TROPICAL STORM DEBBY UPDATE BMS CAT is closely monitoring Tropical Storm Debby and want to inform you of the latest updates. What You Need to Know Tropical Storm Debby's slow speed may allow it to gain strength as it moves through the Gulf of Mexico, bringing significant rainfall and flooding to the southeast. Current Status: Tropical Storm Current Location: 155 miles southwest of Tampa, Florida. Forecast: The storm is anticipated to reach hurricane strength and make landfall along the Florida Peninsula’s western coast by late Sunday night or Monday morning. Evacuations: Authorities in Florida and Georgia have issued evacuation orders in several counties. Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis and Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp have declared states of emergency and are urging residents to prepare for power outages and other disruptions. What To Expect: Heavy Rainfall: The storm could bring up to 20 inches of rain, with some areas possibly seeing over 30 inches. This will likely lead to flash flooding and significant river flooding. Storm Surge: Florida’s Big Bend region could experience storm surge flooding of 6 to 10 feet, with other coastal areas seeing lower, but still significant, surge levels.
