    💥 Intensity!! My face isn’t showing it, but I’m having a BLAST in this picture. In my defense, it was an unexpected action shot. I was facilitating a session with 70 leaders related to the launch of an upgraded Management Operating System (MOS). These are some of my FAVORITE projects because they have such a radical impact on productivity and culture. 🚀 Kudos to Alex Heiman and the senior leadership team at Standard Textile for diving in, owning it, and making a huge impact on their organization. A management operating system is a set of structured processes, tools, and methodologies designed to facilitate effective and efficient management within an organization. It provides a framework for leaders to plan, communicate, execute, monitor, and improve all aspects of the business. Would you describe your MOS as clear, consistent, and effective? If yes, you are in the fortunate minority. Way to go! If not, you are likely having a hard time realizing the full potential of your business.     "How do I know if they will be able to perform consistently?" A new leader asked me this a few years ago. This quick performance check is the result of that work with Triage Staffing | Healthcare Staffing and that amazing leader Ashley Watts. (ps. she's a rock star 🌟 leader) "CCME" as it has come to be known, is a very quick and very effective check-in tool to assess an individual's performance challenges and opportunities. I teach it and use it all the time. If you didn't catch it already, each of these components impacts the others. For example, capacity will increase as any of the others increase. 🙌 The same direct relationship applies in painful ways. If we overload people, or don't enable them to be successful, their motivation to perform will eventually decrease. 👎 Oh yeah, character is at the center because I view that as table stakes and non-negotiable.     I caught up with a former client today. Talking with him reminded me of his organization's commitment to developing young leaders. Every two weeks for 3 years ( ❗ ), I provided 30-minute coaching sessions with each of their 12 or so first time leaders. I did not replace their direct manager's role. This was ADDITIONAL investment in their growth and success. This commitment, and many other wise choices, paid off. They tripled revenue in 5 years and had a very successful exit not long after. One of my favorite personal priority checks: look at your calendar and your checkbook to see what matters most to you. That client spent time and money in the right places. Oh yeah, this picture is from a company trip they took to celebrate one of their many good years. It was tough, but I had to join them 🏝 .     I took this picture on a recent Monday morning around 11am. Yes, it is Pennsylvania Avenue and no, it was not a federal holiday. Yet, it was eerily quiet. There is plenty of talk about hybrid work schedules, and I don’t have any new wisdom about which model is best. The answer is, it depends. This picture does inspire me to share my thoughts around the critical mindset executive teams must have when considering work models…being reactive is not an option if you want to be competitive! 👎 Deciding upon your organization’s ways of working, office policies, collaboration systems, use of meetings etc., must be given the same strategic horsepower as things like revenue growth, product development, and M&A. Your decisions on ways of working must intentionally serve your strategic vision and long-range goals. If you don’t design these PROACTIVELY to enable your strategy, you will be fighting against yourself and may not realize where the pain is coming from. For example, regrettable turnover and inability to execute on key projects are common symptoms of misaligned ways of working. My advice: spend meaningful time in your next planning session thinking about your 5 or 10-year vision and ask if your ways of working are designed to support it. What has to change now, and what will have to be different to succeed beyond that point? #waysofworking #strategicplan #altaimpact

    I've given this talk a few times recently; how to increase your influence across an organization, especially when you don't have authority. Cross collaboration seems to be getting more difficult, especially in largely virtual environments. Think about an internal service organization like IT or HR. They are trying to serve and also need their internal clients to do what they ask sometimes. How do you earn influence? 🔅 relationship - the people you want to influence will lean in as much as they know you, your intentions, and that you are worthy of their trust 🔅 competency - be sharp, consistent, professional, and reliable 🔅 priority alignment - relationship and competency can help offset priority misalignment when it comes to influence, but work life is a whole lot easier when everyone understands, and is aligned to, the organization's priorities and values Executive leaders, are you seeing collaboration challenges amongst your teams? Find the gaps in relationship, competency, and/or alignment. #influence #altaimpact #leadership

    I returned recently from a trip to India where I was working with some dear colleagues at #centricindia. Congratulations Anirudh Kejriwal Brian Offenbacher and Rohit Gambhir for building such a fantastic team. The team engagement sessions with the business unit leads, leadership team and extended leadership team were energizing and inspiring. This team has some of the highest levels of #trust, #clarity, and #alignment I've seen in a rapidly growing organization. The other best parts of the trip were the Diwali party, seeing the Taj Mahal, and getting a comprehensive understanding of how cricket is played. I am now a fan of team India who are hosting the 2023 Cricket World Cup. I am so thankful for the chance to see the world while spending time with amazing people who care a ton about one another and their clients. #centricconsulting #altaimpact #strategy #engagement #team #leadership
