ADHA Professional Fellow Kate Machado, RDH, BS, MEd, FADHA, is in the ADHA Member Spotlight! A dedicated and passionate dental hygienist, Kate has been an active member of the ADHA for nearly 10 years. Committed to her own professional growth, Kate is a big ADHA Annual Conference fan, is involved in a number of ADHA programs, belongs to the inaugural 2023 Class of ADHA Fellows and was even featured in an FADHA ad! 👀 Kate’s multifaceted career includes roles as a clinician, instructor, writer, advocate, mentor and lifelong learner. A graduate from the dental hygiene program at Bristol Community College in Massachusetts, Kate now teaches at that very same program. She is passionate about patient education, emphasizing the importance of oral-systemic health relationships and providing personalized care recommendations. She has a strong belief in the value of dental hygienists as oral health prevention specialists and aspires to make a broader impact on the profession by creating and planning continuing education events on a larger scale. 🦷 Meet Heather Beavers, RDH, BAS, today's Member Spotlight and an inspiring dental hygienist who's making waves in our profession. For nearly 20 years, Heather has been a dedicated ADHA member, tirelessly working to improve oral health in her community and beyond. As a Dental Hygienist Liaison (DHL) for the National Center on Health, Behavioral Health and Safety, she's bridging the gap between healthcare organizations and Head Start programs, ensuring better oral health for children and pregnant women. Heather's leadership shines through her roles in various dental health associations and committees. She's also making a difference in education as an advisory board member for Lansing Community College's Dental Hygiene Program. One of Heather's most impactful experiences was working with the Michigan Migrant Child Task Force. This eye-opening initiative connected migrant workers with vital oral health resources, highlighting the importance of accessible dental care for all. Heather's commitment to lifelong learning is truly inspiring. She's passionate about diversity, equity and inclusion to enhance patient outcomes and inspire those around her.
