I’m excited to share the second installment in my “President’s Corner” series. This series highlights incredible people doing incredible things, and my latest interview is with Professor Sabe Sabesan, a medical oncologist at Townsville Cancer Centre in Queensland, Australia. Prof. Sabesan has dedicated his professional life to improving access to health care for patients with cancer in rural areas through innovative telehealth approaches and to improving the workplace culture and health for oncology care team members. New JCO Study Shows Better Patient Outcomes with Annual Breast Cancer Screening A recent study in #JCO provides evidence that annual mammograms lead to lower rates of late-stage breast cancer diagnosis and improved overall survival regardless of age, race, or menopausal status. In a study of 8,145 patients, those who received annual mammograms saw a marked reduction in late-stage cancers compared to those screened every two years or less frequently. These findings support the current recommendations from the ACR for annual screening for those 40 and older. Read more: https://brnw.ch/21wLZ9B #breastcancer #cancerscreening #mammogram
