über uns

In 2016 in the back of an Uber in NYC I was thinking out loud to friend. I am fortunate to have several successful women in my life who have supported me through the illness and subsequent death of my father. All these women were important to me, but none of them knew each other. I knew introducing them to each other would be beneficial for all their businesses (once a recruiter always a recruiter) – that morphed into a networking event. BUT – I wanted to network with a greater purpose. I wanted to create a new, unique way for successful women to network while giving back, and the Alliance of Women Executives (AWE) was formed. The mission of the Alliance of Women Executives (AWE) is to bring like-minded women together to share business experience and knowledge as well as promote higher education for the next generation of women through academic scholarships. AWE is the realization of a vision to connect women in a meaningful way while making an impact on future generations. We do this by offering $1500 scholarships & a new laptop to young women who continue their education locally. The members of AWE meet monthly to network & also monthly for lunch. Lunchtime networking is a time for members to get to know one another on a more personal level & explore common interests while turning professional acquaintances into friendships. The relationships formed combined with our philanthropic vision are what makes AWE & our scholarship program succeed. The Alliance of Women Executives scholarships are designed to support young women who live in and choose to or need to stay in Palm Beach County to attend college. As executive women who live in the Palm Beaches, we believe it is our duty to support the next generation of women. Through higher education students learn skills that stay with them throughout their lives, thus enabling them to soar. We are proud to assist these young women as they invest in their future through education.

The Alliance of Women Executives (AWE) is proud to receive top rated status through greatnonprofits.org for the 5th consecutive year. Below is one of the reviews we've received. At AWE, we harness the collective experience and influence of established executive women to make a meaningful impact on the educational journey of young women. Our primary focus is to provide academic scholarships and open doors to opportunities that might otherwise be out of reach. By addressing the barriers that can hinder access to higher education, we enable these promising young women to pursue their dreams and realize their full potential. In a region like Palm Beach County, where the landscape of opportunities can be both diverse and competitive, AWE plays an invaluable role. By investing in the education and future of young women, we are not just providing scholarships; we are making a tangible difference in their lives and contributing to a more equitable future. The Alliance of Women Executives is more than just an organization; it is a movement dedicated to shaping the future of women in leadership. I am incredibly proud of what we have accomplished and excited about the impact we will continue to make. #AWE #membershipmatters #awestrong #awecares

Each entry is written by the recipient, offering a glimpse into  their unique perspective and experiences. Today meet Sophia who will be attending Schmidt College of Medicine at Florida Atlantic University My name is Sophia and I have been born and raised in Wellington, Florida. My nuclear family consists of my father, mother, sister and three cats. My main interests are finding and trying new things. I love to travel, cook, go outdoors and hang out with my friends. I also love participating in school competitions and am known for being in almost every club. I have attended FAU High School for all four years of my high school education and have fallen in love with the FAU Honors campus. I have been in research and have gotten to know a lot of the professors and students. I cannot wait to finish my Bachelor’s degree in this environment that I love. I chose to study Neuroscience because of my interest in medicine and fascination with the brain. After seeing all of the cool research in Neuroscience, especially my work with addiction, I knew I had to keep going. The AWE scholarship offers me the opportunity to continue this pursuit of knowledge. Being connected with other strong female leaders will help me to expand my perspective and maybe even gain some new interests to try out. Each entry is written by the recipient, offering a glimpse into  their unique perspective and experiences. Today meet Paola who will be attending Palm Beach State College and majoring in Environmental Science Growing up in an immigrant family I've learned the value of education and community from my older sister who’s tried to guide me through academic challenges. Inspired by her and the women in my life, I found a passion for environmental advocacy. My background drives my decision to pursue environmental science. I want to make a difference in preserving our planet and serve as a role model for women in my community. During my time at Pahokee High, I've been an active member in my community through cultural exchange programs such as the Spanish Honor Society; I'm deeply engaged in my church's chorus and dedicate my free time to assisting teachers at my local elementary school. I’ve also shown commitment to environmental advocacy through my involvement in FAU’s Climate Ready program which holds a big part in inspiring mymajor. The AWE scholarship relieves financial pressure for me and my family and it allows me to focus on mystudies. It's a crucial support as I embark on my college journey and will allow me to continue my goal of environmental advocacy within my community. Each entry is written by the recipient, offering a glimpse into their unique perspective and experiences. Today meet Natalie who will be attending Florida Atlantic University and majoring in Pre business with a concentration in Hospitality & Tourism Management. Hello!  My name is Natalie, I have been homeschooled since kindergarten and am so grateful to my parents (mostly to my mom, who did the teaching!) for giving me the most amazing education any kid could hope for.  In my free time at home I can be found reading my Bible, crocheting gifts for friends, cooking and baking for my family, working on badges for American Heritage Girls, playing hymns on the piano or listening to country music.  I am a South Florida native who loves everything to do with our wonderful state.  Whenever I can, I love to spend time outdoors fishing in both salt and fresh water, going to the beach with friends and family, enjoying the beautiful Florida weather on a walk with my two dogs, camping in Sebring with my church each November and playing pickleball with my amazing sister Jillian. In the fall I will be attending FAU – Pre business with a concentration in Hospitality & Tourism Management. The Alliance of Women Executives scholarship will help me offset college expenses.  Thank you very much!
