Pictured are Rich Sherratt, passing the torch to Jim Richards, who stepped in as the new Executive Director! Rich Sherratt, who served as Executive Director from 1977 to 1978, was deeply committed to our Club and its mission of supporting our youth. His leadership left a lasting impact, helping to shape the future of our organization. Jim Richards, his successor, continued this legacy with the same passion and determination. As we thought about exactly what we’re celebrating during our 75th Anniversary, we decided to get the perspective of some individuals who have long since outgrown their membership to what began as the Alameda Boys Club and became the Alameda Boys & Girls Club, but are deeply important parts of our Club’s history: our alumni. Here’s what they had to say: What new experiences did the Club introduce to you? "A chance to make new friends"👯♀️ "My first river rafting trip was with the Keystone Club when I was 15, and Deep Sea Fishing with the Club when I was 13."🌊 What skills or values did you strengthen during your time at the Club? How have those skills served you? "The Club kept me off the streets and taught me how to socialize with kids older and younger than myself. I learned that kids from all backgrounds can learn to not only get along, but thrive. We competed with kids from all the parks in Alameda and learned a lot about being on a team and working together."⚾️ "Friendship and an understanding of the values of the Boys and Girls Club"🤝 "Teamwork, patience, and determination."🤼 What would you say to those considering becoming involved with the Club, whether as a member, volunteer, donor, or community member?
