Anomie can be used for counselling to therapy but also for coaching! Thank you for trying out a session PRESSUREVALVE LTD. and sharing your thoughts about how VR could be used for coaching remotely.
As last week was International Coaching Week, it seemed an opportune time to explore new possibilities that could make my coaching even more impactful for my clients. So, with the generous partnership of 🚀Nina Salomons I had my first foray into coaching in a virtual reality environment. 🤖 🎮 How does it work? The client wears a VR headset enabling them to enter a room like the one in the photo. The coach can see the room on their laptop by logging into https://www.anomie.io, they have options to see the room from different viewpoints, including from the client’s viewpoint. Just like with in-person and video coaching, the coach asks questions, reflects back and shares observations. In response, the client draws pictures in the room, (they can select from an image bank too), they can also write words and speak their thoughts out loud to their coach. What I learned / possible applications for VR in coaching: *The environment can assist clients to go deeper in to their thoughts because they aren’t’ distracted by what’s going on around them (e.g., they can’t see notifications on their phone, they aren’t looking at their coach to gauge their reaction to what they are saying etc.) *It’s great for clients who struggle to think big when they are static, because with VR clients are moving their arms to draw and write. *Expressing thoughts in images and colours could really help people who can’t find the words they need. *Clients can change the size of the images / words that they create. It would be interesting to see what impact this has on their mindset and relationship to the topic. *For clients who don’t find it easy to create visual images in their head, using the image bank and physically drawing could make visualisation more accessible to them. *VR can also enhance the exploration of different perspectives; the client and coach can view situations from different perspectives by looking at the drawing from different viewpoints around the virtual room. (This includes clients stepping outside of a situation). I’m confident that the more I play with VR, the more uses I’ll unlock. As a starter I can see how it could be used to explore inner critic and impostor syndrome, limiting beliefs, visualising future options, plus rehearsing / role-playing scenarios in a safe, playful environment. Curious to learn more, I’m happy to discuss, I also recommend that you visit https://www.anomie.io #coaching #VR #VirtualReality #InternationalCoachingWeek Image 1 description: Computer image of a room. On the wooden floor is a green square, drawings of people, a tree and a house. On the wall there is a number code which gives the coach access to see this room. They are round at the top with baton shaped piece that fits into the palm of a hand.

The Vision Pro has thrust immersive technologies onto the high street - there are still barriers to adoption but things are only moving in one direction. Thanks Ricardo Mighty for the opportunity for the selfie - I'm now feeling gutted I didn't ask to have a go. If anyone needed evidence Ealing is the place to be, here you have it!
