We're excited to welcome Michael Nketiah, MBA, RAC to our team as Chief of Regulatory & Quality! Building products that push the boundaries of surgical robotics requires charting new territory with regulatory bodies, and Michael with his creative, first-principles approach is going to be a huge asset to our team. He brings an outstanding 25-year track record as a regulatory & quality leader in the medtech industry. He will lead US and global regulatory matters including strategy, submissions, and interactions with regulatory authorities. Michael previously held leading regulatory & quality roles at Nexalin Technology, InterVenn Bioscience, Tivic Health, Previvo Genetics, and PROCEPT BioRobotics. At PROCEPT he was responsible for obtaining the initial US FDA De Novo Request grant for the Aquablation System and other global market approvals including Australia, Canada, CE Mark, and New Zealand.

Happy first birthday to Andromeda Surgical! It's been an eventful year with lots of progress and increasing excitement about what we're building. We set out to develop autonomous robots to make surgery safer, easier, and more efficient. We knew it would be hard and weren't sure our big product vision was even possible, but one year later we're more confident than ever that we can launch something impressive surprisingly fast. First year highlights: * Built fully functional robot and demoed successfully for a group of the world's leading urologists in just 9 months * Finalizing AI & other software features for an unveiling at AUA next month, then launching into the clinic not long after * Met most of the leading global experts in our beachhead procedure, many of whom have contributed meaningfully to the effort - special shout out to Dr. Fernando Gómez Sancha who has been a game changer * Closed oversubscribed pre-seed and seed rounds with incredibly supportive investors Amazing work from Kartik Tiwari, Rami Abukhalil, Mishaal Ali, MD, Kevin Spevak, Apurv Tiwari, and other team members who have contributed in big and small ways. 🦾 I'm going to press a button and this robot will do the surgery autonomously🦾 How would you react if your surgeon said that? Would you want the surgery? Would you want that surgery for your family and loved ones? Now think if you weren't involved in the medical world, you're someone who doesn't know that AI is on its way to healthcare too. Someone who hasn't even come across surgical robotics. It can be scary to think right? So how do we get to that end goal, where fully autonomous surgery is accepted and the norm and produces better and more reproducible surgical outcomes? Well as Nick points out, there is a big parallel between autonomous surgery and autonomous driving. When it was first anounced autonomous driving was to start coming to market, there was major questions from the press. How do we make it safe, how do we know it will be effective (obviously more dramafied from our media outlets and a lot more doomsaying) Nick wants Andromeda Surgical to take inspiration from Tesla. They sold cars with assist and ai features and slowly phase in higher levels of autonomy until autonomous driving becomes the norm. What has penetrated globally more? Fully autonomous like Waymo and Cruise? Or Tesla?
